PGS Services

"Fast and reliable service"
I wasn't sure whether to use this company to start with. I have a bit of a distrust of tradespeople and often feel concerned I might be ripped off. As soon as I rang PGS I felt quite comfortable as they seemed to have everything under control and were able to send out a plumber within a few hours. I felt a bit more relieved after that. The plumber arrived and he was a really nice guy. He explained the problems and then quietly went about the work. He was happy to answer questions and was quite open about what he needed to do, and also showing me what was wrong when I asked.
I would recommend and will use them again.

"Professional and reliable service."
The PGS engineer identified a defective part on my boiler straight away which was effecting the water pressure in my property. I promptly received a quotation for the work to replace the defective part which was very reasonable. I would recommend PGS to my family and friends.

"PGS - PRETTY GREAT SERVICE!"
As a landlord, I have been using PGS for years now. They remind me in good time each time I need a gas safety check and carry out an A1 service. They are really good at communication both before during and after the job is complete and issue their respective certification in a timely manner. Just what you want to ease the stresses of being a landlord.

"Avoid - Failed to turn up, tried to get a credit card 'deposit' half an hour before saying they wouldn't be coming"
I booked a standard bolier service a week or so in advance, was told I had a 'morning' slot anytime between 8am and 1pm, all confirmed by email. The evening before the service, they left a voice mail on my home phone asking if they could come at 8am - sounds good, but they left the message sometime after 5pm and when I called them back after 6pm, all lines were closed. The next day, I was ready for them from 8am - but no one came. Eventually, some time after 12, they called my wife, said our appointment had been 'put back' because we had not replied to their call, and could they have a 'deposit' by credit card to guarantee the appointment? My wife took them at their word and duly gave her card details, asking when we should expect the engineer. They said they would find out and call back. They then called back at 12.52pm to say that 'due to an earlier emergency' the engineer would not make it. Then what really riled me, they asked me if I would like to cancel the appointment - at which point no doubt they would have kept the deposit. It took four more emails before they would confirm that we would not be charged - because their engineer had failed to show! All this from a company who had installed the boiler in the first place, and serviced it for the past three years. I feel sorry for the engineers who have to front for such poor call centre service.

"Poor"
Called to fix leaking basin tap. The plumber arrived on time at 10:00. Inspected the problem and advised to change the tap. He then left the premises at 10:10 to Screwfix to buy the monobloc tap (£49.49 including VAT). He only returned back at 10:45 and completed the job at 11:20. He was polite and courteous.
I was billed for 1.5 hrs of labour despite the fact that it only took 30 min to repair the tap. I was charged £42.50 +VAT / hr for labour (which worked out to be £153). I was further charged £49.49 for the monobloc tap bought from screwfix and they added a further VAT charge for this (hence I paid £59.40 for the tap). In total I spend £212.40 for the work. I do not feel they should add VAT on material that has already been VAT'ed that I have paid for. This is just poor ethics and down right a rip off. I do not think it is right for me to pay for the time it takes PGS to find the part. That is NOT labour.
Worst still the tap is still leaking. So I have had a new tap installed and the leak is still not fixed. So was a new tap really warranted or would some simple silicone sealant done the job?
The plumber was sent back on 26/9/13. However he now insist the problem is with the trap (U bend) and that's where the leak is coming from. So why was the tap changed rather than the trap? Now PGS wants me to pay again to fix the trap. I called them for a leak and they reviewed it and said it was coming from the tap initially and charged me for that. Barely 12 hrs later the leak is still present and now they say the problem lies with the trap and that would cost more. I cannot believe they want me to pay £400 to fix a leaking tap!

Superb as always, have used PGS several times now and won't be using anyone else as long as they are around. Efficient, friendly knowledgeable, and honest.

"Fast and friendly service"
I called PGS in the morning and Darren was on site early afternoon. He quickly diagnosed the problem, let me know what parts were need and how long it would take to repair the fault. He kept me informed with progress, and came back today to fit the replacement parts, taking less time than estimated - always a plus! Finding a good reliable plumber is always tricky, so many dont want to come out for the small jobs. I would definately use PGS again.
