Valspar Paint

" Dreadful paint"
My daughter picked a deep pink for her kitchen walls and got the valspar kitchen mix. Painting over white walls, so expected 2 coats, but after 4 coats it still looks patchy and when we removed the masking tape, it peeled off around the door frame. It was like a film had formed over the paint. The walls were completely dry, no damp etc. I truly think valspar have changed the paint in some way, it never used to be like this. Won't be using it when we have to re paint the kitchen.

"Doesn’t do what it says it does "
Bought the Matt trade paint as have a toddler so thought it would be a great paint to use to be able to clean the walls down, says it’s scrubbable - nope! Leaves marks on the walls where they’ve been wiped. So after paying for expensive paint and paying a painter to paint my living room/stairs, it looks a mess. Patches all over where I’ve had to wipe the walls to clean them. Wouldn’t use again. Will use dulux trade paint like I was advised to in the first place. Really disappointing and I’ve wasted a lot of money.

" Very disappointed"
I have been recommending Valspar for many years to my customers, used to be a great paint, covered well, thick in consistency, and looked great. I used the Valspar Matt this week, stirred and shook the container and applied the paint as normal. Put one coat on and let it dry, then the next day added two more layers.
It dried really patchy even after three coats.
B and Q refunded the customer and gave them 5 litres of dulux in a similar colour.
Applied that today and the result as always was brilliant.
The consistency of the Valspar was really watery even after stirring, they need to be honest and have obviously either changed the production process or the substances in the paint!!
Very disappointing!!!

"Terrible watery paint not fit for purpose!"
I had previously used Valspar paint last year & was very impressed with the results. This year because of that I chose Valspar "Bold Move" dark blue matt emulsion & picked the best quality type they offer for my hall, stairs & landing. I paid a professional painter to do the job. My decorator's work standard is superb & can't fault his painting skills. The dark blue was going over a previously painted cream type colour walls. As the first coat was going on my decorator said that this Valspar paint was quite watery in texture. A further 2 coats were applied over the next 2 days (bearing in mind a hall, stairs & landing is a big area to paint) By the 3rd coat after it'd dried it still looked really patchy & wasn't covering properly. I went to my local B & Q where I bought the paint from (£90 for 10L) & then got 2 tins of Dulux paint of a similar colour to use instead. My decorator returned this week & completely repainted the hall, stairs & landing again with this dulux paint & it covered beautifully with one coat. He said the dulux paint felt much "thicker & creamier" I contacted Valspar customer services via the link on their website & "Theodor" replied (Case number 09934866) & had the cheek to say the paint hadn't been stirred properly & it shouldn't have been left for 24 hours between coats! What absolute rubbish! Valspar just look at all these awful reviews you're getting for your paint at the moment! You must have done something to the mixture for it to now be so awful! The way you are going you'll soon be out of business after all your years of trading!

I ordered the cards a week ago and they have still not arrived. Decided order samples from Dulux instead which arrived the next day. Very disappointed.

"Rubbish paint and rubbish customer service"
This review is an honest review about using and dealing with Valspar paint.
I purchased a primer /undercoat which turned out to be unusable. It was watery and did not cover. A professional painter and decorator confirmed it was faulty and unusable.
18 emails later with Valspar customer services has got no where. I have supplied all the information they require. However Valsparchave done nothing. Basically they don't want to know.
I accept that the value of the paint is small. B&Q where the paintings bought said raise the issue with Valspar.
All I can say I won't use Vapspar again and if you think about buying Valspar please be cautious.

"The exterior paint is horrendous "
This paint is horrendous after 3 coats still streaky and patchy. My decorator spent 2 days prepping before applying. Bought in B&Q they agreed looking at the pics that it looked defective but declined to refund and said I had to deal with Valsper directly still waiting on a callback. I used valspar interior 2+ years ago which was fine so either the exterior paint is not fit for purpose or they have changed the components. When you open the tub the colour is super bright nothing like the sample card but then drys into the sample card colour, and get this when it rains the paint reverts back to the colour it was coming out of the pot, now if valspar say that’s normal I would tend to completely disagree, its even left rain water marks after only 3 weeks of been applied. Wish I had of seen these reviews before I purchased it everybody can’t be wrong about the quality of this paint!!

"1-star only because I could not give a…"
1-star only because I could not give a MINUS 5!
Bought from B&Q as Valspar was supposed to be reputable quality.
Very disappointed.
This stuff is useless waste of money.
Does not even cover or stick to clean & dry wall/ceiling.
Had to get some CROWN product, that is good and does what it says on the can.
WELL IT'S INTERESTING TO SEE THE SAME STOCK MEANINGLESS REPLY FROM VALSPAR!
JUST EXACTLY IS VALSPAR GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
UPDATE
SO I EMAILED THIS CUSTOMER DISSERVICE DEPARTMENT.
SURPRISE SURPRISE NO RESPONSE.

"Appalling, regret buying"
Appalling. Used valspar premium, supposed to be 'durable'. 1 week after painting, had a shirt on and brushed against the wall by door, scuffed. Like through the paint. And you can't clean it as a damp cloth takes paint off. I'll have to repaint with a quality paint. Ridiculous.

"Two rooms in a row?!"
Had to write a review because on the day I’m supposed to be glossing and finishing the job I’m still going and looking at another day or two of Labour.
First coat went on to already painted and prepped walls beautifully, I was tempted to stop there but went along for second coat as always recommended. I used the same technique and was left with stippled texture in patches. Go back to b&q and they kindly offered to mix me another free batch to fix my issue. Great - until I roller it on and the new colour is DIFFERENT to original- so now looking down the barrel of starting the job from scratch.
Same thing happened in another colour and another room - that time I assumed this was me but apparently it’s the paint.
