"tripled the cost at pickup"

Had a contract to ship a car cross country for $820. They were supposed to pickup on a wednesday. 4 days later and when they knew I had to get the car arrived for my daughter to attend college they said they were finally able to get a driver. But, with the new cost of $2500. They had me, they knew I needed them and it was too late too shop around. I was furious to say the least. After much swearing and hanging up, we agreed upon $2020. The car arrived on time, but do not use them. Apparently a signed contract doesn't matter

"RUN FAST!!!! worth the read, i PROMISE"

Started my experience with this "company" about two and a half months ago. I was emailing with Kathie. I was told that the "door to door" cost to ship my car was $770 with insurance included. There would be an initial deposit and the rest would be due when the car arrives at its destination. I made sure to confirm this at LEAST 3 separate times that the entire total I would be paying to ship my care was $770. I was assured by Kathie that this was the total price "door to door" that I would owe the remaining $570 when my car was dropped at its destination. Then in the span of about 1-2 weeks, I get 3 separate emails with a deposit amount. All three emails contained different deposit amounts of $170, $180 ad $200. I emailed Kathie about this, rather concerned and she punted my email off to another agent who very passively responded by saying "oh these are automated emails" so on and so forth. I let it go. Then I get another email with a link to submit my payment information, this link opens up a page that I input my personal info and CC info. At the very end, before you click submit, there is a box that states, and I quote "Note: you are not being charged at this time, we are only adding billing information to your order" so I click submit, because this really wasn't the card I wanted to use but was the only one I had handy at the moment and it said I wouldn't be charged. 20 seconds later, I get a text message from my bank saying I had been charged $200. So this was false information AGAIN. I was stupid enough to let this go a second time, shrugged it off because either way I guess the deposit had to be collected. Then the day before my car ships out I get a call from Kathie and she transfers me to the "dispatch" team which spends the first 5 minutes of my conversation talking about how the truck drivers don't want to take my car and that they are driving a "dead road" and how they have negotiated ar eally great price for me... basically a whole 5 minute word salad to prepare me for a new price of $1,400 additional dollars on top of my deposit. I stop the guy "Steve" and tell him I had signed and approved for $770 and I was told 3 separate times that, that would be my final "door to door" price. "Steve" continued to make excused and talk about how they negotiated terms and how there are no drivers willing to go to my destination and blah blah and how American haul is a broker and they don't make the prices. I told "steve" again that at no point was I told that American Haul was a broker, nor was I told that I would be paying anything other than $770 to ship my car. This guy continued spewing the same lines over and over and kept saying, let me call you back after calling the driver to see if I can get a better price. I tell "steve" that I have all the emails saved and that I will be recording out phone conversations as well for proof and that I will not be shipping my car because this is a horrible business model to deceive their clients like that, he continues pedaling the same script and tells me he will call me back tomorrow when he contacts other drivers to see if he can find a better price (the day my car was supposed to leave). The next day arrives, this man BLOWS up my phone while im at work. Calls me 7 times until I finally answer and tell him Im working. He then proceeds to call me an additional 5 times, when I finally step away from work he tells me he's negotiated a price of $900. I again tell steve that he is not understanding that I am not paying anything over the price that I was initially told I would pay. He says that company is fronting a couple hundred dollars to cover the difference and I won't find a better price than this. I tell steve again that I am NOT shipping my car and at this point I request a refund of my $200 deposit that was taken without my authorization. He tells me he's going to call his manager to talk with them about a better price and then hangs up. Steve calls again stating they were able to get it down to $800 plus the $200 I already gave for deposit. I tell steve for a 4th time now that I am NOT shipping my car and that I want my deposit refunded. He tells me he cannot refund my money because that went into the insurance that the brokers are only makin $45 from my business that they are covering the difference in price that $1,000 is the cheapest I'll find. I confirm with steve that I will be contacting the BBB, with all the recordings and emails I have about this company deceiving their clients and lying to them about pricing and then basically leaving them hanging and with no choice the day before their cars are supposed to be shipped. I confirm with steve that he is refusing to refund my money and honor the price I was told from the start. Every call I took was like speaking to a call center over seas. DO NOT trust these people!
