"If I could present no stars I would"

If I could present no stars I would. This company locks you into a contract and makes you jump through hoops to cancel. Your responsible for the contract in its entirety. You end up paying for services you don't get. recently the 3g service they used for cellular networking went down and they sent me a modem that clearly stated this product contains chemicals that will cause cancer. I called and explained that I had recently loss my daughter and father to cancer and really didn't want to expose my grandchildren and elderly mother to this caustic device and because they had no other solution to giving me what I paid for I asked if they would cancel my contract 2months early. I was met with fierce resistance! The rep on the other end said your in the contract you will have to pay what you owe before we can end the contract. HEARTLESS.... I completely understand business but if your not giving me the ability to communicate with the control panel you gave me without exposing my family to cancer causing agents I should have a choice not to use your services based on that knowledge and you should end my services upon request without expecting me to fulfill a contract that is not complete in its delivery.
Are we not able to make sound decisions to protect our families without having to pay extra for it? This seems ridiculous to me.
I will NEVER use NorthStar Home again, and I'm advising everyone and anyone that see's this don't make the mistake I did by choosing this company.

"Better off getting a dog for security rather than use NorthStar Home!"

Zero stars! Do NOT under any circumstance sign a contract with this company! Their business practices are shady at best and wouldn't surprise me if some of their contracts are quite possibly not above board. Long story short we moved out of state and were originally told they did not service our new area so we could terminate our account with a $250 early termination fee. Well, several phone calls, several emails and several months later they all of a sudden determined they have service in our new area. At this point I don't trust them and wouldn't take their service if it were given to me free! I have asked them on many, many different occasions to pull several recorded phone calls to determine what was originally said to me and my husband. It has taken them 9 months to do so and of course they pulled the two phone calls that collaborated their side of the story after which time they had time to change their original version. At this point they are turning my account over to collections. I will also be pursuing legal actions of my own for pure principal. Consumers should not be held hostage to companies that do not honor their contracts nor appreciate their customers. The worst customer service I have ever experienced!!

"Do not go with this company."

They hard to get a hold of. Not reliable. They make it difficult for one to cancel without getting penalized. Poor customer service they don’t make you feel valued as a customer. I would not or never recommend this poor rated service. When equipment goes out they make difficult for you to get your system running properly. When you try to call to get help it take forever to get someone on the line or they never get on the line to assist you. I’m sorry, I’m just a very unsatisfied customer that hasn’t had the opportunity or to get a Chance and given the opportunity to cancel upon my wish. I think the business burial should look into then and here the complainant of there customers. No star rating for northstar.

"Do not get them!"

Do not get them!! I canceled my contract and now they can’t find it and renewed my contract. Beware! Very expensive and Horrible support!

"We had a power outage"

We had a power outage. When the power came back on, the device set up in the garage that lets you open and close the garage door from the northstar app, was beeping and flashing. When I called customer service. They told me to take the batteries out. There were no batteries!! It’s connectedto electricity. Duh, If they were batteries it would’ve started beeping and flashing after the electricity came back on. They need customer service people who know what they’re talking about. Also for two or three years I have been charged for a thermostat I do not have. I have contacted customer service several times and not once has I’ve been removed from my bill.

"Horrible company"

Horrible company, I been trying to get out of their contract for months and they always find something to keep me hook, their faulty equipment will work for a few months and after that they will charge you for every technician visit. Stay away from this company, nothing but a scam.

DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE INTO YOUR HOMES!!! They do not honor there contract with you and do not let you out of your contract. IF you can talk with anyone they give you a run around. Complete scam!

"Unethical company that uses cheap…"

Unethical company that uses cheap underhanded tricks to prolong contracts. Salesmen paraphrase contract and omit the 18 month extension if you don't cancel in time. Damaged caused to my home, not repaired and poor customer service.

"I am active duty military and will be…"

I am active duty military and will be PCS'ing across country. We called and were told all we needed was to provide orders and they would cancel our contract. 7 days later they emailed and said that they still provide service in the area I was traveling to and i could not cancel. I called again and was told if the property manager would not allow for the NorthStar alarm system then they would cancel. I showed them in the lease agreement that I was not allowed to alter the alarms systems and still NorthStar has not allowed my cancellation. They are citing that it doesn't specifically say that there can not be two systems in the home. I have been trying for over a month to get NorthStar the "next" document that they need to cancel and am still no closer. NorthStar is making an already stressful move across country even worse. No other company that i have worked with has made things this difficult. I recommend that you keep searching for any other company unless you enjoy being treated like a number with no concern for you as a human.
