"Incorrect surname on policy"

I have been a regular customer for travel insurance. I took out a new policy on 3rd September, Upon reading it I noticed that my surname was incorrect. I’ve sent 3 emails over the past couple of weeks to ask if this could be corrected, not one email has been acknowledged. Today I have written an official complaint via the complaints e-mail address, which I am hoping to receive a response to. I appreciate that the company may well be busy, but a simple acknowledgement e-mail advising that they will look in to the matter would be helpful. Unfortunately I will no longer be using Columbus direct for insurance.
They state that you are able to cancel your insurance policy within 14 days of purchase. I find that hard to believe, when you can’t get a response from the company. A waste of money as I now have to take out a new policy from elsewhere.

"Dreadful company"

Please stay away from this dreadful company, we have spent months trying to make a claim for stolen goods on holiday.
They have had everything they have asked us for over 3 times, it takes hours to get to get anywhere they just fob you off, so unhelpful. The insurance was taken through easyJet holidays who knows why they are working with these crooks

"Claim paid out in full!"

Having previously left a negative comment, as my claim's been finally processed last week, I now have to give credit to Columbus insurance.
Our family holiday had to be cancelled 5 days prior to our trip and we only managed to get a partial refund from the hotel and no refund for our plane tickets.
Initially, our claim was rejected by Columbus.
This was down to an (in my opinion) error in Columbus online claims system.
So, I left a negative reviews everywhere I could and then pretty much wrote off almost 2K that we were hoping insurance would pay us back.
Within a few days, I've got a phone call from Columbus. I re-sent some of the documents and was promised that my claim will be dealt with within 48 hours, unless more documentation is needed from me.
Next working day I got an email confirmation that my claim will be paid out within 5 days.
2 days later a full refund (less excess) was in my bank account.
One thing that I do want to make clear. My claim was a for a genuine cancellation that was a result of me having to undergo an eye surgery.
Although I've been with Columbus for many years, I never claimed in the past, although there were situations when I could have (damaged suitcases, missing items of irrelevant value etc) as we see our cover as a security for when things don't work out and the damage is substantial.
I want to thank Anathi as well as anyone else involved in reviewing and processing our claim.
Would I buy Columbus travel insurance again?

"Can’t believe people are still buying…"

Can’t believe people are still buying insurance with this company! Yes website is easy to use, yes the insurance seems good value for money but that’s where it ends. They don’t pay out! I used them for almost 20 years, claimed for the very first time due to a cancelled holiday in lockdown and they refused to pay out saying I could have got to Greece lol! Make sure you read their T&C’s, they can twist it to suit themselves in any situation. Their admin is also useless, they emailed me someone else’s personal details in error including their address, dob etc. I’m assuming that meant my details got to sent to someone else too. Ombudsman not interested, which is why these companies get away with it. Avoid!!!

Columbus Direct - rather than jump on my review why don't you respond to the hundreds of comments on your facebook page which hasn't been updated since February 2020? Your arrogant response just shows the lack of concern for any of your loyal customers. I think you'll find the ombudsman is equally as uninterested in helping consumers, so this does not reinforce or support anything. I will continue to advise people to steer clear of your insurance.

"This is a protracted and frustrating experience"

This is a protracted and frustrating experience.

I'm trying to add a medical conditio but you cannot phone them.

You have to submit a form via their website. If you forget to click on the correct button, you have to start again and key the info all over again.

No effort to speak with you. One phonecall at a random time that was not convenient for me and I now have to start the process all over again and wait several days for them to get in touch. Service is seriously lacking.

I liked the fact that the company took great care to verify my identity. I had made a mistake on my application regarding an email address which meant I didn't receive the insurance documents. They took the trouble to respond quickly to my emails and then phoned me up to correct my error. Nice friendly correspondence and staff contacts. Well done Columbus Direct.

Very quick and easy to set up a policy online, including pre existing medical conditions. No silly questions either. Very happy with this so far.
