Valspar Paint

"Excellent"
Excellent. Bought Elk Antler Premium and it has successfully covered a dark blue in just two coats. Lovely colour, excellent pigmentation and fantastic quality.

"Avoid!!!"
Purchased ‘portrait of bluestocking’ to paint our downstairs toilet, which was previously plain magnolia. Can’t believe how poor this has covered the walls. Patchy, still showing white through despite 4 coats, horrible to use, and nothing like the swatch card.
Who would have thought a very dark blue paint would struggle to cover white walls???!! Avoid!! Now having to go buy a different colour and brand to rectify. What an utter waste of money. Thanks B&Q 👍🏼

"Absolutely abysmal paint"
Absolutely abysmal paint. Used blue arch in the bedroom which is an absolutely gorgeous colour let down by the quality of this paint. It's a dark paint so I gave it fair due for needing a few coats and even applied a grey underneath. The consistency of the Matt emulsion is chalky and difficult to apply. Once you have completed half a billion coats and it's actually on the wall you then have to keep on retouching because it marks when a speck of dust even thinks about wafting near it. I should be charging valspar for the time I've wasted repainting the walls. Sick of them. Sick of paint rollers. Thanks valspar for killing my interior design enthusiasm with your chalk fest.

"We were persuaded by a Valspar salesman…"
We were persuaded by a Valspar salesman at B and Q to use this paint instead of the Dulux we had chosen! We needed to paint over some units in our utility room which had previously been painted pale blue.
Having used two undercoats, we were prepared to use this Acrylic Wood and Metal white paint as the final coat! It’s rubbish. You have to mix it for ages, it drips everywhere and hardly covers at all! This is supposed to be a satin finish, but all I can see is the undercoat underneath. I read it needs two coats! We have five cupboards to paint and a floor to ceiling cupboard! It’s going to need several tins, which I consider a complete rip off! DONT USE IT! Stick to what you know, I wish we had!

"COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY"
Really disappointed in this paint. Purchased for kitchen and it is awful. Paint is really chalky and marks so easily. We were told that you could wipe this paint but if you do wipe it the paint comes off! Absolute waste of money do not buy!
UPDATE: B&Q contacted me and told me to apply 2 more coats on top of the 3 we had already applied. We did this and the result is the same. ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.
have contacted B&Q 3 times since and no response - disgusting customer service.
DO NOT BUY THIS PAINT

"Honestly I just wish I stuck to my gut…"
Honestly I just wish I stuck to my gut and went with Dulux. This has got to be one of the worst paints I've ever used. Premium is an absolute joke. Considering the price that these retail at, I've had better joy with paint from B&M bargains. It's a white wall and had 3 coats of a dark green and yet someone who would have thought a dark green can't cover up a white wall. The words used on the front of thr tin are "LIFE KIND FORMULA WITH FANTASTIC COVERAGE, HIGH PERFORMING, SCRUBBABLE & STAIN RESISTANT, PERFECT FOR BUSY AREAS"
This paint can't even withstand a gentle brush against a t shirt without leaving a Chalk like effect. Testing the ability to wipe as told by the staff that sold me the paint, it's now a different shade of green.
I definitely won't be using this again. Please just consider it before buying as I've wasted an awful amount of time and now needs to be re painted.

"I’m a professional decorator and use…"
I’m a professional decorator and use valspar premium emulsion and find it to be a great emulsion, opacity and finish second to none, my only issue is the colour matching if only they could mix using colour coded like the paint shed. But overall I love using it, anybody using 4 coats and still not happy are obviously not doing the job properly
