Great pair of grassington brogues , hadn’t worn them in years and going mouldy being stuck in the box but after a good clean up and polish , tried them for a day out yesterday and found them rather comfortable , no issues

"Poor build quality"

The problem is the stitching that stick out around the heel and hurt the foot (Bronx boots) and it's not about the process of fitting the shoe to the foot (breaking), I have other good year welted boots Berwick and Crockett & Jones which are much better made.

Too bad they do not have a half star review. First, the shoes showed up and looked good. By no means are they soft. Might as well put a brick on your foot. Next, is the immediate discomfort with how hard they are. It took a day of sore feet to realize there is no insert in the foot bed. I sent pictures to the customer service people and asked for them to mail me the inserts. Should not be a huge issue. Nope, they cant. asked me to send them back. OK, they send me a DHL pickup request that has a bad waybill # on it. So no good there. Anyone want a pair of $335 Barker shoes? Ill make you a whale of a deal. Terrible experience that I have no fear sharing each and every time I see your Facebook add.

"BEWARE! Return shipping is VERY VERY expensive!"

I loved the original shoes, but had to exchange, haven't had the opportunity to wear them yet. prior to ordering I reached out to Barker to inquire about sizing and how these particular shoes/last run, does it run small?, large? or true to size?. I was told they run true to size, order your usual size. I ordered my usual size when I received them, tried them on, they were quite big. Disappointed in the fit and advise I received. Did an exchange for a smaller size at my expense. The purchasers responsible for return shipping which I knew about, that is why I wanted to know how these particular shoes fit. I was a extremely shocked when I went to ship them back for an exchange only to find out that the shipping cost was about $300.00+ US dollars. The shoes only cost $210.00. I would not recommend buying shoes from Barker if you're in the USA. I wish they would offer free returns or at least free exchanges, like all the other shoe retailers I order from that are located in Europe. They are slow to reply to emails as well. Also there was a big mix up on Barkers end when shipping out my new size exchange, caused stress and delays. Ultimately I got my shoes, although i'm a bit disappointed in the color of the replacement pair, the original pair was very Burgundy(beautiful) the exchanged pair look very brown(kind of dull). Shows inconsistency in their production. The folks I spoke to did their best to make things right and were pleasant , difficult for me to justify ordering again.

This will be my third pair of Barker shoes. They haven’t arrived yet as, a few days after ordering, I received an email to say my size was out of stock. I was given options of a different size or a refund but, as my feet are the size they are, I asked how long I would need to wait for my size. I was told a few weeks and I was happy to wait. I have been contacted since with an update, so I am happy with how I am being informed. Barker shoes are worth the wait!
