It has been a really good experience, a mixture of learning new things and affirming the systems I already use.Had a excellent observer in Ricard, John, the local Chair, was always on the ball and conducted my pre-test assessment & Simon, who tested me, was equally professional on my test. All were responsive in terms of communication & I have just attended my first group meeting, which was interesting too. PS, it did help bring the cost of my insurance down too :-))

"IAM advance motorcycle training"

The IAM group couldn't do enough for me to get me test ready. The entire experience and the knowledge gained has been extremely beneficial and made motorcycling far safer and enjoyable.

Although one can be nervous at the thought of being closely observed by a stranger, Oliver was at pains to put me at ease. The whole experience was very enjoyable.

"Waste of Money £219 for test and training. "

HELLO IAM

Bought a package online for £219 in May 2024

Promising a one off fee for the Advanced motorist test and expert tuition by IAM local group !!


Waste of money !!

The local Group decides when you are put you for the advanced test

Therefore 1 year later you loose the payment for the test

Also there are additional charges for ride out not mentioned !!

On Tuesday April 15th I paid a renewal membership of £39 online and was told I would loose the test fee.

I requested a refund of the membership fee 4 times with proof of payment

This has still not been paid !!

Better to join other organisation where you pay a membership fee , get expert advise on improving the ride , no up front no refundable test fees !!

"Mature Driver's Assessment"

Member of IAM for 61 years. I needed to renew my confidence and confirm that at 87 I was still OK to drive. Barry Riches, my Assessor, was great at putting me at my ease and remaining very professional. His assessment made me realise that I had become too complacent and there were a number of areas for improvement. I particularly appreciated the advice he gave me on using the technological features of my car such as the Speed Limiter and the Gear Change Paddles. Together with his other constructive comments, I now have a renewed interest in improving my driving.
I really enjoyed my two hours with Barry and have already recommended the Review to others.

I remain disappointed that Cornmarket, the recommended insurer are not prepared to offer insurance to drivers over 85. I suggest that IAM is really missing out here by not having an Insurance Company that accepts drivers over 85. I was interested to find other insurance companies did question whether I had had a Review and obviously the IAM Assessment has some standing.

I took the mature driver review because at the age of 89, I needed to reassure myself, family and friends that I was a safe and competent driver. I was nervous but the reviewer immediately put me at ease and I was very comfortable taking the test. "Great course, great host, really recommend!"

I went into this course seeing it as just a way to shorten my ban, but i left the course feeling very glad i had taken part.
Andrew was a great course host, and created a very relaxed and safe space to be very open, inquisitive and really engage, which on group courses, with a group of people you dont know, can often be the polar opposite. so thank you Andrew for that!
The course was packed with information, facts and also other peoples opinions and perspectives. which can really open your mind to deeper thinking and learning.
I have taken away a wealth of knowledge from the course, that will help me not to reoffend, be aware of potential situations i could find myself in that could lead to reoffending (many of which i would of never even thought about or considered) and how to deal with those situations and make the correct and smartest decisions for myself.
i would recommend the course wholeheartedly, not only because it reduces your ban, but it has actually turned out to be a valuable tool for the future personally.
