"At least now I can say I have done a night train..."

The train was on the older side (1980-ish) and while not overly glamorous it was comfortable enough. Our assigned berth didn't have any bedding and upon running down a porter, he mentioned he had moved us because the window was broken. How would we have know that otherwise? He then had to kick out two travelers who had squatted in our new berth. Later in the trip another traveler knocked on the door saying this berth was his and we had to run down the porter again. It made for an awkward moment but luckily the traveler was gracious about it as my family had already settled in.

In regards to the food onboard, the breakfast boxes were not worth the money. There was a dining car with dinner that was to be booked via email but we never got the email to do so. We did get to chatting with folks that had ordered the dinner and had been waiting 2+ hours for it.

"3rd world kind of service"

We booked our trip weeks in advanced with Couchettes Comfort: 5-person compartment - private and was assigned a carriage number, which during the trip was occupied by other passengers of whom was told that they can use that carriage as no one will use it (some corrupt practices), we we're reassigned together with our luggage 7 cars away from our originally assigned carriage and had to move while the train was moving. Worst experience ever considering the amount paid for this trip. Not worth the money and definitely not customer friendly.

"Punctual train, old carriages but it got us to Dresden safely"

The train left and arrived on time, and the train stewards seemed friendly. I had booked a private couchette for two of us (the sleepers were unavailable or booked). We had lots of room because of that, which was nice. There wasn't a restaurant carriage as we travelled before it started in December, but we were given a bottle of water each. The flip down beds were quite hard though, and the sheet sleeping bag that were provided just reminded me of an old fashioned YHA, and not in a good way. We had an alarm go off on our carriage at around 3am. It went off after 5 minutes but we weren't told why it started. My main complaint though was that a group of young men got on at Schipol and were drinking and talking loudly, and they were still up when the alarm went off, but a steward didn't ask them to keep quite. I would book again, but preferably in a Sleeper.

In meinem Waggon gab es kein Wasser und die Toiletten und Waschräume waren geschlossen, ich musste durch zwei Reihen gehen, bis ich eine Toilette fand. Stuart hat einfach vergessen, mir ein Bett zu geben und ich dachte, ich hätte ein Ticket für 560 Euro gekauft und müsste die ganze Nacht sitzen, später ging ich auf den Flur und sah, dass alle Leute Betten hatten und schliefen! Ich suchte Stuart für mindestens 5 Waggon. Und dann gab mir ein Mann mit wütendem Gesicht ein Bett und ein Kissen! Es war die erste und letzte Reise mit dir. Ich fliege nicht gern, aber mit dem Flugzeug ist es besser.

"Round trip Rotterdam - Prague - Rotterdam"

This was our second time traveling with the European Sleeper, and while the train was on time (which is great), our first experience was much better than this one. The return trip from Prague to Rotterdam wasn’t great. Our couchette wasn’t very clean—there was dust in lots of places, one of the water bottles was already open when we arrived, and there was leftover paper and an empty water bottle left on the top bunk.

It was also super noisy that night, and we barely got any sleep. The bathrooms weren’t kept clean either—there was no toilet paper or towels being replaced, so I had to use my own tissues halfway through the trip. Plus, one of the toilets was out of order.

The restaurant car was a nice touch, but honestly, it felt a bit overpriced for what they had to offer.

"European Sleeper non experience !!!"

I strongly advise anyone thinking of using this service to think again. I used them for a special birthday of mine and had a dreadful experience. My booking being downgraded 6 days before we left due to sleeper carriage not being available. The downgrade was a old coach with bench seats that became our bed. Given a cotton sheet as a bed cover and the coach being cold. Also no dining carriage as it was not available so we got a box with chocolate and a protein bar instead. Coffee was a struggle to as there was only 1 member of staff looking after our carriage and the machine was playing up. On top of this we arrived into Prague very tired and over 1 hour late. The whole experience was dreadful and took us a day to recover. We have asked for refunds which we have partly received but nowhere near what we deserve. In summary this service is nowhere near the experience it advertises and should really take a look at it self if it wants to continue in my opinion. IT WAS TERRIBLE BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE!!!!

"Viajamos de Ámsterdam a Dresden Alemania"

Viajamos de Amsterdam a Dresden en coche cama cuchetas ES453 no eran lo más cómodo pero todo limpio y prolijo. Pagamos tarifa con desayuno incluido, nos preguntaron a qué hora lo queríamos y dijimos a las 7 am pero nunca lo trajeron tuve que ir al coche bar a reclamar 2 veces ya que debíamos tomar medicación con el desayuno y no valía lo que pagamos, conviene ir al bar y pagarlo ahí en el momento. Los horarios puntuales.

"Punctual, comfortable enough, restaurant well done"

I was allocated sole use of a couchette compartment from Brussels to Berlin, having paid to share. European Sleeper use old carriages and the upper berths are usually more comfortable than the lower ones… I had free choice!
Compartment had what I needed, and was clean. Ditto the toilet/washroom. Train left on time and arrived on time. So that's the basics all sorted.
Truly impressed though by the dining car. Well presented, fun atmosphere, friendly staff, decent food at a price that was reasonable for a night train.

"No-frills, but comfortable"

Took the train from Brussels to Dresden.

The sleeper service is no-frills, which is reflected in its price. I booked a 6-person mixed-gender cabin with couchettes to sleep. Given the cabin size, it is quite cramped, particularly with luggage from 6 people. However, the couchettes provided enough room to lie down comfortably, and the temperature in the cabin was well-controlled. Blankets, sheets, and pillows are also offered as standard. Overall, the train journey was comfortable, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the train was punctual.

If you're planning to eat dinner on the train, keep in mind that the onboard catering service is extremely limited. It is a better idea to buy food at the station or to eat beforehand.

"Fun rail adventure"

Booked as part of a birthday trip for my husband. Train was clean and comfortable, if a little rattly overnight. It was very punctual and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in a box was very nice too!
