"Cancelled course on short notice and weeks later I'm still waiting for my refund"

Was told on two weeks notice that the Ulaw Manchester could not run my SQE1 prep course on campus - they pushed the idea of an online course (which is the same price as the in-person course confusingly) to which I declined. £4k for an online course but a similar course at Barbri costs £2.7k at the moment, so you can make your own mind up on value.

The bad experience didn't stop there. I paid the first instalment for my course in mid May. It's now July and despite chasing student finance several times and being pinged from team to team, I've yet to receive my refund.

Their only saving grace was a very nice lady from business operations gave me a call and explained how the Ulaw was really struggling with student admissions (hence the reason for the cancellations i.e. a lack of admissions) for SQE prep courses in the regions.

Overall, not a positive experience.

"Law (SQE1)…think! think! think! before you come to ULAW"

I'm currently on the MA Law (SQE1) course, and as with anything, life gets in the way, and plans change.
If you are not sure of your course and wish to change part-way through it is a nightmare. Any discounts or scholarships are not passed to the new course.
Having studied two semesters, the general teaching is ok, but some of the teaching is below par. When you complain it is pushed back on you to manage the tutor! Nothing is really done to rectify the deficiencies.
It is clear that the university do not invest in IT. It is terrible and regularly has issues.
The comms is outsourced to India and they just give wrong advice most of the time. Try getting hold of someone in the UK - good luck! You can spend more time trying to resolve issues than studying. They even advise you to buy the wrong books and accept no liability; I had to threaten to get my credit card company involved to get my money back.
After 2 semesters, I can't wait to complete my course and be rid off ULAW.
Complaining to the Dean, well that was essentially ignored. Even multi-national companies don't behave in this matter.
Be very clear as to what it is you want to study, and do not deviate. Accept the university for what it is and you'll be fine. Don't have any high expectations as you will be greatly disappointed.
I agree with the other reviewers: comms not responded to etc.
BUT - the study skills team are great!

"Warning to potential applicants!! Stay away!!!"

Warning to all potential applicants! Stay away from this university,!!!! Im not sure how this university is even running with such communication flaws, very unprofessional and uncaring I now understand why it’s so easy to get a place with them. They accept anyone and all they care about is taking your money.
I enrolled last min to start my part-time LPC. I only realised once I enrolled that that LPC had already started(as it was not listed on the website when I made my application). Very misleading!!! To cut a long story short after careful consideration I decided I rather start in September instead since the course had already started and I felt overwhelmed to catch up. When I contacted them it took multiple emails back and forth from different departments who did not know how to resolve my transfer.. I was also told by one department that I can transfer and another that I can’t as I missed my 14 day cooling off period by less than a week!! And in order to transfer I need to pay a fee of £2220 of a course I did not know had started and did not attend any workshops or anything. Having explained this and refusing to pay till they give me a reasonable explanation of why I need to pay this fee. I am stuck waiting for communication from them to respond to my emails which they do not respond to numerous email to Finance department who are clueless . They just want their fee paid and are not interested in anything else. This is the worst university imaginable. if I could describe my experience with them it is that of dealing with a loan shark. I have been stuck waiting since February for them to resolve my issues even sent a letter to complaints ulaw who said they will inform Finance dept.. but still nothing. I wish I had listened to my instincts and gone to another university.

"I am a current student and not happy"

I am a current student. Their customer service is below average. Keep getting letters about random fees I should be paying - a lot more than I should be owing this being my first year. Their Student Finance department is the worse. Then comes IT - who, on average, sits on a problem for 3-4 months.

Pending a favorable response, I am willing to update my rating. However, this is the third time I have had to contact the Student Finance dep. and they are always very apologetic. Almost as empty an apology as the "how are you" on an average day from an average Joe...

"Don't call this Uni"

Don't call this Uni. Unprofessional staff, they don't get in touch, not only that BUT it takes forever to get in touch with them over the phone. First the automated service says there are so many callers in touch with you, and then where you are next, you are still on the line for 40 mins waiting to be answered. Absolutely disgraceful.
