Large Holiday Houses

"Never to be trusted again….."
This organisation appears to be completely LOST – and I speak as a previously loyal and satisfied customer who has never before been compelled to write a review.
We have stayed in some lovely LHH properties, and receiving the brochure as the winter approached was always a treat.
However, the behaviour of LHH in the face of Covid 19 has been utterly reprehensible, and it appears from reading these reviews that I am not alone in this opinion.
We were due to take our holiday very shortly after lockdown, so we had paid both our deposit and full balance. Despite repeated requests we have not received a refund from LHH and our insurers will not entertain the idea of paying out as their lawyers have placed that responsibility firmly in the hands of LHH. We cannot afford to lose this money. Fortunately, they are now being investigated by both Highland Trading Standards and the Competition and Markets Authority, so future customers please be aware of that.
During the course of this dispute I have been struck by the terse and high-handed approach LHH have taken in all the communication we have had, and the complete lack of empathy they have displayed. The customer most definitely does not come first. Prior to this last holiday all our previous bookings were done completely online. However, on this occasion and before we knew we wouldn’t be able to take our holiday, I had to phone the office with a query about access to the property. I came away from the call feeling that my genuine question had been an irritation to them. Little did I know it would be a precursor to the tone of communication that would follow.
Some customers have been fortunate to receive pay-outs via their insurance, although of course have had to pay an excess and therefore lost money. Some, though not all, have been given the opportunity to reschedule. Some have even received partial refunds when owners have become involved or the owners themselves have cancelled. Some have successfully managed to get a “chargeback” via their credit card providers. The only consistent things in this situation is the disdain LHH have demonstrated towards their customers and their focus on deflecting the responsibility from themselves to others as regards redress.
I have no personal interest in LHH, but as someone who has spent time in business, I really cannot understand what has caused this company to press the self-destruct button. At the start of the pandemic, it was said several times that people would not forget how they were treated. So many customers placed not only their hard-earned funds but their faith in LHH, but this has been met with a total lack of care or responsibility.

"Lying Holiday Homes Scotland"
This excuse for a company have retained my holiday money on the advice of 'their lawyers'. They are Wright, Johnston and McKenzie and I believe very soon they will change their tune. A juggernaught is coming down the line and will crash these conniving, lying, cheating and downright dishonest practicioners from business. The reputational damage to the legal representatives that support them will be immense. I await their demise.

"Really poor."
We had a dreadful experience with LHH over the summer despite having booked with them several times before. They treated us very shoddily indeed and tried to dodge their contractual responsibilities and fob us off. Their policies during COVID lockdown were very unfair when compared to their competitors. We got our refund and rebooked with Crabtree & Crabtree who had much fairer terms and conditions and were much better to deal with. If LHH had treated us decently we would have been happy to try and rearrange the booking or come to a compromise but they absolutely did not and I would never travel with them again.

"Totally Let Down by LHH"
Shocking company, treated very badly after I was unable to go on holiday after booking a lovely house through them. Not only was it awful to miss a much anticipated holiday but LHH refused to refund. Dismissing all claims and sending solicitors letters. Told it was to be claimed via insurance. Insurance will not pay as it is down to LHH. CMA and Trading Standards will be speaking to them soon. All these recent 5 star reviews, dubious...very dubious. The chap who said he knew the risk of losing cash was on him...who would do that? Sheesh, they are just too obvious, people are not That stupid.

"Scotland August Elgin and Isle of Harris"
Booked a couple of cottages during August for my trip to Scotland. The company handled the Covid-19 restrictions well and all the instructions were clear and of course the risk of cancellation was at my cost. However, luckily we managed to reach both destinations and stay in Urquart near Elgin at a very nice cottage which allowed us to visit Speyside and on the Isle of Harris (which was a holiday of a lifetime, weather, scenery and the high standard of fittings and comfort the Sheep Station One location)

"Chapel House Diabaig."
First of all LHH conducted themselves well during COVID19 crisis unlike a number of their rivals.
The property was extremely well prepares with clear and simple departure instructions 👍👍.
Absolutely fantastic location for us, though I would warn those not aware of this part of Scotland aware of remoteness, particularly if venturing out.
BRILLIANT.

"High quality houses and very good customer service"
I have booked several houses with LHH over the last few years . The houses are of high quality in stunning locations. I have just made a new booking for 2021. I had booked for this summer but was unable to travel because of covid. LHH were extremely helpful in sorting this out and no money was lost . The houses are great and the customer service is absolutely excellent. Highly recommended.

"Very poor company"
My experience with this company has been truly awful. I paid a deposit for a holiday home at Loch Lomond for June and was unable to go due to Covid. Their correspondence with me has been absolutely terrible - no sense of customer care at all. When escalated to the owner the correspondence became almost threatening - using lawyers letters to attempt to justify not providing a refund as other companies have in my own personal experience. I believe organisations such as these will be judged by their actions through this period and am confident this will be the case for LHH. I hope the people who use them to rent out their properties are aware of how terrible their customer service is and realise that they will be tarnished with the same reputation. Please be aware before booking that if you encounter any problems you will not be supported by them
