"SO Energy - Threats of legal action despite cancelled contract. "
I joined So Energy believing they could offer me a non-smart (conventional) meter. When they declined, I cancelled the contract well within the 14-day statutory cooling-off period — notifying them on 26th March 2025, with a follow-up email on 2nd April.
Under consumer law, the contract was cancelled on 26th March. However, So Energy have ignored my communications and are now threatening me with legal action for bills dated after the contract was lawfully terminated. This is harassment and, in my view, could amount to attempted fraud.
I have requested a deadlock letter so I can refer the matter to the Energy Ombudsman. Shockingly, So Energy even refused to hand supply back to my original provider after the cancellation. It took 3 attempts to get it back.
I find their behaviour threatening, abusive, and completely unacceptable.

The lady I spoke to was not helpful at all. I only renewed because I couldn't be bothered looking for someone else, I would not recommend or renew ever again!

I contacted So Energy on 20th February requesting a meter relocation. I have now had over ten contact events by phone and email and am still awaiting a date for their engineers to visit. I have been without a power supply since this time. Each contact is with a different person, and I cannot identify any one individual that will take responsibility for this matter, despite raising a formal complaint.

Their prices seemed good and their customer service also was acceptable (I only waited for 2 minutes on a call to cancel my switch).
The only downside for me is that they want to take your first two payments in the first month so if you're wanting 'continuation' in paying your gas/electricity supply from your previous supplier you won't get it as SO want you in credit. I may have missed this in the terms but for me that's not ok and so chose to cancel the switch. Surprised I wasn't even asked why I was cancelling either, so no chance to rectify any issues.
