"Complete waste of money"

I am writing to share my extremely disappointing experience at ULaw. Unfortunately, the service has been terrible since I enrolled.

Once you sign the contract and commit to payment, support seems to vanish. It feels like the university is only interested in collecting tuition fees, leaving students without the help they need.

The teaching quality varies greatly. Some lecturers are excellent, but many are not, leading to an inconsistent learning experience. The contact time is abysmal, and it often feels like there’s little effort made to engage with students, with 30-45 minutes, twice a week for a course that costs £14,000.

Moreover, once the course starts, the university is unresponsive to requests for support. This lack of assistance has made my academic journey much more challenging than it should be.

If you have any grievances they will point you in the direction of their formal complaints procedure, and subsequently tell you that they are 'overrun with complaints' and cannot assign you a case handler due to lack of staffing.
For an online course with extremely limited teaching time I am at a loss as to where my £14k is being spent if not on staffing.

Overall, I expected a lot more. I hope my feedback prompts improvements for future students and saves prospective students wasting their money with this absolute joke of a university.

"Too many red flags to count"

This was a really strange and concerning experience. Emails went unanswered and the people answering the phones seemed uncertain and scripted. Nobody seemed able to answer simple questions. I felt like a frustrated and misunderstood customer, not an enrolled and paying student.

As foreign students, we don't qualify for national student loans. I'm sure most of us are left paying out of pocket. +$30,000 CAD is a considerable amount to pay for an out-of-country degree. The indifference on the other end of the phone was pretty disturbing.

I am glad I came accross these reviews before I invested any further.

"Seriously, apply elsewhere for LPC/LLM"

Honestly, I am three days into my online LPC/LLM course and have already asked for information on how to withdraw. Maybe its OK if you actually study at an institution but 100% give the online course a miss. Still have no idea of what I should be doing and when I need to do it.

"The worst university experience me or…"

The worst university experience me or my friends have seen. I did a postgrad diploma in law and I received no help or support. I emailed and called constantly, i would be passed around to different departments on the phone and some of my emails from months ago haven’t been answered no matter how much I have chased. I have finally had enough and have gone to the complaints department because I want my money back. I’ve wasted so much money and effort on this university and came out with nothing. Life changing amounts of money, they just take and don’t give.

"I came here to leave a review on the…"

I came here to leave a review on the lack of communication and student journey. I'm not surprised reading all the reviews and bad experiences other students had.

I'm glad the person in admissions never got back to me and didn't go ahead with enrolling me into a course starting this september.

It was a blessing in disguise, but this is probably the worst admissions team I have come across.

"Ulaw Experience matter "

I completed my master degree in computer science from Ulaw London. The admission process is quite straightforward and hard if you’re genuine international student, but few things need improvement like, Attendance junk emails, Student finance team, and finally I would like to say Ulaw is Good place for everyone, so don’t complain come and enjoy your luck!!!!!!!

Cheers! MSCS

"ULaw student’s experience "

After I paid for the course, I sent an email simply asking about the exam, someone called Rohith Sangasani from Assessment Office never answer the question but trying to reply something useless or irrelevant . Totally not helpful, inefficiency and wasting time

"Awful place to work for and study at"

Awful place to work for and study at. Staff are underpaid (except at highest levels) and overworked and they're making staff redundant despite the £10-15m they make in profit each year (see Companies House). Student support is very hit and miss. For a handful of lucky students they are great, but if you have any real issues during your time as a student they don't have the systems in place to care. I've worked for and studied at many other universities but ULaw is in a league of its own in awfulness.

"ULAW Students Union only review"

I have already reviewed The University of Law from a student perspective (Course and studying) and an employment perspective. However the ULAW SU deserves its own "special" review. When reading this review I ask that you keep in mind the SRA ethical principles as the SU is clearly not following them although they represent students who aspire to be solicitors or barristers one day.

The elections for Co-Presidents happened in March and candidates were told about certain rules that they had to follow. Failure to follow those rules could lead to disqualification. An incident took place at the Birmingham campus where a candidate broke one of the rules, they went in to a classroom and campaigned and was watching over students shoulders as they voted. This was witnessed by students and staff, even the campus dean was made aware of it. Students and staff raised this and after the SU investigated they only gave them a warning, which was ineffective as the elections had closed by then. The investigation outcomes were announced after the election results were released. Now here iss the kicker, the person who was elected as Co-President of Academic Affairs for 2024/25 is the same person who broke the rules. Majority of the other candidates though that tis was extremely unfair that someone broke the rules and just got "a slap on the wrist". We appealed the decision and the conduct of the SU returning officer and the NUS returning officer at least twice and they are still saying that the decision still stands and the investigation was carried out appropriately.

We commented on the ULAW SU social media posts with our dissatisfaction in the new CO-President of Academic Affairs and the SU, but our comments were either removed or hidden from the public. Its obviously their way to cover it up.

We have had a few meetings with the PVC of the SU and they were understanding of the situation but no real solution came out of those meeting. They did ask on how they can improve the system for the future. However, this is not the first Co-Presidents election that the SU has undertaken so you would think that they should have procedures/policies in place for future events.

Here are where the elections need to be improved:
1. have one document with all of the rules and disciplinary process and penalties in it. In short have a code of conduct like the schools do for children.
2. Communicate the manner in which candidates are supposed to behave to students, This was not clearly done as students kept on asking the candidates if another candidate's conduct was okay.
3. Announce the investigation outcomes before the election results on the social media platforms.

I would suggest you go on to their social media pages and see who I am talking about.

People should earn this fairly and honestly. the new Co-President of Academic Affairs did not earn his title honestly and fairly and the SU are okay with that apparently. The truth will always come out in the end.

Unfortunately, due to the SU and this situation, ULAW has lost an alumni for a while (a year to 2 years or possibly longer) while the new Co-President of Academic Affairs (MR.P Bolaji) is in the position.

"An extremely disappointing experience…"

An extremely disappointing experience with The University of Law. I enquired about a course a year and a half in advance, only to be repeatedly ignored. When someone finally responded, all I received was a 'sorry we are full'. I strongly recommend avoiding The University of Law and opting for a more reliable provider instead.
