"Horrific!! Avoid at all costs!! In administration!!!"

Horrific company to have work done with. Windows fitted in May, they farmed the work out to Job Worth Doing. The whole lot had to be redone due to poor workmanship. Resulting in £800 compensation. However they would only pay this if we signed the credit agreement for the remaing balance (they took £2000 deposit no bother though). Our fire window has been faulty since the fit. In fact the locking mechanism is sitting on the window sill. Complaint after complaint. False promise after false promise. Now both companies are in administration and will not up hold the compensation (which was awarded in June). And we got annemail from a "manager" advising that the call out to fix the window (that has never been fixed) would now cost £100 as the new company are not honouring any warranty for windows fitted prior to 1.6.2017. However as good will they will waive this!!!! Raging

"Good workmen!"

I don't usually leave reviews but since it was nearly all bad reviews I'd read thought I'd share mine. My review however is mainly about the fitting of the windows and the workmen. Couldn't ask for 2 nicer workmen (Craig and Stuart) to be working in my house. Very friendly, tidy and hardworking. Really happy with my finished windows and door.

"Worst company ever"

Ordered Penicuik windows and door with the promise of 2-3 day installation. Fitters are "Job Worth Doing" but that title was not in the mindset of the fitters sent to me. They broke a window and damaged another on day one leaving my home like a post hurricane. On day 2 they botched a sil and had no replacement so left early with several other issues left assuring they would return on the Monday but no show and no contact with office number not being answered. Took until Wednesday to make contact with branch manager who assured me completion that morning, fitters arrived1.45 pm! 3 weeks to get broken window replaced so boarded up for this time. Residual repairs by plasterer and engineer not rectified until 4 months after job start!! Extremely poor customer service with field managers not returning my calls, total lack of interest by the company in progressing the outstanding issues until they started pushing for payment. I will add fitters who replaced broken window and engineer who was sent to rectify issues were very helpful just a pity this is not the norm. Extremely difficult company to contact with phone line cutting you off without answer or voicemail and worst of all so called managers not updating customer or taking ownership of customer issues. To add insult to injury I was phoned today by a female stating she worked for the company and her call was due to this review which she wanted to apologise for the service but then threw in their parent company Entu had gone into administration and any order prior to 31/08/2017 which included mine no longer holds the promised 10 year guarantee. Do not go anywhere near this company who appear to be setting up as a new company and leaving customers with no after care. We shall be pursuing legal advice.

"Horrendous company... don't touch Penicuik!!!"

Again I am having to post a review. DO NOT SIGN WITH PENICUIK... unless you want a half finished job then no one answers you to complete the job. I have been calling jobs worth for weeks and emailing customer services. I am yet to get a response. Didn't even get a response to my review. My windows were fitted in may but still one of my windows doesn't even open. I live in an upper floor flat so you can understand why I would worry about a fire. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with.. horrendous customer service and absolutely no regard for customers. They have been paid so now they are not interested.

"A shambles of a company"

A shambles of a company - stay well clear - they seem unable to measure windows properly, follow basic design instructions, meet installation dates or even pick up the phone to keep their customers in the loop.

We have been waiting 9 months for windows which we were promised would be ready within 2-3 months and the so called 'manager' won't return calls or emails.

Avoid this company at all costs - they only care about taking your money and have absolutely no idea what customer service means!

"Penicuik Windows/Jobs Worth Doing go into Administration Your Warranties No Longer Valid"

Penicuik/Jobs worth doing were paid £18,000 to fit double glazing window units to our property. They were paid to replace old sash/case windows by the previous elderly owners and to our horror when we bought the property we discovered they had installed the windows onto old rotten wood, they left the old casings in place and just covered them with plastic. They also did not measure the windows properly and basically put thick pieces of wood underneath onto bare stone sills to prop them up and then covered them with plastic. The quality of the windows used were really poor with easily broken handles, windows that will not open and windows that now will not lock closed so the wind pulls them open.

We have been in contact with Jobs Worth Doing for over a year to have our windows fixed and today we have just found out that the parent company to Penicuik and Jobs Worth Doing has gone into administration and they are not honouring any warranties so now we will have to pay to have them fixed.

I would not trust this company for their workmanship, their customer services and my over all view would be to find a small local contractor who will treat you far better than this national company will.

Please do your research on this company before you use them, as they also went into administration in 2007, is this a 10 year pattern for them?? The parent company is called Entu but apparently there is no new name for them yet.

So Penicuik and Jobs Worth Doing will get to continue trading under these names but will now no longer fix or repair any work completed before Monday 04 September 2017.

Trading Standards here we come.....

"Horrendous aftercare!!!!!!!!"

