We have recently exchanged on a property and used NMB services. Although we ae first time buyers and don't have much experience of property buying to compare to, the service provided seems very mediocre at best. Although the start of the process was efficient and clear, with the portal easy to use and early activities (such as making first contact with the sellers lawyer) logged, once the process was handed to the conveyancer our experience declined. The communication with the conveyancer wasn't always clear, and we had to ask about an enquiry we had raised 3 or 4 times before we got an answer, and got the impression that the enquiry hadn't been raised when we had first asked. We also managed to get a clearer answer for our enquiry by ringing the service provider for the leasehold property we are purchasing ourselves. There is also no confirmation of receipt when sending funds throughout the process. The positive responses from people who have recently instructed NBM and have had a positive experience with the portal could be because after all your initial registration documents/ ID checks etc are sent to NBM, you receive a message from NBM offering £20 credit on your invoice if you leave a review. From speaking to friends and family about property purchasing, it seems that no one ever has a great experience with the solicitors they choose, and NBM have got us to the point of exchange so ultimately have done what was needed, but the process has maybe been more frustrating than it needed to be for a chain free property purchase.
