Shalom Cottage near Leverburgh. Just returned last week, October 11th, from two wonderful weeks at Shalom Cottage. Great location, sunrise to sunset each day from the southerly aspect towards the Minch and in the opposite direction towards Berneray. The resident pair of Golden Eagles were a real treat along with one of the local Otters. Staying safe was an underlying principle throughout the process from early contact to additional cleaning prior to arrival. Wherever we ventured we were warmly greeted and the attention to detail in terms of staying safe was something which many other parts of the UK could aspire to. Great support from LHH, again, and after ten weeks in seven different properties, in the past ten years, in the Western Isles, we look no further than LHH. See you all next year- already booked a couple of weeks for September 21.

"Highly Recommended"
Another fabulous holiday in an LHH property. We found the whole booking experience trouble-free even though we had to cancel a second LHH property at fairly short notice due to changes in restricted occupancy. This was dealt with very efficiently by the admin team with a refund approved less a £50 admin fee, which is acceptable and could probably be reclaimed through travel insurance. The refund of the balance was in our account within a very few days.
With our positive experience in mind, I am surprised to read so many negative comments over recent weeks. I have no doubt these are justified where there have clearly been poor experiences but hopefully LHH are more geared-up to deal with these situations now as these certainly do not reflect our experience.
We have been using LHH for several years now and find the properties are of a very high standard and the LHH team helpful and courteous. It would be a great shame if a spate of negative feedback in such very difficult times affected this business adversely. I can only speak from personal experience and so have no hesitation in heartily recommending LHH. We will certainly remain loyal customers and be booking with you again.

Please be aware that LHH have multiple complaints and legal actions pending against them. They are also using fake accounts and profiles to write their own reviews to try to balance out the floodgate of complaints they are currently trying to firefight.

"My first choice for holidays in the Highlands & Islands"
I’ve been using LHH to book holiday properties 2 or 3 times a year for the past 10 years as, when it comes to properties in the Highlands and Islands, they have the best selection of high- quality houses I’ve found anywhere.
Every property I’ve booked has been as described in the brochure/website and has more than lived up to expectations, most have surpassed them. In 10 years of booking I’ve never had a bad experience or any reason to complain.
The service I’ve had from all contacts in the company have been first class - friendly, extremely knowledgeable and very helpful.
As a frequent traveller to the Western Isles, I do use other companies and/or direct contact with owners for other properties that I’ve seen whilst in the islands or on the internet. In doing so I’ve had a small number of properties that I would definitely not book again !
I had two weeks booked in Apr-20 directly with owners, neither of which would give refunds despite the government lockdown. These I’ve been able to reschedule into 2021 after much back & forth with the owners. I also had two weeks booked in Jun-20 with LHH for which neither refund or rescheduling was offered. Having followed their terms & conditions on booking, I did have travel insurance so after contacting them for the required documentation and guidance, I eventually received refund less a £50 excess from my insurers.
Thankfully, with the relaxing of restrictions in July, I’ve been able to enjoy my September bookings with LHH, all of which have been superb, so much so that I’ve already extended my stay on the islands by two weeks and am about to add another week.
The COVID cleaning policies are clear and fully enforced in each of the properties I’ve stayed in.
I’ve already booked properties for 2021 with LHH and they will remain my first choice for all bookings thereafter.
I would have no hesitation in highly recommending this company to anyone considering a break in Scotland.

As regular customers of LHH my wife & I cannot highly recommend LHH enough for many properties we have had over the last few years.
The advice we have had in making a final choice of where to go has been absolutely exemplary. The director is an absolute pleasure to talk to & her knowledge of all the properties is first class, 5 *.
We are so pleased with this company that since lockdown easing we are currently in our third property this year.
This must surely illustrate how good the companies properties are & how helpful the advice we have been given to make our three choices has been.
Some of our holidays have been in properties that can only be descibed as stunning & in locations that are idyllic.
This is a excellent company & we cannot recommend them highly enough.
We are already planning property rentals for 2021 & 2022 as early bookings are essential to secure the property of your choice.
Use LHH with total confidence that you will have an unbelievable holiday beyond your imagination & with no fear that Covid changes will be dealt with total understanding & customer satisfaction, my repeated buisness is testament to this!
My future holidays will be in LHH properties!!!

