"They do not honour their quote"
They lure you in by offering a better price than other 'we buy your car' companies, then take off money for anything and everything in the hope that you'll just accept a lower offer.
I tried to sell my car to them a while ago and had a ridiculous amount taken off for 'damage' (which were the tiniest invisible scratches or stone chips).
I declined their offer as it was offensive and I didn't agree that a thousand pounds could be taken off for almost nothing, then took it upon myself to polish and T-cut the paintwork so any tiny marks were gone and the car was pristine.
I got another offer from Mannheim and got them back today and their assessor (a different guy this time, who was really nice and professional) filled out his forms test-drove the car and inputted his assessment to show the paintwork was great and the car was in superb condition.
Then the issues started... head office kept writing back and saying 'what about x, y or z' that had a scratch last time. He dutifully then sent them photos showing each panel that had no damage, and he couldn't see the supposed damage but they refused to take his word for it and I got a quote £900 less than they were offering. What a joke. They wouldn't accept the photographic evidence in front of them or the word of their assessor.
I needed the money as I had waited a week for their assessor to be free and had no choice but to accept being unfairly undercut even though their own assessor couldn't see any damage.
How is this OK??
Then I realised - they never had any intention of paying the full amount. This is how they do business, it's their ploy from the start, so don't ever expect them to behave properly or honour their quote, as that's just not their business model.
I'm furious and wish I was in a position to tell them where to stick their offer as I feel like they were never going to give me the money they quoted for the car, but this is their ploy to get money out of unsuspecting customers who are expecting to be treated fairly.

"What a complete waste of my time"
Went to them to get my Range Rover Velar valued and sold - which was in pristine condition with 10K miles on the clock and already had a recent full service (non manufacturer).
When the guy came he was very nice and done the checking etc, took his photos, then took the car for a drive. There were zero issues with the car which I expected. He then went back to his car for 20 mins and when he returned he said he had bad news and that the company didnt want to buy the car anymore due to it having a non manufacturers service! That was it - he walked away.
What a complete waste of my time. If that had been a prerequisite then they should say that prior to arranging the appointment and save us all a lot of trouble.
It leaves me thinking that the original value is there as a starting point and when they do the check, they are then looking to find faults so they can talk you down in price. When they don't find any faults (which they didn't) then they have nowhere else to go but come up with some spurious excuse to renege on the agreement and full valuation price.
Terrible.
Further edit 4/7/2023 - after receiving the standard reply as below from Manheim I am NOT going to be emailing Manheim as requested.
The reason for this is that when I phoned Manheim immediately after the aborted valuation/sale, they said the same thing as the person at my door.
I said to them "what if i get a manufacturers service?" and they replied they wouldn't accept that now either and that "we wont accept your booking if you try to value it again".
Why would I waste my time further emailing?

"Great service 👏"
Got my online valuation yesterday and rep arrived promptly this morning on time. He explained the process, looked around car, took photos and went for a drive. A really friendly guy called Alan, came back with a price a few hundred below valuation price ( that's to be expected) but still really fair for the vehicle condition. I could have sold it for more privately, but this avoided tyre kickers and haggling prices. Money was in my bank before he left my street! 5* service from Alan, would highly recommend!

"DO NOT GET LURED INTO THIS SCAM……Had an £23,180 offer from manheim for…"
Had an £23,180 offer from manheim for my wife’s 3 yr old 2 litre convertible bmw with 10,000 miles on the clock. I had a better offer for part exchange but thought lesser cash at least gave me more choice to buy cash. Manheim said the 4,500 service conducted before I bought it was a pre-delivery service. Manheim reduced the offer to £20,000. It came out of the bmw garage in March 2923. The next service is 1,600 miles. I will not deal with this company, nor Autotrader who they partner with and leverage their website to lure people who may be keen or desperate to sell. I will never deal with either company again. And I also sent an email to Manheim but as expected I got zero response!

"Terrible company"
Arranged next day to view and possibly purchase my vehicle for a small figure of £4000 it’s my spare car so happy with that nothing wrong with the car at all rep from manheim arrives absolutely sound guy but clearly a salesman caught him out on a few one liners about the car that made absolutely no sense like ‘it’s an ecoboost engine these don’t do well unless you red line through the gears’ in which car is that good?
On filling out the survey I explained car is in ‘average’ condition but cause of two stone chips and he didn’t like how the car changed gear (maybe if he changed before 6000 revs on an 11 year old car hmmm? price dropped by £1000!!! I said no so he came back after 10 minutes and offered 3199.
Sorry but it’s insulting even if you fill out the report honestly it doesn’t matter this company will rob you blind. I Drove the car on 240 mile round trip after he left and absolutely nothing wrong with it. Reps are not mechanics Atleast mine wasn’t. So steer clear.

"Never Again!"
Never Again! Offered £24k to honest info about car (three damaged alloys, otherwise excellent condition) when rep came (took 2hrs) offered only £21505 but gave NO reason for such a massive reduction. Will not be doing business again.

"Excellent service"
I sold my car with them and I have to say I found the service very professional, I was kept updated with all the steps, the booking for them to come out and give the assessment of my vehicle was prompt, Paul talked me through all the relevant information and the process, he was polite and friendly and very knowledgeable, the offer was realistic and payment was in my account before he left. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to sell their car.
