"I am 91 and Never Agreed to Anything!"

I am 91 and while I was in rehab recovering from back surgery 2 salespeople came to my home. They pushed my family in to agreeing to a month to month and the equipment was supposedly being leased not bought. Yesterday I called to cancel and was told I had a 5 year contract and owned the equipment!
I never agreed, signed or approved any of this yet when I told them I was not going to pay after this month they threatened my credit!
This was supposedly the head of the company! He said he needed to take the matter up with the board but wouldn’t promise anything! I have filed a complaint with the BBB.
The equipment doesn’t work most of the time, can’t even get the doorbell camera to work, no video and since there is no longer 3g is their equipment doesn’t work as it should! They even have it posted on their website apologizing to customers!

"1) PLEASE do not go with this company"

1) PLEASE do not go with this company, learn from our mistakes. We got suckered into signing after a sales person sold us on the product. This product IS EXPENSIVE for a mediocre product. We paid 6x a year what Ring costs and don't even have any video monitoring. Not only is the expense insane, the contract is absurd. We fulfilled our 42 month contract (what were we thinking, a 42 month contract is actually insanity) and without any notification got auto renewal for another 18 months. Well that would have been fine if we could have canceled without being charged, but NOPE that auto renewal also came with an auto renewal of the termination fees, that were over $1000 dollars. This is a very predatory contract and I feel sick to my stomach that there was no way to get out of this contract. PLEASE do not go with this system, it is not worth it in so many ways.

"Hopefully a dying star!!"

I want to relay what most people are saying. You can't get out of your contract without going to collections. I tried when I became unemployed. They said I could "buy out" ~$1,800 contract (gee, did I mention I'm unemployed...) Then they say I have to cancel within 60 days of my contract expiring. I call back about 50 days prior only to be told I had to cancel PRIOR to 60 days. Don't rely on the truth being in the logs (that they only have access to) because the tech I spoke to put in notes HE wanted. I had to restart my service with them (I guess I'm supposed to thank them...) or my credit would take a hit. So now I get a reduced rate, I have my termination letter in so that (God willing) if the rules stay the same I'll be out of it in 3 years (original renewal was 18 months, but in order to get the $200+ I owed from back payments I didn't make to be waived...) Again, just start to finish this company is one to ABSOLUTELY steer clear of!!! Hopefully people read these reviews BEFORE looking at this company's "deal"...

"It’s a nightmare to get out of their…"

It’s a nightmare to get out of their contract. I cancelled my contact 2 years ago and paid $500 for early termination. Now they are telling me it was a pre payment of service. I have called them multiple times to explain this and was told that my contract has been terminated. Today I got a call that I will be sent to collections if I do not pay what is owed on my account. Stay as far away from this company as you can.

"CROOKED COMPANY PRACTICES"

When northstar came out in June of 2021 to replace the outdate panel, they had my husband sign what the tech described as a work order to prove they did the work and there was a clause that they we had to pay another 3 years, that was not discussed. I would say that is deceptive trade to say the least. We sent a written notice to Northstar to cancel our service, they said we could not get out of the contract. I guess they will cancel when payments stop. Our equipment does not work, Skybell is totally gone, doorbell does not even work.
We have been advised, and will, file a complaint with the Attorney General's office. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, CROOKS.

"They will keep “auto renewing” your…"

They will keep “auto renewing” your contract and charging you hundreds to get out of it. We waited 18 months for our contract to end to call and cancel and then were told we’d have to wait another 18 months because when we signed up FIVE years ago the contract said it could auto renew. They send out no notification of renewal-most likely so they can hopefully lock you in without you catching it. Shady company, crappy equipment, crappy customer service.

"Zero Star...CRIMINALS is what comes to…"

Zero Star...CRIMINALS is what comes to mind when dealing with this company. Tried to get ahold of this company since the beginning of the year to cancel my 5-year contract only to say that it can't be terminated until May when contract expires. When May comes around any I call to cancel, they said I needed to cancel in writing within 60 days of contract expiring. As a result, contract extended an additional 18 months. This company is the exact reason I will never deal with ANY company that tries to sell me something at the door. Pitiful excuse of a company!!!!

"Do not use Northstar"

Do not use Northstar. I called every 3 months to get my services cancelled and was told to call in April and when I did they told me I was locked into an additional 18month due to not sending a notification of cancellation in May. I was not told May. Then they said that they could give me a discount is I signed another 3 year contract, but not on the 18 month contract. This company doesn't do anything extra for you than a more reliable company and when a monitor or motion detector breaks, they want to charge you to fix it. Choose a different company.

"Why pay you for me to fix it myself"

Sales guy sold me on how prompt y'all are to get out and take care of any issue with the system. Called in today to have a tech sent out due to door bell not working and got the run around and was told I would have to call back when I am at the home so I can trouble shoot the system. When I spend $4,000 on your system and pay you monthly on top of that I expect y'all to trouble shoot it not me!

"NorthStar Horrible Customer Service"

My family (my mother) has been stuck with these people since June 2015. They automatically extend the contract 18 months and won't let you cancel it.

Since the account was in my mother's name and she passed away, Northstar added my name to the account without any documentation, so it couldn't be cancelled. The hardware was run through a landline which was disconnected last summer. NorthStar is not interested in the customer having updated equipment either. The current equipment is 7 years old and beeps because ATT removed 3G towers. There is no monitoring as the equimpent is no longer receiving a signal. NorthStar is only interested in collecting their money from customers.

All around NOT NICE OR PROFESSIONAL people. The word fraud comes to mind.
