" 16 Day Ultimate Sri Lanka & The Maldives Premium Small Group Tour"

Rather than a total review I want to help pass on some information that is not provided by Inspiring Vacations.

IF ARRIVING EARLY
If arriving in Colombo a day before the tour commences as everyone did on our tour we decided to go to places that are not included on our tour so we did not visit Pettah Market as the tour itinerary states “There will be time for you to disembark the coach and be escorted through the famous Pettah Market.” On our tour we drove through but did not stop and get escorted about the market as described. Our guide informed us that they don’t do this as it’s too dangerous. I understand that itineraries change however the website has not been updated with this information even weeks after Inspiring Vacations have been advised on this error.

TRAVEL TIMES AND SOME LONG DAYS
Regarding the travel times on our trip we had no hold-ups or detours and all of my timings were recorded live via GPS, dated and time stamped so they are accurate.

Inspiring Vacations could do a better job in their itinerary literature on this Sri Lanka tour by advising of long travel days such as what they do in one of their Japan tours where they provide very helpful information where they state "Your travel time today will be approximately 5 HOURS. Today is a long travel day and we will arrive at our hotel at approximately 5pm." This useful and informative detail prepares travellers on what to expect.

Whereas in Inspiring Vacation's 16 Day Ultimate Premium Sri Lanka Maldives for Day 2 it states:
"Your travel time today will be approximately 2.5 HOURS."
There is no mention here of a long travel day yet we left early (on time), stopped for our scheduled tour and for lunch and ARRIVED AT OUR HOTEL JUST BEFORE 7pm.

In this tour they simply state the “approximate” travel times. These “approximate” travel times are meant to indicate just the driving time and doesn't include touring and lunch stops. This results in some very long travel days. In addition the "approximate" times and not approximate and realistically unachievable.

For the day of Yala National Park to Nuwara Eliya it is quoted as “Your travel time today will be approximately 3 hours. (the average Google estimate is over 4 hours) and remember a tour bus travels slower than the average. Again we left on time, no hold-ups and our driving time was closer to 5 hours. When adding sightseeing and lunch stops our total time hotel to hotel was 6.5 hours.

I have no issue with long travel days I just think that Inspiring Vacations could do a better job informing prospective travellers of these long travel days so that travellers are aware.

I have informed Inspiring Vacations on several occasions that they should include this information in this tour as they do in one of the Japan tours to help and better inform travellers.

MALDIVES ALL INCLUSIVE
If staying at Adaaran Club Rannalhi in the Maldives just be aware that there is a restricted drinks list and quite a number of cocktails are NOT included, such as Bloody Mary, Nespresso Martini, Toblerone, Baileys Martini, Grasshopper, Banana Colada. You also need to pay if you want a milkshake or a fruit juice.

Went to your expo, which was fantastic helped me to decide.
A friend from work has gone on two of your tours to Japan and South America and she said both were good.
Also fantastic staff easy to speak to and they call back.

I got this survey link a week after booking, so this is just all about the booking process. This is my first time booking with Inspiring Vacations. We have not taken the trip yet and we are excited and looking forward to our vacation in June. I will do another review after that. For now, our rep, Billie, was exceptional - she was professional, courteous, explained every detail, and was on top of every aspect of our reservations. I appreciate that she also did a follow up call (something a lot of businesses don't do once you already pay them).
