"DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND CASH"

9 months after entering into a long and weary complaint process with this shower I've not had any acknowledgement of the problems that their products caused. I was talked into using the Valspar range by my customer although I knew, and strongly advised my customer, that an exact match to their choice of colour could be reproduced exactly in a quality TRADE paint, they insisted that I use the Valspar range. I spent way over the costs of trade products at B&Q partly due to lack of stock bases in the smaller 2.5 ltr quantities I required and obviously partly due to their inflated prices too! I spent extra hours having to recoat the walls with their durable matt emulsion in an effort to obtain a presentable and uniform finish across the walls, to no avail. It was embarrassing to look at as a professional decorator of nearly 30 years. The durable eggshell finish for the woodwork was applied as per their directions over their undercoat but it was also a disaster resulting in an easily damaged surface with just the slightest of grazing contact after allowing for it cure for the correct timing and in warm conditions. I lost a lot of time and money due to these products and I can't under emphasise my heartfelt regrets to this day in allowing myself to be talked into using Valspar paint. I doubt I'll ever get proper acknowledgement from their customer services as they seem to develop problems with their receipt of emails. I supplied them with their requests for photos of till receipt, photos of tins used and the batch numbers etc but everything went silent after many exchanges between us and as I said, there was never any offer of renumeration or acknowledgement of the absolute mess their products caused. I challenge whoever at Customer Services to come back to me with a resolution to my complaint, you will already have the history of my issues on file. And to everyone reading this, watch this space. If I do ever get a decent reaction to my complaint, I will leave a better review, but don't hold your breath. In the meantime, go to a decent Trade paint outlet. They will be delighted to see you and you can tell them why you have decided to go there too! Although they will have heard the same story of the Valspar range a million times already.

"1* is to much"

Used this paint many times before and yes had to do 2-3 coats but always been happy with colour. When in b&q Scotswood on Monday 9th there was actually 2 lads in complaining about the valspar paint and showed us pictures, we ignored as we’ve always been happy with it.
However painting a small room which was light blue, we whitewashed it first then put on 3 coats. It has still not covered and has black tones coming through we don’t have enough paint to put another coat on it. We used premium silk paint.
It is only a small room of 3 walls as wardrobe along other so the 2.5l tin was plentiful and at £37 it’s not cheap
Rang b&q and asked to speak to paint manager, they said no manager was in and to ring valspar number on tin. I did this but they don’t work weekends so now have a room that we will have to go and buy some trusty dulux paint for as it’s a mess.
Not happy at all
We used premium silk paint colour polo pony
We went and purchased dulux paint and it got rid of valspars mess in one coat
My advice is don’t waste your time or money on valspar go to a dulux trade and you can get good quality and any colour you want. It’s about time valspar done something about this as they never get back to you after their reply below. They check your email and then never come back to you

"Had a professional decorator in to do…"

Had a professional decorator in to do hall.,landing and stairs, used Valspar silk on new fresco paintable wallpaper, gave it 2 coats, 3 weeks later it's still tacky. Got intouch with Valspar told me in should have been painted within 4 hours of each coat, then changed their minds to leave till after 4 hours, then wash the walls with white spirit (really) they are not admitting that it could be the paint, they won't pay for it to be done again. I really wished I had read the reviews first, this has cost a lot of money and now looks like it's to be redone

"Terrible paint"

Terrible paint! I got contract trade white emulsion to do a mist coat before painting. 1st coat full of unblended paint and second coat the same. It's more like sandtex as regards finish. Stay clear unless you want to repaint everything with proper paint. This stuff is junk and an absolute waste of money causing double the work plus all the resending.

"Terrible bathroom paint"

Have used Valspar elsewhere in the house but the bathroom has been a disaster. Although it’s well vented and we have a window and fan the splashes and water drops stay on the paint and show up as terrible drip stains. Really disappointed.

"Portrait of a bluestocking"

Portrait of a bluestocking
Horrendous paint. 4 coats and it is patchy, the pollyfiller shows up underneath. I painted on top of a very light silver grey that's been on 8 years and it's awful. When purchasing B&Q showed me the paint as its very light blue in tin but assured me it would go navy. 3rd coat turned from blotchy turquoise to navy but it's patchy all over. 4th coat had not improved the situation. Went to B&Q at Scotswood newcastle and was told the manager isn't available and to come back and try again. Tester pot of a lighter navy by dulux is still visible under 4 coats of this valspar.

"The colour is fantastic- a dramatic…"

The colour is fantastic- a dramatic choice for our bathroom- Chestnuts in the Park. Had it mixed as bathroom paint.
Bitterly disappointed with the quality of the product. At least three coats needed( over magnolia). The dried walls feel sticky and the least touch causes the paint to peel and reveal the magnolia underneath. I think we are going to have to do the whole thing again as I can’t cope with finding fresh marks every day.

"Valspar flat furniture paint "

Valspar flat furniture paint this is the third time I have purchased this product this time to paint some fitted wardrobe doors my daughter said looked like caravan furniture. Dead flat finish with a small fluffy roller and almost got away with one coat. Fast drying and finished in 2 days

"Read all the bad reviews first before buying"

I wish I had read all the reviews below. I thought the problems were with me! Went on patchy, had to do three coats on all the colours I used (4so far). You have to use a roller even for cutting in as the brush strokes don't settle. When I tried to remedy the dried brush strokes by sanding it all started peeling off like clingfilm ( see review below). Plus even after all those coats the slightest knock scrapes it off! I am dreading painting my last room! Will never buy it again and am sure that when I redecorate in the future I am going to have to sand (peel!) the whole lot off first

"DO NOT BUY, BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY"

This is the worst paint I've ever used. I've used more than 10 coats on my IKEA wardrobe (with suitable undercoat etc) and yet it looks so streaky. This has been an absolute waste of time and money, I'm now having to repaint not just the wardrobe but the wall with the matching colour. DO NOT BUY, take heed from all these reviews. Such a shame that they have a very nice range of colours but poor quality paint.
