"Good Installers, but shady Sales Tactics."

PRODUCT
We are completely satisfied with the quality of the products supplied and feel that they are fairly substantial and should last for a long time.

INSTALLATION
We had 9 windows and a new door fitted by Penicuik.
Unfortunately we were not told that you could have 'low threshold' door frames and ended up with the standard ones which are 'dirt traps'.
The team involved with the installation were really good.
They arrived as promised and completed the install as per schedule we were given.
We had only a couple of minor issues which needed rectification and this was carried out promptly and to our satisfaction.
We have had the product now for 3 months and so far all is well.

SALES TACTICS
Did not like their approach where totally ridiculous prices are quoted initially which end up being halved if you take the 'offer' which is only valid 'on that day'. (Obviously designed to prevent you from getting other quotes)
No matter what the final price happens to be, you will feel that you have been 'Done'!
Not sure what happens to the 'on the day' price if you tell them to come back tomorrow? I suspect the price would remain as it is really just an 'underhand' tactic to make you sign up there and then.
The sales staff themselves are not underhand, but the tactic used by Penicuik most certainly is.

"Mixed feelings the guy that installed …"

Mixed feelings the guy that installed my windows did the job mostly well but he left one of my windows unsealed at the top I'll pass it off as an easy mistake but getting a hold of customer service has been a little to difficult over the past week called twice got ahold of them today and it's getting sorted next week is rate this place higher if not for it being difficult to get ahold of ...the windows are good tho

"BUNCH OF COWBOYS!!!!!"

Would give 0 Stars but dont have that option
We had French Doors fitted 3 years ago and paid for them in full with our hard earned savings
They were fitted in October 2014 and straight away we were waking up to puddles of water! An engineer came out which took weeks as they obviously have so many faults to fix!
The engineer said the whole of the outside had not been sealed and he fixed this which we thought would be the end of it!
We then started to get mould right along the silicone along the bottom of the windows inside as they were constantly wet, the wooden surrounds on the end were going mouldy, We had another engineer sent out who tried to blame us and said we were not ventilating the room!
The mould continued to get worse and when we moved our wall unit which was next to the doors it was covered in mould and ruined and also there was considerably mould growing along the bottom of the wall!!!! The curtains were also going mouldy along the bottom with the continual dampness!
We had to re-decorate at a cost to ourselves :( but the mould has come back :(
We continued complaining to no avail and finally after all the stress and upset of the last 3 years my husband put a bad review on trust pilot and we were contacted straight away and an engineer sent out!
He said that the windows hadn't been sealed properly anywhere and we were continually getting water in!!! At long long last they were admitting liability and there might be some light at the end of the tunnel!
So the same engineer was booked to come out & refit windows which was done a couple of months ago and we were advised to send quotes for decorating and for additional damage to curtains and wall unit.
So we got quotes as requested and sent to Kirsty McDowell at JOB'S WORTH DOING (The Fitters - Another bunch of Cowboys!) to then be told that the company we originally dealt with had gone into administration on the 31st August and had been taken over by a co called Entu Plc and that any repair work was now chargeable!!!!!
So the 10 year guarantee that we were given at the start isn't even worth the paper it is written on! and now the weather is getting colder we are getting awful condensation and the mould is returning already after only being refitted a couple of months ago!
So we still have faulty ,windows, mouldy walls and damaged goods and if we want anything done we will be even more out of pocket as they are refusing to do anything about it without a cost to ourselves :( :( :(
We have 2 young children so these living conditions have been unhealthy to say the least
I honestly cannot warn you enough to stay well clear of PENICUIK and the fitting company JOB's WORTH DOING (that name in itself is a joke!)
This has truly been the worst and the Most Stressful experience of my whole life and it still continues :(

"Customer care is nonexistent."

Getting an installation from Penicuik is like gambling. If the installation is perfect then great, if it’s not then you may or may not get a response and it’s like gambling as the cance of getting contacted or stuff fixed is less likely rather than a prompt reply. It’s garrenteed for 10 years but after a few weeks you can’t get them to fix what they put in wrong, that garentee is worthless.

Even when you finally get the manager of the Muir of Ord depo for a Job Worth Doing come to your house and promise it will get fixed you still 3 moths later, nothing.

Windows put in back to front, warped glass, marks on the inside of the glass. “Don’t worry, that will be fixed sir”. One whole year later and we are still waiting.

Routinely get told that “we have emailed the depo” by customer services, or “we have escalated this” but never getting responded to. The local depo won’t pick up the phone or respond to emails.

All we want is the 3 glass panels turned round and put in the correct way so they work, a tiny cap sent out for our handle and the faulty glass pain replaced. As the whole house was done and we paid a lot but but yet we get ignored for a year with these few faults to get resolved.

