"Complete scam"

Complete scam, don't buy electrical items as no guarantee they will work. Bought 2x Microwaves and neither work. They don't offer refunds and hide behind a terrible policy of buyers have to view items beforehand. Not acceptable practice in my opinion, other auction websites (ebay etc.) have buyer guarantees and support customers through shoddy sales. Issue taken up with credit card company to hopefully get our money back.

"Highly recommended auction site. "

Being new to this site and auctions in general I was a little unsure about what to expect. I have to say I am delighted with my auction winnings and the whole experience with John Pye.
Robert in customer service rang me after my first bid to check I understood how it all worked and was so friendly and helpful.
My auction winnings arrived in very good time and I'm very pleased indeed.

"Maeve not helpful or recommendable to interact with from a customers perspective"

Maeve, unhelpful customer representative, will try to blame yourself instead of assuming her responsibility on not providing potentially the help the customer is requesting, will create a situation of a challenge if the answer provided doesn't satisfy the customer, will copy and paste text more than genuinely interacting, will avoid escalating the query or trying to find help from others in order to help the customer, instead will focus more on repeating the same unhelpful answer. Overall doesn't work with customer service oriented values, hence his support is not satisfactory.

"Postage charges are off the scale. "

Tried this auction out for the first time. Bid on a few things but unfortunately only ended up with one item.
I knew the score before bidding regarding postage and fees etc but after only ending up with one Item I've got to say that I am wholly disappointed at the final payment.
The Item I purchased cost £4 but with postage and fees ended up costing £17.99 with £9.99 of that covering postage.
When the item arrived it was marked with a weight of 4kg. Now we are talking about a little wrist watch here which actually weighed in with its packaging at a mere 223g and 107g out of its packaging.
So this being my first experience of John Pye may well be my last. I do think If a buyer ends up with one item that is clearly of no weight at all, then the postage charge should be adjusted accordingly. I use another site that combines postage with a weight of upto 2kg for just £3.99 and 10kg for just £6.99 so I think John Pye should do the same.

"John Pye Crooks' haven"

**Title: Absolutely Terrible Experience - Faulty Products and Unhelpful Customer Service**

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with John Pye Auctions. My first purchase was a pair of used Sony earbuds, only to discover that the left earpiece was not working. Annoyingly, their response was a dismissive "You could view the product before making a purchase."

Thinking it might have been a one-off issue, I decided to give them another chance and bid on two pairs of JABRA earbuds, this time making sure to opt for new, sealed products. I was excited to receive them, but that excitement quickly turned to disappointment when both pairs had the exact same issue—neither had a working left earpiece.

I now have three pairs of earbuds, all with the same defect. To make matters worse, when I reached out to customer service again, they repeated the same unhelpful response about viewing the product beforehand. This is unacceptable, especially when bidding on sealed, supposedly new items. In return, John Pye gave me the same answer: "You could view the product before making a purchase."

John Pye Auctions has proven to be unreliable and dismissive. They clearly do not care about their customers or the quality of the products they sell. I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before making a purchase from them. Avoid at all costs!

"Be aware "

I and my wife we use to buy from them for over a year. Taking the risk, I assumed that. Bad and good items, did the job for our finances.
But.... There are two BIG problems :
First one it is actually an illness - the Chesterfield site. If you want to bid for rubbish and to pay on top 46% just go ahead. If you will see in a picture something interesting, they will ensure you will get it broken or will replace with something else (of course a cheap dirty item)
The Marchington site - for the same item the shipping cost is much more than other sites.

It is a shame because other sites as Nottingham, Wells, Edinburgh never happend and you always get what you bid and paid for.

We reported several times and for some we got refunds but we lost much more.
Second problem - they are using DPD. And here we go again....
Don't expect to get the items in less than a week (even if you paid on the wining day) . Sometime can take two weeks or more.
This is why we've decided to buy from another company.

"Yet again a great buy from John Pye I…"

Yet again a great buy from John Pye I was expecting a few dozen small spice tins but 168 arrived and I only paid altogether £17.99 what a fantastic bargain. You have to be careful when buying but buy the right things and it's excellent, fast delivery as well. Thank you JP

"Avoid buying anything from them. The government should step in and close this scam company."

An absolute scam company. They offer online bidding and delivery nationwide, yet they expect people to travel from one side of the country to the other for just a few hours to inspect the items. I bought a 3D printer, which would not be able to be tested anyway. Guess what? The item does not even turn on, and when I contacted them to return it for a refund, they responded with pre-written answers (copy-paste, just like what they do when they respond to bad reviews on Trustpilot). They refused any return for a refund, claiming the item was available for viewing and hiding behind their T&C.

The government and authorities must step in and take action as they are basically selling faulty items for hundreds of pounds and have found a loophole to avoid being penalised or forced to refund. They think they are exempt from the law, which states: "A consumer can legally return goods to the seller if they are faulty, not fit for purpose, or not as described. When goods are sold to consumers, the seller must comply with various obligations under the 2015 Act. They must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose." I have taken the next step and contacted the Ombudsman and will do my best to help other buyers avoid the same mistake I did.

If you need further help for a class action lawsuit, please do not hesitate to contact me or reach out for evidence.
