"Book with confidence - very well organised"

We did the India 25 day "Grand Tour" and it was indeed grand. More like epic. Very well organised - you can pretty much switch off the moment you step off the plane. There will be someone waiting to whisk you off. This is a consistent theme.

The guides were top notch, as were the hotels, and cars/drivers. All very comfortable (we did a private tour).

Nice and flexible, we arranged our own flights as going onto other SEA destinations after.

Support was a little hands-off once we joined the tour - had an issue with one hotel which we resolved, DJ send an outo responder saying they'd investigate within 28 days... Other than that, it was close to perfect and I'd happily recommend to anyone who wants a luxury adventure taken care for them with no input required!

Just returned from India's Golden Triangle & Goa with DJ.
Everything which was organised, including flight times, were outstanding.
We were greeted by our super informative guide Kunal, who was on hand for Everything. Our expert driver Ajay allowed us to relax in the confidence of his ability to manage Delhi and all Indian traffic. Harri our coach man was always on hand with everything needed on the coach and luggage. These guys were amazing.

Every hotel and fine detail was done to perfection. We were not continuously paying for things such as rickshaws as Kunal sorted all of this.
The group we travelled with were amazing and a joy to be with.
Loved every excursion that was put on. Truly a once in a lifetime trip. It gave you such great information of everywhere we visited.
Could not recommend this company enough.xxx

"Grand Tour of India "

Distant Journeys welcomes customer feedback - so much so that I was asked my views through both Survey Monkey and Feefo. This review is unsolicited.

Like many travel companies, Distant Journeys makes the flight arrangements and designs the trips, but the tour leader is employed by a local agent (in this case an Indian company called Distinct Destinations) and that company handles arrangements locally.

This was a well-designed tour suited to our group aged from 60s upwards. Personally I would have preferred more train journeys, but they can be lengthy. The late afternoon flight from Mumbai to Kochi left us hanging round the Mumbai hotel in the morning and arriving for a very late meal at the Kochi hotel, but otherwise the arrangements worked well.

Our tour leader for the majority of the trip, Vishu, was knowledgeable and worked hard to accommodate our individual needs. The tour leader for our time in South India was knowledgeable but more of a guide than a tour leader. Coaches and other transport were of an excellent standard.

The hotels with two exceptions were all of a good 4 or 5 star standard with a wide choice of food from the buffet. The hotel in Amritsar had 4 star rooms but the food and service were barely 3 star. The hotel in Kochi was dilapidated and had damp beds. We had 2 nights there and were due to go back for our final night but refused to do so and were accommodated in a better hotel at no extra charge.

If visiting India in November, you should be aware that pollution levels are exceptionally high - well above accepted safety limits. Be prepared for bureaucracy and chaotic road conditions. Apart from this, I enjoyed the holiday although was disappointed not to see tigers in Ranthambore NP.

I would travel again with Distant Journeys.

Just returned from the Indian Golden Trangle and Goa tour which was magical made even more memoral by our tour guide Divinder a disaster in Delhi when a traffic jam looked to spoil our holiday, but the way he organised 10 Tut Tuts to get to the rail station was outstanding. A brilliant guide and a magnificant holiday

"Customer service"

Customer service on return from trip is nonexistent. When genuine queries are raised it is usual to have them answered Their reply to this review sums it up really as never provided a full response. I hope the Ombudsman can help them do so.

"Amazing Golden Triangle & Ranthambore"

My daughter and I have recently returned from the Golden Triangle Tour and Ranthamborne trip with Distant Journeys. The whole trip was absolutely fantastic. The Virgin flights were very good. On landing at Delhi we had to complete biometric information as this was our first visit and then went onto immigration. Unfortunately this took about 45mins/1 hour to complete. It was very slow and appeared that some people took longer than others which meant that the process was slow for everyone. Once through we were met by our Tour Guide KV and taken to our first hotel. All the ITC hotels were very good with the ITC Maurya, Mughal and Rajputana being exceptional hotels. Travelling to Agra by train was a great experience and seeing the Taj Mahal along with the Ranthambore safaris were our highlights. The Ranthambore Regency was our favourite hotel set in beautiful gardens; we received a lovely welcome with garland and bindi. We were very lucky to see two tigers on the morning safari and three cubs in the afternoon along with other wildlife. This whole tour was amazing and gave us an insight into the beautiful architecture and culture of the mogul empire and the knowledge and skill used to produce various artwork and the mastery of the Jantar Mantar observatory. Our evening with a Rajasthani family learning cookery skills and enjoying a meal in their home was thoroughly enjoyable.

Our guide KV was exceptional in his knowledge and went out of his way to accommodate requests from the group to see/experience specific activities and to help me during our personal extended visit to Kolkata and return to Delhi. Our personally booked internal flights with Indigo and Vistara were straightforward and very good. KV brought together knowledge on modern India, the Mogul Empire as well as Colonial India which really enhanced our experience.

I have no hesitation in recommend this tour with DJ and being supported by an excellent guide in KV.

"Use to be good but no longer the company it once was!"

Great until things go wrong and then you are left stranded.

Avoid the South Africa trip at all costs a very dangerous holiday, not interested in the safety and welfare of its clients, it's all about pecuniary advantage.

"Lotus Temple Tour Delhi"

Monday 1st Day in Delhi, due to visit Gunness World Record India's most visited religious site "The Lotus Temple" basic error it does not open on Mondays, I was looking forward to this, but it was false it was never going to happen. We had a substandard Coach for part of the journey which was a bit scary, with wires hanging out and door with no handle.

We wanted to go to China with them unfortunately at our time of booking they didn’t go there so we went with Wendy wu (nice but never again)
We have now decided to do South Africa and will be using DJ for that

"Temples and tigers - outstanding "

I joined the DJ's Temples and Tigers solos tour departing 22nd September. This trip surpassed all my expectations - everything was amazing. So well organised, very full on. Our wonderful guide VP was brilliant staying very calm at every turn, his knowledge was vast but I didn't feel overloaded with information. The hotels and food were wonderful. I would 100% recommend you book this - an experience to be remembered forever.
