"Poor coverage It took 5 coats to cover…"

Poor coverage It took 5 coats to cover . Spoke to Valspar who suggested it was the way I applied the emulsion !! Have been decorating for over 50 years never had this issue ..it was a dark colour but I was covering a blue colour so not as if covering a light colour. Poor customer service and no redress for the days and additional costs incurred. Avoid using this company. I just wished I had looked on trust pilot before purchasing .

"Keep clear of Valspar"

I’m forced to rate this paint with one star.
Valspar are ripping customer off with this paint. I bought a 2.5 litre tin of Dancing Peacock Acrylic for wood metal eggshell. I needed a hard wearing no chip paint for two doors used for storage in the hall. I was advised this will do the trick. Appart from it running down the brush my hand and on the floor it wouldn’t take at first..Three coats down the line I’ve left it to dry for four weeks. This evening (11/11) i checked the durability it’s soft, I scratched a line of paint off with my nail. I now will have to strip this off and search for another colour and brand. B&Q told me the Acrylic version has been discontinued..Ive also purchase the light version Party wrap I’m not confident it will be any better..So B&Q don’t lose money on this poor product they stick a label on the tin which includes the word ‘none refundable’..

"Unfortunately extremely hit and miss"

Unfortunately extremely hit and miss.
We moved into our house a few years ago. Decorated the essential rooms but left others until late summer / autumn this year (2024).
Used various companies paints up until now, other big names brands also diy stores own brands etc.
however first time with the valspar.
I’ve decorated quite a bit previously, very used to preparation, sugar soap washing the walls. Ensuring completely grease free, dust free and importantly making sure all completely dry.
We bought 5 litres to do 2 coats in a small room and genuinely pleased with the results. A sage green type colour (wild hillside) Matt Premium, (base B pot).
Fully prepared the walls and paint went on well and 2nd coat also went well.
That was brilliant - 2 coats, lovely result and pleased with Valspar… or so we thought.
Following the success we prepared another room. This time a brownish griege type colour. (Dried Peat). Prepped the room fully for about 1 week. Made sure all walls sugar soap washed and fully dried (as always) no greasy or contaminated areas. Lovely prepped walls (just as always).
However using a roller (as always) never pressing hard, filling the roller with good level of paint rolling up and down coating the wall as always gently rolling until the ‘sound’ shows the paint on the wall/ not on the roller. Small sections at a time.
Not spreading too thick. Or too thin.
Experienced painter in this respect.
However, in this particular room the paint kept blistering. Bubbles as if trapped water.
In 25 years only ever had this once when painting a bathroom.
But here we are talking about a standard living room. No issue with damp etc.
but closer inspection the paint in the tray (brand new tray and rollers) actually looks to contain bubbles.
Air in the paint?
Water perhaps?
Well after the first coat a light sanding down and 2nd coat.
More blistering and a further sand and a 3rd coat.
Accept the paint may have been a bit faulty. Perhaps the base tin stored in a cold area, a bad base mixture??
Well despite the bad experience, we went back and bought a 3rd colour for a bedroom.
Room emptied. Walls in excellent condition carefully with cleaning the walls to make sure absolutely no moisture left behind.
Room prepped, heating on low continuously to ensure decent conditions.
Adequate ventilation. Etc.
but alas the paint blistering issue. Sanded back and decided not to bother using this paint any more.
Something wrong with the paint!!!
Not worth reporting. A waste of money but cannot be bothered with the worthless ‘valspa guarantee’ which appears to only address colour issues.
Purchased a ‘cheap DIY shop’ own brand and painted a similar colour… paint went on perfectly. Absolutely lovely finish.
An absolute shame. One good room and two disasters.

"Paint will not cover properly. Avoid. "

I am currently on the process in painting our kitchen.
Like many others we went for valspar due to the colours they do and the fact I had used it on a feature wall with no issues.

I am trying to cover over pebble beach and have used nearly 10 litres of Valspar in an area that would have taken 2.5 litres with dulux. Now on my 5th coat of paint.
I have emailed customer service but appears to be ping pong or emails with no solution.

Not only is this costing me in buying the paint it is the additional time I have spent spent going over the same areas and also having to put up with the finish that looks poor.
I can see me having to do the whole area again and removing radiators to accommodate a poor paint product.
I will not be buying valspar for any future jobs as I have lost trust in the product.

"Absolute junk"

Area prepared and initial coat with Dulux, no issues. Decided on a different colour with Valspar so let initial coat dry and then used Valspar which has bubbled all over. Waste of tine and money and the area will now have to be sanded and prepped again. Rubbish paint.

"Avoid at all costs"

I bought 2.5 litres of the Valspar Premium Kitchen & Bathroom Interior Soft sheen Emulsion, 2.5L Chasing Butterflies. Wife liked the colour. Reasonably small bathroom and normally 2.5L would be enough for 2 coats. Another 2.5L and another 2 coats and still patchy. Not only have I paid over £84 in materials, but paid substancial more to the decorator for the cost of the extra labour to apply too. Will not be purchasing again.

"Was happy with the satin water based…but not the container!"

Was happy with the satin water based paint but had to wrestle with the paint lid which I had to remove with a screw driver - this then distorted the lid disallowing a secure tight refit. I actually ended up with a bad spillage onto my garden path trying to shake the tin not realising I hadn't been able to close it securely - very messy clean up job!

"Peinture Valspar Pro -> mauvaise qualité"

Peinture Valspar Pro censée avoir un "excellent pouvoir couvrant" mais qui est de qualité catastrophique, nous avons dû faire 4 couches et c'est toujours pas nickel. Elle ne tient pas du tout même après avoir séché plusieurs jours et le mat est tout, sauf mat. Ça brille, on dirait du satin... Je ne recommande pas, prenez de la qualité pro ailleurs
