"If I could give a lower star I would"
If I could give a lower star I would! I am fuming about their antics, I contacted them to buy my mother’s vehicle that is surplus to requirements. The online offer was £4,139 the inspector was over an hour late, after I spent over 20 minutes seeking an update, thankfully I had booked the afternoon off work. The inspector was complementary of the condition and cleanliness of the vehicle and said there were a couple of scratches but neither here or there. But oh boy when he submitted the documents and photos they tried knocking £600 off the price, I told him and his office to bugger off and stop wasting people’s time and ripping them off! I later contacted a local garage who are paying £4,100 and collecting the vehicle tomorrow. I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole and am only glad I was their and not left my Mum to deal with it as she suggested. What sharp practice and reprehensible behaviour.

"Absolute cheaters"
Manheim are there when you need to sell your car quick and for whatever reason haven’t been able to sell private or the like. This service is great but at the end of the day these people want your car for nothing so they can get a better profit, dont kid yourself about this. They are the vultures and you are the prey. same story as others, got reasonable offer and was honest with stone chips etc. Inspector arrives has a look, we see a hairline mark in the clear top coat and point this out. Test drive then the you’ve been tango’d moment - i found 3 stone chips you didn’t disclose and also this hairline mark we pointed out - that means you get £322 less. No negotiation its a take it or leave it. when you have another vehicle arriving in 4 days what do you do? Now had we not been in a rush i would have told em to foxtrot on! had Manheim instead said the hairline mark is a slick of clear top coat and the stone chips will cost us a £25 touch up pen so we will deduct a further £50 i would have been agreeable but the fact is they turn the screw deducting unrealistic amounts for cheap fixes. I know they will do what Winsfords did with another car i have - clean t cut polish and thats it then claiming the vehicle is pristine till you wash it and see the truth. i suppose the fact that this company wont even speak to people about their reviews says it all. If you consider using them play them at their own game and try to get rid of every mark so they can’t do you over. if car auctions weren’t also there to screw the private sellers i would have put my motor in one as i could have got £1500 more easy. The deal is done now though but everyone who reads this do what you have to not to be cheated by these jokers. To be fair the guy who turned up was nice enough but ultimately he is also in on the scam too and i wouldn’t be suprised if they can commission on the amount they save from each deal. Also beware we were under impression monies had transferred before the guy left with our keys and log book, nope. 10 mins after he left you get an email asking to check and confirm the bank details- you press what you think is the link to be met with a thank you for confirming? but you cant see the details you confirmed. A short time after this the money is finally in your account. might try that when i go shopping - just taking this will pay you later!

"Set you up to rip you off"
Was offered a price. The company called and we were cut off. they didn't call back again so I called them and was advised I needed to re-apply as in 24 hours it will time out. I reapplied straight away and was offered £200 less.
I called them straight away to book in and they offered me 9.30 am the next morning (Well with in the 24 hours they warned would time out).
The chap came and was really lovely but had bad news that the office was offering me half the amount this second quote guaranteed because and though he agreed I had filled in the form well, one of the items was not described well.
I explained I chose the nearest match on their pre-filled options to choose from.
This is how the company works, they offer a poor selection of options that means you will naturally fail on for incorrect description. Whichever option I chose would have been incorrect.
This company would be better to honestly say they will not accept a car that has any of a prescribed list of devaluations - and then list them. This model of selling the car I believe is un trustworthy and I am sad the person arriving at the car has to bear this news to people. I would not use this company again and advise anyone that asks my opinion to steer well clear of them.

"Amazing Service!"
I'm purchasing a new car and I wasn't happy with the price the garage offered me for my car. I went on Autotrader and received an Instant Offer from Manheim. I confirmed to a home appointment and then called the customer service team to book my appointment
The advisor on the phone was lovely and polite, explained everything to me and booked an appointment. I had to change appointment date and time and they were fine with this
Their valuer, Kevin, came to my house, explained everything he would be doing and took the keys to the car. Kevin returned and offered me very close to the price which was agreed!
I was initially a bit concerned about going with Manheim due to the negative reviews but I'm now glad I did! They gave me more money than the garage could offer and were very professional from start to finish
My only advice would be to make sure you are as honest as possible when updating the condition of the car and you'll get as close to the offer price as possible, if not the full amount!
Thank you Manheim!

"Well organised rip off"
Well organised, guy turned up on time, looked at everything, we agreed a price (see later) and money was in account a few minutes later. What’s the problem? However accurate you believe you are in describing your car they will find extra problems. Declare there are some stone chips in the front of the car because they will find some, declare a scratch as wide as a human hair on your alloys because they will find them, declare any slight imperfections in the windscreen (even in my case I had a certificate to say it was repaired) and expect £100’s of reduction for things that will not affect in the final price they will get for your car when they sell it. Don’t expect £4000 of optional extras, £750 of new tyres to compensate in any way. I expected to be ripped off and I was. Could have said no to reduction but needed to sell the car urgently.

"Wow! Just Wow!"
Wow! I have to say that I am amazed at how many bad reviews there are here. I must have been very lucky indeed. In my case I received the highest online offer by far from Manheim (via Auto Trader) for my 13 year old, low mileage Ford Focus. The offer was backed up on the phone also. The purchaser, Ian Willsher, arrived at the allotted time, was very professional and niceness itself. After carrying out all the checks and giving the vehicle a test drive, he showed me the final quote which was...to my delight, the self-same amount as the original online quote. An amount, incidentally, some £1,000 more than the best quote I had previously had from We Buy Any Car.
Ian then proceeded to set up the payment and within less than half an hour the money was in my account. He then parked the vehicle out on the road on a Friday evening and it was picked up on the Monday morning with no further interaction being necessary on our part. I should also point out that there was no transaction fee and no extra cost for transferring the money immediately. Something which We Buy Any Car cannot match. Indeed it would have cost me around £80 for the "privilege" of selling my vehicle to WBAC on the same terms, I would also have lost £1000 on the quote and I would have had to go to them rather than them coming out to me. In short there is no contest.
As I say, I may have been lucky but I know who I will be recommending to friends and family the next time they are looking for a good place to sell their car.

"dishonest and manipulative"
Guarantee a fixed price online and on the phone - but limit what you can report (eg ask about size/number of dents rather than asking for number of panels affected so as to then tell you that your own report of it was “inconsistent”); or skeptical comments about your car service history (even if it is verified & complete); or random observations about condition of engine parts; to knock down of the original “fixed” offer by £100’s... Dishonest and manipulative,

"Conmen"
I had my car valued, they offered me a shocking 40% less than what We buy any car gave me. They guy was pushy, saying I had to make a decision at the door, he didn’t give me any reason as to why he valued it so much less than what the online valuation was. Absolute conmen stay clear

"Never again"
The guy was on time, polite and friendly - unfortunately that's where the positives stop. Despite initially offering 30% of what the car was bought for just over 12 months ago we wanted to move on. It is 14 years old, low mileage with a few body marks that reflect its age but it's in good shape for its age. Despite that, the offer was reduced by a further 25% from what Auto Trader had provided which was insulting. Needless to say we said 'no'. The only reason I proceeded with Auto Trader was their reputation. No intention of going anywhere near Manheim ever again - will think twice about how much I trust Auto Trader based on this experience.
