"Mixed opinion"

Positive points:
- Train on time
- Helpful and friendly staff
- Temperature ok
- Possibility to travel only among women

Negative points:
- Down sleepers are very uncomfortable (the seat backs can't be removed and take a lot of your space)
- Cabin oddly designed, you have to block access to use the ladder, less than an electric per person, glass doors so you get light from the corridor...

"Good alternative to flying "

I am mostly exited to see sustainable alternatives to flying. Altogether everything went great. The carriage was clean, comfortable pillows and blankets were provided. The heating work well and barely any delays to report.

That being said it remains very expensive and unafordable compared to taking the plane.. And the service are still quite rudimentary. I hope the trains will be upgraded in the future (better common bathroom, more electricity sockets, slightly softer mattresses.

But altogether nice experience and very friendly crew!

"Defective trains let European Sleeper down"

Despite a very friendly staff, there where unfortunately multiple issues with the rather vintage train. No running water, failing electricity as well as an alarm sound going of on multiple occasions during the night. It was not as comfortable as an experience as expected from the website or as could be expected for the price paid. We arrived with a slight delay, although on such a long journey this can be forgiven. The concept is great, but it does not yet deliver unfortunatley…

"Retour de Prague"

Retour de Prague pour Bruxelles, le 19/12/2024. Le retour était mieux que l’aller. Départ à l’heure et très chouette compartiment « Sleepers ». Anton, notre steward, très sympa et réactif. Il n’y avait pas d’eau dans le petit cabinet de toilette, pas de tracas, on nous a donné quelques (3) bouteilles d’eau, surtout pas se brosser les dents. Voiture restaurant très bien décorée et repas corrects (on n’est pas non plus dans un resto Michelin) Mais ce qui pose quand même problème ce sont les toilettes et leurs utilisateurs… En même pas 25 minutes, deux toilettes mises hors d’usage car des voyageurs indélicats les avaient rendues inutilisables (si vous voyez ce que je veux dire… 🤬) Il faudrait quand même que les gens apprennent à respecter les autres et le personnel du train. C’est triste parfois de voyager et de découvrir que les gens sont vraiment pas propres… Sinon, encore un chouette voyage avec ES. À une prochaine. C&M de Liège (Belgique)

"In 2024 twee keer uit Antwerpen…"

In 2024 twee keer uit Antwerpen vertrokken, hoogst onaangenaam. Blijkbaar zelden op tijd, in mei 45 min, in December 77. Op de website geen info, als je geluk hebt staat er een medewerker te wachten die nog moet opstappen, maar ook geen info heeft
Wagons ongeordend en geloof ze niet, de actuele samenstelling van de trein staat Niet op de website, dat is een dead link
In mei naar Dresden regende het binnen in onze coupe, geen verwarming en enkel fleece, neem best eigen materiaal mee
In december naar Praag bleek op de heenweg de restauratiewagon te ontbreken. Het personeel blijft supervriendelijk en improviseert erop los, das tof maar na meer dan een jaar zou het best wat professioneler mogen
De echte slaapcoupes zijn een pak beter. Deze keer was er geen water dus plassen en handen wassen moest je best elders gaan doen, ook op de terug weg 45 min vertraging. In de slaapwagen werkte het omroepsysteem niet dus komt info niet door
Gedreven enthousiaste mensen die roeien met de riemen die ze hebben. Ik vrees dat een publiek dat graag dit soort avontuurtje beleeft afhaakt als de ellende blijft. Dringend professionaliseren, beginnersfouten blijven niet sympathiek noch vergeven

"Nice private room in the vintage train"

We had a nice private room with good beds and chairs in a vintage train. Also the private wash tub was good to have. The personnel on board was frendly and helpful. We enjoyed the voyage very much. Finally a good slow alternative to the stress of flying.

"Great to sleep while travelling"

Great to sleep while travelling! I had a very quiet train ride in a women only cabin from Rotterdam to Berlin. The staff was very friendly. Highly recommended.

"The best way to travel from Brussels to Dresden"

If you don't expect a modern train, you will love the European Sleeper. In fact, I was travelling with those carriages already as a young man in the late 1970ies, going from former West-Berlin to Paris...

For my regular trips Brussels-Dresden nowadays this train ist perfect. The comfort is limited to the 1970ies standard, but that is absolutely ok. Even though I am 1,93 m tall, the comfort is way higher than travelling by bus or a "normal" train.

The staff is very friendly.

My only criticism are two pints:
1) the train is not running on a daily basis
2) you have to book weeks in advance, as the train is always fully booked.

More trains and maybe slightly more modern carriages would definetely make it a 5-star-experience.

"A good night's sleep"

The main positive has to be that I got a good night's sleep, this train travels at a sedate pace and the ride quality is very good: certainly better than the Caledonian Sleeper in my native Scotland in my experience I'm sad to say. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and a free beer on arrival was a nice touch.

The cabins are a bit dated, but everything worked, and for me it's nice to be able to open a window instead of just relying on a fan.

The only downside for me was that the restaurant car wasn't running when I travelled, although I knew this when I booked so nothing wrong - but I would have enjoyed the chance to try it out. Hopefully something for a future trip
