"The Very Best of Japan 2024"
We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our tour of Japan. It provided us with an excellent insight into the main island. Sachiko, our tour guide was brilliant, we can’t rate her highly enough. The pace of the tour and number of nights in each location was perfect, although it would have been good to have had two nights, rather than one, in Kurashiki. Hotel accommodation was very good, nice and clean, plenty of choice at the buffet breakfasts and check-in well organised across the board. The icing on top of the cake was the view we eventually got of Mount Fuji without any cloud cover. We would definitely recommend this tour.

"Excellent customer service"
The brochure was very detailed but we had a few questions. Emails were responded to very quickly with the information I needed. When it came to booking the staff were wonderful and made the process very easy.

"The Very Best of Japan"
The itinerary was good and a little more leisurely than those of other tour companies we looked at with substantial free time. The built-in activities were great fun and helped to bond the group together. The hotel accommodation was generally excellent, with good breakfasts and restaurants, although these tended to be expensive. However, the rooms in two of the hotels were, in our opinion too small for two people with large suitcases. The two local guides were excellent and friendly as was the tour manager who stayed with us throughout the trip. Transportation of luggage was very easy and efficient, so that all we had to do was walk out of the hotel and onto a bus or train. Communication from the company was efficient throughout and we would certainly book with this company again

"Grand Tour of India "
We have just booked the Grand Tour of India with a beach extension for 2025. Having had to cancel a previous trip booked due to COVID which caused our usual travel agent (that we had used for many years) to go bankrupt we found it really difficult to get a company offering such a great holiday at a competitive price. However after discovering Distant Journeys and getting the brochure we discovered our perfect trip. The agent (Callum) was very knowledgeable, answered all our queries and gave us all relevant information we would need for travel etc and the booking process was very easy. We are all looking forward to the holiday next year when I will hopefully update my review after having an amazing experience.

"First time client, now a life long fan"
I had not used Distant Journeys before but was desperate to have a detailed and sight filled trip to Japan that also included free time and all the main sights. Their The Very Best of Japan tour offered exactly what I wanted and when I compared it to Trail Finders and another company, they had the most amount of time in Japan and the best value. The whole trip was a luxurious treat with a lifetime of memories, some new friends and so many experiences I will be talking and thinking about for the rest of my life. Absolutely first class and the guides in Japan were outstanding too. All accommodation was 4 or 5 star, transport comfortable and on time and the entrance fees all included to every place we visited.

"Sri Lanka tour 2024"
This is addition to my husband’s recent review of our Distant Journeys trip to Sri Lanka in March this year. I thoroughly endorse his comments on the issue of bus safety. It was in fact very scary and although we mentioned this to our tour guide at the beginning of the tour, nothing was done to rectify the problem that the driver was fully aware of. We received a minimal goodwill gesture amount of “compensation” (which wasn’t the reason for our complaint; we really wanted to make DJ we’re aware of the conditions we travelled in and to ensure it didn’t happen again) although other members of our party who similarly showed their discomfort with the bus received £100 more than us. Their brochure states that our safety and well being is a high priority but this certainly didn’t apply on our trip. It is with a heavy heart that I say I will certainly look for alternative travel/tour companies in the future. Sorry Distant Journeys, in my view you did not live up to your reputation.

"Our tour of Sri Lanka"
We recently returned from our trip to Sri Lanka, The Very Best Of Sri Lanka. The actual itinerary was very good, leaving just the right amount of freedom time. We additionally booked the beach extension, which was ok, but we had problems. The places and sights visited were very good, and the hotels were generally good. We did encounter some issues which we reported to Distant Journeys by email before we returned to the UK and have to say that we were very disappointed in the reaction from them. There were two main problems. The first and, in our opinion very important was that our tour bus was clearly mechanically faulty. Above certain speed (which alarmingly reduced as the tour went on) the bus would start oscillating from side to side increasing in movement unless or until the driver applied the brakes. This was discussed early on with our tour guide who simply said the bus was ok but they could not fix it until the end of the tour. My wife and I, plus a number of others in our party were concerned even frightened in some cases at the oscillations. I have stressed the point to Distant Journeys but they seem not prepared to fully investigate the issue. Given the bus appeared to have a fault or faults in its running gear does not to me indicate due attention to safety of the touring group. The other main point I was disappointed over was that we had to virtually arrange our own transfer from the beach hotel to our airport. I had to spend considerable time at the hotel reception in order to find out what arrangements were to be made. I was told in one email that Distant Journeys does not arrange transfers on an extension however the brochure clearly states that all transfers including those on an extension are included and arranged by Distant Journeys. Whilst we were offered and have accepted a small figure in compensation this was accepted reluctantly and in view of the fact that Distant Journeys clearly were not prepared to discuss further with us and advised us that the next step for us would have to be to go arbitration. I have kept this to a brief explanation but our experience has left a disappointing taste, and we would have to give very careful thought to using Distant Journeys in the future.

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our…"
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to The Gold Triangle and Goa this February 2024 . Not only was the guide /hotels and transport beautifully appointed but the like minded people we travelled with really made this a most memorable trip. Our experience with Distant Journeys was seamless and I will be travelling with them again for sure . They deserve all the awards they get .
