Hired Steve and Georgina Woods of 'Able Investigations dot com', to recover a debt through a High Court Writ as they advised this would be a much more expedient method than relying on the County Court Bailiffs to enforce the judgement I had already obtained.
I appointed them in September 2023 paying the fees to transfer to the High Court and obtain a High Court Writ. After about a month with no communication from them, i began the arduous task of chasing them. Despite almost weekly calls and emails to them the rarely responded and when they did it was to fob me off with more excuses.
Ultimately after five months of excuses I gave up with them and asked for the fees I had paid to be returned. They eventually replied agreeing to return my fees but no funds were forthcoming. I sent several reminders to them, but got no response.
I then contacted a local Solicitor whom I paid a fee of £150+vat to advise me the best course of action.
They assisted with completing an application for me though MCOL (money Claim Online) and I thought I would give Able Investigations a last chance to remit payment before submitting the claim.
They have now paid back the initial fee payment (albeit £1 less than I paid them, but are refusing to cover the solicitors costs stating they were not 'warned' I was seeking legal advise!
They have replied with "we will not be paying any further fees. There was no seven day, nor pre-action protocol letter, advising of late payment action.." adding, "Of course, you are more than welcome to start county court proceedings, however, this will be defended vigorously".
Seemingly, this seeming professional firm by virtue of they web site, is nothing more than a two man band of unprofessionals who farm out all they work and when it goes wrong refuse to take any accountability and blame there own sub-contractors.....
If you want to recover any debts, AVOID THEM! Stick with the County Court Bailiffs; if I had the enforcement would have been long since resolved and without all the headache of dealing with this firm.
I shall return to my solicitor and take advise as to wether to pursue them for the costs I have incurred.

Forced entry in the house whilst i opened the front door for my friend knocking her over , then a neighbour and myself fought with the bailiff until the police arrived , he will be getting done for assault and not following procedure. Im truly shocked the goverment uses this company when you can clearly see their track record.

My son, who has a learning difficulty got into debt. I paid his first instalment by direct debit only to receive a letter saying that that months payment hadn't been made. I pointed out that it had left my account and was told to send in a photo of my bank statement. I couldn't work out how so sent in a photocopy. A couple of months later when I rang to make a payment, I asked and was told the direct debit payment had been found. I certainly didn't receive a letter saying this was the case and there wasn'the much of an apology although they were quick to write to say when they thought a payment was missing. I have just received the bank statement I sent in, back, via the royal mail who said it couldn't be delivered. I sent it to the address on the letters my son had been sent. It all seems very suspect to me. I asked for dates of payments I had made and was told I had to email in for this information. Not a professional organisation by a long chalk!

I had an ongoing problem with a debtor and he was not replying to me after telling me a lot of lies that I would receive the amount owed on several occasions, but never paid. Court Enforcement Services did a fantastic job and the debtor paid in full. Thank you so much.
