Manheim

"Start to Finish a Great Experience"
I have to say from start to finish our experience with Manheim was great. OK the offer is not what you might expect to get if we wanted to go through the hassle of selling privately but we knew that. We were paid the offer price, no haggling or trying to reduce the price. Daniel, the guy who came round, was very polite, professional and explained everything. Just felt a bit guilty he had to stay outside in the rain, due to sticking to social distancing.

"Appalling."
Appalling.
The guy arrived on time in fairness, and was polite and friendly when I was showing him to my car. I gave him the keys and he said the inspection would take around 20-25 minutes and said for me to go back into work so I wouldn't be cold? Which I thought was strange, as he could have gone through the inspection with myself. I came down to find out he had picked out minor things, a rip in my seat? It was a brand new car, so is that not down to the manufacture? He said this couldn't go down as wear and tear, and that I would need to pay for a new seat, which was £225. Admittedly I had, had a few bits of work done, from accidents which were not my fault, he started saying the paint wasn't the same (which is what) saying that there is contamination in the paint? After saying I didn't agree with the inspection report, he turned really rude and obnoxious.
My advice for anyone having a car inspection by this company is prepare to be ripped off.
Don't agree with the report and dispute it which is what I am doing. They are just out to make money and rip you off.
Awful company and even worse staff!

"The worst collection ever"
As well as the other bad reviews, my experience with Manheim has been awful.
Arranged and cancelled appointments to collect a car multiple times. Twice tried to contact me and collect on the same day. Its obviously policy from Manheim because they roll out the same lame excuse.. "oh sorry. We thought it was arranged. This happens alot nowadays"
When they did arrive to collect. A very anal man inspected the car for an hour before advising he couldn't take it as tyre was too worn. When I said "couldn't you have looked at that first and not last (therfore saving time), he said its" not policy" and left.

There should be an option to leave no stars on minus.. because they are awful! arranging to come & collect my car is atrocious, having been rescheduled 4 times! without a courtesy call to let me know but just an email to say that it is booked for the following day etc. And trying to call them, I automatically get placed on hold and was waiting for over an hour and nobody picked up to the point where i just put the phone down! Sent emails and no response! For people that are buying and potentially new clients, i would recommend reading the reviews and going elsewhere because these people are useless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Sell your car through Manheim! Don’t bother with webuyanycar..."
Sold our car with Mannheim U.K through the Autotrader instant valuation service.
Very honest, professional and paid the same money as initially quoted, £650 more than webuyanycar, who after they have drawn you in with a fair evaluation then try to knock the price down with non-existent problems.
Manheim came the very next day to collect the car and made sure the money was in our account before leaving with the keys.
In particular Stephen Shelton who came to value the car was an absolute pleasure to talk to and do business with.

"Felt scammed!"
Approached Manheim through Autocar to buy my car. Price offered online was reasonable - below the Book price but expected that for the convenience. However, after the assessor visit they re-valued to approx 60% of the book price. Felt like they give a reasonable offer to reel you in then devalue significantly on inspection. Even the assessor seemed shocked at the eventual offer.

"They exist only to rip you off and maximize their profit."
They offer your a high valuation on the phone and then, when they come to assess, they nit pick tiny details - claiming it will cost them pounds to "fix" the minor issues (which of course they won't fix before auction) and drop the price offered by 20% hoping you are desperate enough to sell thus maximising their profit. The assessors claim their hands are tied by head office so no negotiation is possible.
Don't bother dealing with them. They are out to rip you off.

"Dodgy assessors. Dispute the charges."
Assessors are fully trained by the contracting companies to charge customers as much as possible during vehicle inspection. Minor wear and tear are still charged despite it being under fair wear and tear guidelines. Do not pay a penny extra, dispute the assessment report. This is a well known scam in PCP car purchases to milk the customers for as much money as possible. Make a formal complaint to Financial Ombudsman too.

"Manheim, not good for individual buyers"
Bought at auction through a car flipper before, but now car flippers are IMHO too dodgy to contemplate (flippers now require you to give them the money, not pay the auction house directly).
First, it seems less decent fleet maintained vehicles (Lex, BMW Finance) come to auction, and more manufacturer pool / open cars (which, by my reckoning, the authorized dealers do not want). Second, the charges an individual pays the auction house (in comparison with a dealer) are MUCH higher, prohibitively so. Third, you can not inspect cars and then bid online the next day (only dealers can bid online), which is useful if there are a number of cars you are interested in and want to bid until you get one.
Finally, frustrated with not being able to safely / economically bid at auction, I used Carwow this time, and believe I got a much better deal then I could at auction. In fact, I got such a good deal, I got a new car (VW) at 27.5% less than my local VW dealership was able / prepared to go down to, which is incredible.

"Loses Logbook and Refuses to Help"
Manheim got a car from Marshalls together with all the documentation, they then SOLD the vehicle with NO Logbook.
The car was then sold on and the new owner has now not been able to tax it and Manheim are not helping. They could easily talk to Marshalls, get the logbook information, pass this on to the dealer who bought the can who can subsequently pass it on to the new owner who can then TAX their car and actually drive it!!!
BUT NO Manheim don't want to help. Can you get an email address for the CEO Michael Buxton? Of course not.
Simple solution, but Manheim refusing to help. How on earth did they even lose a logbook within a week? They are a car auction company!!!
I shall ensure that Marshalls, who are a reputable company, are fully aware of the 'cowboys' they are sending their cars to.
I can provide proof of legal ownership and evidence for everything I have stated in this review.
I've ticked the box so Manheim get a copy of this review: Let's see if they respond? I'm guessing not since they are a company who simply isn't interested in customer service. But then you'll see for yourself as it is in the public domain!