Had a brilliant holiday in Beachcombers cottage in South Uist. The booking procedure was straightforward and there were no problems. The cottage itself exceeded our expectations, it was very well equipped and the views were amazing. We are now deciding a date for our next trip there.

Like many other customers of LHH, we too are now in a legal wrangle for return of our deposit. Our contract with LHH for rental of a property in October has become 'frustrated' due to the current COVID restrictions. (At this point, I would also like to make it clear for any other people experiencing the same issues with LHH, that contracts becoming 'frustrated' as a result of COVID have nothing to do with a consumer's decision to take 'cancellation' insurance at the point of booking. Therefore if LHH tries to palm you off with that as a reason, its inaccurate and consumers have protection under a number of different pieces of legislation).
After taking advice from Consumer Advice Scotland and our own lawyer, we may well have to pursue recovery of the deposit through a small claims action, or alternatively through our credit card company (chargeback). Given the absolute non-sensical replies we have received so far from LHH and their complete disregard for the legislation or published guidance from the UK Competitions and Market Authority, I doubt we will get any sort of resolution quickly. However my advice to others is absolutely avoid a booking with them at all costs particularly in this current climate. If you have your heart set on one of the properties marketed on their website, I strongly suggest you go to the owner direct to negotiate your booking. I understand that Highland Council Trading Standards are also now conducting their own investigations due to a deluge of complaints. AVOID !!!

"I've just been contacted by CMA to…"
I've just been contacted by CMA to advise that they have passed my contact details to the Highlands Council Trading Standards Service, who are now actively investigating LHH Scotland. My story mirrors those on this and other similar sites. LHH Scotland has steadfastly refused to refund a deposit of over £1,000 for a holiday rental that government instruction prevented from going ahead. Despite this meeting the legal definition of a frustrated contract, LHH Scotlands' first response was to wash their hands of responsibility and direct towards my insurer. They then offered to re-book next year, but on the strict understanding I would be required to pay in full when making the booking, and that in doing so I agreed to forfeit any refund if government instruction continued to disrupt holiday plans. My insurance company instructed legal action at this point, after which LHH Scotland bombarded me with legal 'advice' which amounted to no more than 'my lawyer is bigger than your lawyer'. One of the many blundering, but despicable attempts to passively coerce customers which have been a common theme during this 'holiday experience'. Thankfully, my bank has now confiscated the funds from LHH Scotland via the chargeback scheme, so the commercial aspects of my experience are now closed. It seems apparent that this company is prepared to do what it takes to avoid refunding deposits, and are willing to rely on customers having to pay more in legal fees than it is worth to recover the money. Subsequently, my advice to anyone considering booking a holiday through LHH Scotland is to read the honest reviews on this site and contemplate the frustration, worry and financial loss they remain happy to impart on unsuspecting customers. Then, ask yourself 'do they deserve your custom'?

"A fabulous week away."
We were very fortunate in the current, ever changing restrictions to have just had the most amazing week on Lewis in Miavaig House without any changes or disappointments.
This is such a lovely property in a beautiful area.
The owner Lynne was extremely helpful.
The house was very spacious, comfortable, warm and very well equipped.
We can only report that all dealings with LLLH were professional and the housekeeping deposit returned quickly and efficiently.

"Refund received promptly after cancellation due to Covid rules"
We are a group of friends who have booked many times with LHH for large New Year houses. This year we have been forced to cancel due to the changes in the law about large groups meeting indoors. LHH have been fantastic - returned our deposit with no questions or hassle. Refunded within 48 hours of my request to cancel. Only kept a £50 admin fee - which seemed fair enough bearing in mind what companies like this are going through at the moment. Great communication - both over the phone and by email. Thank you LHH - so sorry we can't travel with you this year - but we will be back.