9 months down the line and we are STILL waiting on someone to come and fix our door as the panel was put on back to front. when the engineer came to fix it - he moved the side panels instead so they are now all back to front.
The patio door Glass is warped and full of air bubbles.
We have lost count of the amount of times we have been assured this will be fixed and still nothing yet.
Once they have your money - customer service is out the window!!
One of the worst companies for customer aftercare.

"Good service up until installation"

All customer service was brilliant up until the point where our windows were installed. I could not complain. However, since the completion of our Windows being installed, the customer service has been a joke. Our agreement with the company was a promise of £1000 cashback that would be with us before the first payment was due. Four months down the line we still have no sign of the cheque and are over drawn in our bank. My partner has been phoning the company to chase up our cashback and has been told excuse after excuse like people have been off sick and the latest is the banking system is down. We feel as if the company are complete cowboys and we are now in debt.

Due to our experience we will not be using the company ever again.

"Continuous delays and promises that aren't kept. Very little accountability."

P53917
P55270

This company sold us and seems to sell products efficiently, but once you sign on the dotted line it's a pain to try to schedule anything.

The problem appears to be the lack of ability to coordinate/manage the interaction between scaffolding companies, windows manufacturers, different branches of Penicuik, and the actual window installation teams. There is also a lack of accountability and motivation to fix issues once they arise.

Here is an outline of our current Penicuik journey...

Early May - We signed a contract to have our front windows replaced.

May - To start with, everything went well - the scaffolding was up the day before the window installation team were to arrive. On the day of, the team arrived at 8:30am and were done by 2pm. Great! Except that one of the windows was a slightly different size than the others (two on either side were identical but middle one was a different size - they were ALL supposed to be identical). We spoke to a manager and were told that that needed to be fixed.

Late May - Sign a new contract to get our back windows replaced. So far everything seemed to be going very well and sales/management team seemed accountable, we were just waiting for the one replacement window.

Mid June - Fast forward a few weeks and many conversations later, some work-men arrived to fix the middle window in the front and start work on the back windows. Several problems arose:

1. No Scaffolds had been put up out the back so the team decided to work on replacing the window.

2. The windows they had received from the manufacturer were a DIFFERENT model of window, which were not like the ones we had already purchased and had been installed in the front.

So we were told that they'd have to order some new windows from the manufacturer and come again at a later date.

Late June - We were a week away from holiday (away for 5 weeks) and no news as to our new windows. Tom Hannah, a Penicuik manager came to the house and took a look around and assured us that the scaffolding would be taken down by the end of the week (our neighbours were getting pretty fed up, and rightly so).

The assured us that after we were back from our holiday they would come and fix everything and install the new windows. My partner talked with him at length and they had scheduled a date of August 9th.

Mid July - Scaffolding went down 3 weeks into our vacation - as attested to by our neighbours.

August 8th - My partner called Penicuik just to check that he'd have to take a day off work the following day in order to let the installation team into the building. Again several problems arose.

1. There was no record of our scheduled date for August 9th - so of course no-one was coming to do anything.
2. The manager Tom was on holiday so nothing could really be done before he got back.
3. Our new windows were at a DIFFERENT branch and would need to be shipped to 'our' branch..

They said they'd give us a call when that happened.

August 15 - My partner called Penicuik to ask about the progress and to speak to Tom. Tom was unavailable and the windows are STILL at another branch. My partner asked to be called back by Tom sometime yesterday morning and the person on the phone told him that without a doubt he would get that phone-call... 24hrs later, there's been no phone-call.

Today (August 16) - I've tried multiple times this morning to get in touch with Penicuik however the phone is either busy or keeps ringing until it times out.

The accountability with this company is severely lacking. It started well, but quickly fell apart.

EDIT/UPDATE - After this review I did receive a call and things were arranged quickly... however:

August 24th: After speaking to the manager, who was very apologetic, and more promises - the scaffolding has come up on time as promised...

The windows which we were promised to be the same as the ones that have already been fitted in the front (with internal hinges) are not. We were explicitly told that the windows would be the same - I discussed this over the phone last week with the manager. We have now been promised that the order for the correct windows will be placed at some point this week.

EDIT/UPDATE 2

September 22nd: No communication at all other than us trying to call multiple times. Once we got through, apparently the windows have still not arrived but they have been ordered.

Seems to be that the majority of people here with complaints get Penicuik to somehow respond when it's of the realm of public visibility. After 8months of banging my head of a wall with them this is my only option as customer support is useless. It's absolutely impossible to get anyone to pickup the Aberdeen branches number, anyone I have been dealing with has now left the company.
So @customer support team, can you look at my case number and get one of the directors to call me back before I go through the courts to get this resolved.

**Installation manager did not call back!!! **
