"Valspar Paint is appalling & when I complained they requested I sand an 18m2 room and paint it for a 5th time - absolute joke!!"

Further Feedback: I raised a complaint with Valspar, their advice being that I sand an 18m2 room and then paint it again!! No acknowledgment of the fact that the room has taken 4 coats already, remains patchy, the paint is beyond poor quality and the colour transfers onto clothes and furniture. Stay clear of this paint, I have decorated many properties over 30 + years and have never experienced a paint that is such poor quality. Valspar is not fit for purpose, save yourself the hassle and chose a different brand.

Valspar Paint is appalling - purchased a 5L 'premium' mixed Valspar Paint in a dark green - was told it would take 2 or 3 coats - it's actually taken 4 and still not covered well - is patchy - and after being left for 2+ weeks if you brush the paint the colour transfers to clothes - towels etc - I have worked on properties for many years - have a good understanding of decorating but never have I used a paint that is this rubbish - B&Q you need to address this issue - I'm going to return this paint for a refund but suspect that will be an issue - I'll provide a further update to let you know how that goes!!!!

I haven’t used the paint yet however, I met one of the Valspar reps at the B&Q Thornbury store. I think his name was Manny (I am sorry if wasn’t but he said he covered Bradford/Leeds).

He was very knowledgeable, approachable and helped me massively with colours that will go with another colour I was looking for.

I will update my review once I’ve used the paint however, with proper prep to my wall, I’m confident I will have no issue. The colours on offer are vast and beautiful.

"Terrible paint finish"

Terrible paint finish. Got a decorator in and after 2 coats of valspar it’s still very patchy and got lots of little bubbles in it. The decorator is now having to sand the walls and get another paint for me. Extra work for him which is going to cost me more, and on top of that I’ve basically paid over 100 pounds for an undercoat. My advise would be to stay away from this paint

I have just finished putting the first coat on a small room, this paint is the worst I have ever used. As well as being like a patchwork quilt the paint is curdling and coming off the walls. This is the fourth room I have decorated and the first where I used Valspar, it's also the first I have had any problems with. Prep was the same as used in the other rooms so thats not the problem. Now I have to strip the paint off, redo the prep, return this paint, buy proper paint and do the job again, I reckon four days to get back to where I thought I was today. I Just hope B&Q refund me as I have another tin for another room and won't be using it.

Update:- The patches eventually evened out when the paint completely dried. I tried sanding the areas that curdled but was only able to remove a little. I painted over it and, although very matted, it did cover. I estimate the coverage is about 6m² per litre, much less than the 10m² Valspar state. This is really poor paint and I wouldnt use it again, thankfully this was only the spare room and I can get away with leaving it. I will not be using the other tin on the hall though, I want a good finish there and i don't want to be buying double the amount of paint I should need.

You have some work to do valspar, the consistency of your paint makes it very heavy to apply and very wasteful. It's as if you are going for a single coat finish, never a good thing. You have some lovely colours, just a terrible application vehicle.

Wish I could give 0 stars! Absolutely gutted my partner has spent all weekend painting the walls in our house to come downstairs the next morning to paint peeling off the walls! Now a whole weekend wasted as spent the whole day peeling the rest off the walls as can’t even cover it up! Spoke to B&Q and they have advised to speak to Valspar themselves who are not open today. Probably will not get any money back as states on the paint pot non- refundable. AVOID Valspar paint at all costs!

"Went to B7Q to buy what I thought would…"

Went to B7Q to buy what I thought would be a Duluk paint as its on their trade paint brochure. B&Q mixed the colour from the Dulux range using Valspar Matt Base C plus the colour (Sumptous Plum) then mixed it with their machine. Now on my third coat and its still patchy ( yes I have thoroughly stirred it) and it does not adhere well in spite of sanding down the prior emulsion.
This is the worst paint I have ever used in over 50 years. Valspar needs to look at this paint and B&Q needs to stop selling such rubbish. This is not a cheap paint either. Stick with Dulux or Crown paints

The £5 voucher paid for buying the paper samples online is only valid for one type of their paint. The staff at b&q know nothing about the voucher. So effectively I've paid £5 for free paper and £50 for the paint. The voucher is fake advertisement. I want my money back.
