"Run by call centres in India - terrible customer service."

The lecturers have been great and some of the staff have been awesome.

The entirety of their central administration is operated by call centres in India, call any of their phone lines and see, just a money saving excersize with zero regard for customer service.

I have had significant issues getting any assistance with my concerns, with not all but some rude staff putting the phone down on me, or brushing me off.

Their level of spoken english is very medicore and many have thick accents. I have no issue with this, however when you are trying to explain complex or pressing issues many are unable to string together sentences complex enough to answer your query, most of the time you are directed to 'email them'... then THEY DO NOT RESPOND. It a cycle of abysmal customer service, that im sure ULaw executive's have no issue with as they saving money out-sourcing the service.

"The administration is appalling"

The administration is appalling; errors in most internal exams and emails. The teaching is good.

"Avoid and save your money!"

I have been with ULAW for my PGDL, SQE1 and SQE2.

PGDL - material contents and teachers were OK but not great. They would swap teachers whenever they wish. You would get 0 response to emails. I once had the dean respond to my email saying they will look into my query once I enrol, when I had already been a student for half a year. Reception staff would literally lie to your face when you ask for a room to study and tell you everything is busy, but whole floors of the building would literally be vacant so you'd have to email student services to book on your behalf instead. Resource materials are all over the place with 1 task having 10+ unnecessary files so you are left with 3298572305872 documents that serve no purpose at all. Teachers give the bare minimum in terms of feedback and for most of your mocks you will not get personalised feedback!

SQE1 - the SBAQ question bank which they seem to use as their selling point is riddled with out-dated figures and dates, some questions have repeating answers and other questions are literally duplicates. A lot of the answers ended up having errors so myself and a group of students had to consistently give feedback. Some of the study materials were out-dated so they ended up giving us PDFs with corrected information saying you should ignore XYZ...

The university provides 0 summary notes unlike any other provider out there. You are forced to read tons of pages of their own books which is a total waste of time when all you want to do is get straight to the point, learn what you need to learn and move on. Teachers would also refuse to provide you with summaries with a few exceptions.

SQE2 - the most awfully organised, structured and ran course on the planet. At most you'd get 20 mocks which repeat content. Workshops are totally useless apart from the oral ones. No focus on FLK at all. They provide the bare minimum of templates and structures and would literally tell you to always call the judge "judge' regardless of scenario which is wrong. Teachers would not respond at all and would still be random people every workshop so you end up confused. The learning materials and workshop content for SQE2 are a total mess.

ULAW's strategy is to get as many firms to partner with them for extortionate amount of money and then run awfully managed courses that would stress students unnecessarily. You will get 0 revision notes and minimal prep for the SQE exams at a price of over 6k per SQE course, whereas QLTS offers 1 course for 2k with over 300 mocks and constant tutor support with mock exams that are 95% similar to the real thing. Somebody please explain the logic of ULAW?

We had feedback sessions with our group's personal tutor and all of their comments (in confidence) was that they can do nothing about the course, the materials or the teachers and would direct you to the heads of department but ask you not to mention they gave you their email.

They mix classes with firm sponsored people with non-firm sponsored people and would literally make people sit mock exams 2 days before actual exam so there is no way for you to get your feedback before the exam. A lot of my cohort students were so burnt out from the management of the course they just stopped attending classes. What's worse is that they won't even give you your MA diploma unless you pass you SQE1 which at NO POINT during the enrolment none of the staff made a comment about this condition and it was not disclosed anywhere else.

Student services will pester you about making payments but when you have a genuine query about making a payment they will not respond to you at all. Career services is non-existent, they never respond to emails.

Honestly shocking. I have been with BPP before and I used to think they were bad, but ULAW tops everything negative. Honestly, save your money and avoid like the plague, ask your law firm to not put you with ULAW and tell your law firm about your negative experience with ULAW. They will rob you and leave you with no preparation whatsoever.

"Unethical, Obstructive, and Failing Students "

For months, I have been caught in a bureaucratic maze, forced through an exhausting and ineffective informal complaints process that has led absolutely nowhere. After submitting a formal complaint in January 2025, I expected at least a basic level of engagement with the issues I raised. Instead, I have faced nothing but delays, dismissive responses, and a complete lack of accountability from the University’s administration.

One of the most egregious failures has been the University’s repeated inability to correctly set up exams, which has directly impacted my academic progression. Despite flagging these issues multiple times, I have been left in situations where I cannot sit my exams properly, forcing me into procedural defect applications that should never have been necessary in the first place. The response from the University? Silence, avoidance, and no real solution to ensure this does not keep happening.

