European Sleeper

"Disorganized departure and communication regarding it"
The organization of the night train departure by European Sleeper was disappointing, with poor planning and a lack of effective communication, leading to a chaotic and stressful departure experience. This is particularly unfortunate, as I genuinely appreciate the concept of night trains and would love to support such sustainable travel options. However, for this idea to thrive, proper organization and communication are essential.

"Reasonably comfortable"
Reasonably comfortable, pleasant fellow travellers, a little late departing and arriving. Quite old carriages, one socket between three etc broken window blind. Would try it again.

"Would travel with European Sleeper again"
We travelled between Berlin and Amsterdam recently. The train arrived to Berlin with an hour delay, but managed to get to Amsterdam on time. The sleeper cabins are indeed old, but we had blankets, bedsheets, pillow and a bottle of water, and some kind fellow travelers helped us open the middle bed (it would be nice to have some info on this inside the couchette). The toilette worked in our carriage, so all was well.
It is definitely recommended to bring an eye mask with you, because people are getting on and off the train and that’s the best way to get a good night sleep.
We would gladly use this night train again!

"Imperfect but would use again"
We travelled from Berlin to Brussels and back again as a family of four renting a whole compartment. The round trip cost 900€ which I think was pretty decent - flights were much more expensive (even though airlines get huge fuel subsidies from the government) and because we travelled overnight we saved two whole days of holiday time. 4 water bottles were provided as well as sets of bedding. Toilets and wash cubicles were clean and had paper, soap etc. Staff were lovely and open to any requests, even if they couldn't always help. The children slept well but with our old creaky bodies my husband and I didn't get a great night's sleep. Next time we will go for the actual bed cabins rather than the couchettes.
My tips: if you are in the couchettes, bring a good camping mat. The bunks are hard and not very comfortable but a bit of padding helps a lot. Also bring ear plugs and an eye mask, and maybe some sort of sleep aid like melatonin. It is of course a train and not a hotel so don't expect to sleep like you would in the Holiday Inn. The breakfast is nice but pricey for what you get so bring something to eat in the morning if you are on a tight budget.
This is an amazingly valuable startup that needs our support - overnight train travel is a way we can still enjoy getting around the continent without losing precious holiday time or loading the atmosphere with carbon. It's not perfect but with more customers they can work on improving the experience. We will use the service again.

"Very good with some expected minor issues"
We booked a sleeper compartment for 3 people, and were lucky to be able to enjoy the comfortable beds. We looked for lots of info about this company before, so were already prepared about some less positive things (old trains, lack of power socket, frequent absence of sleeper wagon, frequent problems with the toilets,...). Let's say we embarked the train with lots of mental and material preparations! :-)
We had for example enough power banks, wet napkins, and even some toilet rolls! ;-)
Our journey from Antwerp to Prague was quite pleasant: the train was on time, the beds were very comfortable, the steward was amazing, the breakfast was good.
Negative issues: the only power socket in our compartment didn't work, toilets in our wagon were out of order (and other toilets were dirty).
The train is certainly not perfect and still has a long way to go, but hey...it's after all a young start-up company without huge government money! Give them some time to improve things. Hopefully they'll be able to meet customer's expectations in the near future!