I’ll post a 1 star review every week that we are still ignored going forward and it’s crazy that the only way you get a response is when you give a bad public review. Especially as when they last visited the stated that we should change our review as they fix our issues ASAP, this was 3 months ago.

"Stay clear!"

I got new windows and doors from Penicuik but a week later the back door wouldn’t lock. I tried to contact them with no luck on getting a reply so I phoned the guy who had given me the quote. He managed to get someone out. Last week it broke again and when I phoned I was told that the company had gone bust and I had no warranty. They offered to fix it but I would have to pay. Usually I would have posted on their fb page but I didn’t want to advertise the fact I had an unlocked door all the time. I’ve since got another company to fix it and thinking of going to the press to make people aware, I was contacted firstly on the phone by the green deal and I’m sure others will also have taken the offer up.

"Don't let them into your house, ever!"

After seeing their sales post on Facebook we decided to have a quotation done. They had no reps in the Aberdeen area and so we had to wait for a guy to come up from Dundee.

We were told that it would be 1 hour max for the quote and yet 3 1/2 hours later, he was still in our house, with no measurements being taken and no money discussed. What we got was marketing diagrams, information about how he was a trained engineer, upselling the product and "assessing" our current windows.

We asked him to hurry up and get to some numbers instead of asking us how much money we had. He wanted 'on the night' agreements signed from us, we just don't do stuff like that and so we asked him to leave, it was taking far to long anyway and he had come up with no quote.

He wouldn't leave our house and called his manager with some laughable script about going through all the options and then told his manager we were kicking him out, so we asked for his phone and spoke to this "manager" at the end and it appeared to be a person that was unable to speak and (from the sounds of things) possibly sitting in a pub somewhere with no idea what we were talking about.

A further 15 minutes passed of him apologising and eventually, he left our house and then stood outside for 10 minutes.

Don't use these guys, aggressive and dated sales strategy, poorly scripted sales pitches and if they are in your home they won't leave.

"Roofline Products PR 21287 Replacement …"

Roofline Products PR 21287 Replacement Guttering,Facia and Soffits.
In May 2017 I signed a contract for several thousand pounds for Penicuik to replace the guttering, facia and soffits on our bungalow.

On 20th June 2017 the two workman arrived (Employed by Job Worth Doing) and completed all the work on the 23rd June. It actually looked great and there was no problem with the workman at all.

A couple of months later the soffits started leaking rainwater at the backdoor in several places. I contacted Penicuik customer services who said they would communicate the issue with their management. Since then, the rectification work has not been sorted out, despite me contacting customer services on at least 6 occasions. I have even discussed the issue with people from Penicuik on their Facebook page with success.

This afternoon I was contacted by Penicuik customer services and explained what the issues were. The lady informed me they CANNOT honour WARRANTY Claims for contracts that were signed before 1st June 2017 even though my work didn't start until 20th June 2017. This was due to according to the lady, Penicuik have now got a new parent company and a decision has been made by the management that WARRANTIES cannot be honoured.aware

I note that Penicuik are still trading... so I ask people to be fully aware what is happening.

Latest: This morning (23rd November) the guys who carried out the work came and confirmed the two areas where the soffit are dripping. After investigation, together we confirmed (by carrying out tests) that the cause of the leak WAS NOT due to the work that has been carried out by Penicuik. I will now get this quickly sorted. Thank you Penicuik and Job Worth Doing(Brian). I have increased my rating on Penicuik

"Got Penicuik to come and price for new soffit works"

Got Penicuik to come and price for new soffits and facials,worst thing I ever done. Salesman and surveyed assured me no problems with the work, Ha Ha Ha not so. Firstly scaffolder did not turn up on day as informed, two teams arrived to start work but could not gaurantee that they would not damage roughcast around facia and soffits. Dissalusioned I sent them away until this issue was resolved, on second visit fitter has now told me that additional works will be required to accommodate my downlighters this means soffits will have to be scribed to roughcast and then sealed with a good quality silicone, not happy about this at all

My recommendation to anyone getting Penicuik to do works is to thouraly go over what’s required and how it will be done DONT go by sales person or Surveyer they talk a load of bull**** I am now committed to getting them to do my works but under duress, lets see how they finish the job eh !!!!!

"Had the unfortunate bad judgement to …"

Had the unfortunate bad judgement to replace three windows and a door and I wouldnt even give them one star. The first set of windows and door had to be replaced they had been measured too small the door frame had a twist in it Penicuik offered to fit pieces on either side trading standards helped me to get replacements. The windows and door are worse than the ones they replaced draughty and traffic noise is terrible. Door handle had to be replaced after a week and now the door dosent lock at times. Guarantee is worthless went into administration and new company will not honour . But guess what Penicuik windows have started up in business again with a different company in charge...Please do not use this company
