I was a bit woriied about getting a car from a company that wasn't based on-site at the airport, but the driver picked up us up very promptly and it really was a very short drive to the office.
The car was clean and tidy and great value for money compared to some of the other rental companies.
The paperwork was quick to complete and the lovely staff had us on the road in no time.
It looked like they get a lot of repeat business and I'm not surprised as they were so easy to deal with.

Omega Car Rental is really great. I searched alot before renting and really got the best deal here . I took a toyota camry which was in very good condition . There was a little hiccup in between when the car was giving some error but they made sure they change the car and also compensated me which was really nice on their part. I rented a Toyota Aqua from Omega Rental Cars New Zealand Christchurch Airport Mid Dec 2024 to Mid Jan 2025 (5 weeks). Summary of my experience. I found website was good and easy to use. Flight arrived on time. Pickup was very easy and fast, nice polite friendly efficient man at the desk. I called Omega per their instructions, from their airport pickup/dropoff stand point when I was ready to pickup. After about 5 mins their van arrived to take me to the office/pickup parking place on airport periphery. Pickup was the usual including recording existing bodywork scratches ,my taking photos to compare before and after etc. Dropoff was easy, I drove straight to the parking. The Toyota Aqua was perfect size for my needs as I travelled alone. I could fold down the rear seats and fit my Mountain Bike inside ( MTB with detatchable front wheel). I placed some cardboard got from one of the big stores underneath to protect the seat fabric. The Aqua is quite economical on fuel. Tip: The Aqua is a Hybrid. Beware, the starting battery in many hybrids are easily discharged ! eg If you leave lights on or charge your mobile for lengthy period eg overnight or similar battery load, this when the car is not running. This happened to me in a very remote location, luckily I found someone with jumpleads, I googled to discover the battery location (it's behind a plastic panel under the rear seat driver's side), also called/talked with Omega office, and managed to self-get it started, and avoid a circa NZ 160 AA callout fee and probably lengthy wait. The drivers side windscreen wiper rubber became perished, couldnt see outside when raining, so I had to buy a new one. I requested a refund with reciept by email x 2 times but Omega did not respond. The Aqua was a Jap import, did not have a user manual. The radio buttons are Japanese text but I didnt use it anyhow. If you encounter any issues and if you have network and google search, there is good information online about the Aqua. I booked the car online about 9 months in advance. The rental price was very competitive and I could cancel at no cost until very close to the actual pickup day. The car drove good, was quite spacious & reasonably comfortable. During the rental someone accidentally reversed into the car while I was sitting in the car in a parking lot resulting in minor wing damage. TIP: Read the Renter's rental agreement document's "Mechanical Repairs and Accidents" and other relevant sections to understand what might have happened if the damage had meant that the car was un-driveable. Per procedure, I called Omega shortly after to inform them about the incident. I did not take the Omega excess insurance, I had a seperate worldwide excess policy so I paid Omega the excess amount NZ 2.5K. I got the excess refunded in full after about 4 weeks as the person who reversed into my car agreed to pay the repair costs. That was dealth with directly by Omega. I had recorded the drivers name, mobile contact no, vehicle reg, addresse, took several accident area and damage done pictures, photographed their and my vehicle etc. I have rented cars perhaps more than 200 times in many countries and this was my first time having a rental car damaged. Omega do charge a % fee for using foreign CR cards. Mine was about 2 x 45 euro (Rental payment and Excess). In general Omega were very responsive to my emails considering that this was their busy peak season. Overall I was very happy with the rental, ease of pickup and return, email and phone call communications, friendly and reasonable office staff, price, pickup & dropoff and how Omega dealth with the wing damage issue. I would recommend Omega Car Rental company. I had a great time in NZ and think Omega Rental Cars are awesome. Customer from Ireland