Adding to the frustration, the University has also made sudden, unexplained policy changes regarding sitting exams during an intermission—an essential option for students who have already been negatively affected by the University’s own failures. Last year I was initially told (along with others) that I would be able to sit my exams under an intermission with permission. However, I have now been informed that this is no longer allowed. No notice, no justification, and no attempt to consider the serious impact this has had on my ability to complete my degree. Particularly when you are behind because of them.

The way the University of Law handles complaints is nothing short of deliberately obstructive. They will keep you stuck in an endless cycle of informal complaints, wasting months of your time with no real outcomes, only to then tell you to submit a formal complaint anyway. This isn’t just frustrating, it is ethically questionable and potentially unlawful under consumer protection laws. Universities have a duty to provide a service that is fit for purpose, yet at every stage, the University of Law has failed to meet even the most basic expectations.

What makes this even more disgraceful is the lack of consideration for the mental health and financial impact their failures have caused. I have used my own annual leave to sit exams that weren’t even set up properly. This is an unacceptable way to treat students who are already under pressure to succeed in a demanding academic environment.

I would strongly warn anyone considering enrolling at the University of Law to reconsider. They do not take student concerns seriously, they do not take responsibility for their repeated failures, and they do not care about the impact of their actions. Once they have your tuition fees, you are on your own.

"**Unsatisfactory Educational…"

**Unsatisfactory Educational Experience**

It is challenging to categorise ULaw as an educational institution, as it appears to be a fraudulent institution.

I couldn’t agree more with the previous review regarding payment issues. I experienced a similar situation when attempting to clarify the issue and respond to their harassing emails.

After informing them that I intended to cancel my application due to the lack of services provided and harassment from their finance team, they advised me to withdraw. Today they contacted me again contacted by phone call. Once I informed them that I am withdrawing from the course, they were only interested to prepare a payment plan for the withdrawal fee.

I attempted to withdraw as per the finance team advice, but I was threatened with liability, claiming that I would be liable to pay one-sixth of the annual course fee (£2,183.33). However, there is no course being offered. They have only provided me with login credentials for online access, which they use to “teach” the Law course. I have not attended any classes or lectures, as they were never provided any. I have applied for online course and I have only course room classes in my timetable.

Instead of receiving an education, I have been subjected to unacceptable behaviour, approaches, and threats.

"Disrespectful of applicants’ time"

I applied for a job there - attended an interview and never heard back, not even to tell me I had been unsuccessful. Really poor behaviour and made me glad I didn’t get involved with them.

"Postgraduate experience as an online student "

I went to a terrible undergrad uni and was concerned what my postgrad experience at ULaw would be like. But, ULaw have been great to me and I’ve had an enjoyable and seamless experience overall at the university over the last 11 months of my course. I’ve been class representative for my online cohort. As an online student I’ve felt supported and confident in receiving any additional guidance I may need from tutors. I’ve recently begun attending the library on campus to work in during deadline season and that has also been great for me. Overall not had any issues with any departments, and their email responses are speedy. When I potentially need extra time for any appointments this has always been accommodated. Disabilty team, finance team, library services, tutors, online learning systems, career’s portals, and more has all been a good experience for me. So far I’m very happy with my choice to study here for my Masters.

"RK - ULaw"

Thus far I have settled in well and made many new friends. Also, the workshops tend to be structured well and the drop-in sessions have been useful.

"I would strongly advise against…"

I would strongly advise against enrolling at the University of Law due to the ridiculous financial pressure and lack of professionalism they impose on students. From the start, their fee structure is unclear, and they continuously demand payments with little to no flexibility, making it extremely stressful for students to manage their finances.

Despite charging exorbitant fees, the quality of education and support is shockingly poor. The administration is completely unhelpful, and rather than assisting students, they seem more focused on extracting money at every opportunity. There is a serious lack of transparency in their policies, and communication is often dismissive or outright unprofessional.

The level of academic support is disappointing, with lecturers often unavailable and resources that do not justify the fees they charge. Instead of nurturing future legal professionals, they seem more interested in running a money-making business at students' expense.

If you are considering joining this university, think twice before falling into this financial trap. The stress and frustration caused by their poor management and exploitative fee system are simply not worth it!

"Currently studying at the Manchester…"

Currently studying at the Manchester Campus. The course structure is well planned and the lessons are invaluable. Overall the university is highly career-focused, with excellent employability support, networking opportunities, and practical workshops that prepare you for the legal world. Overall, it's a great choice if you're looking for a law-focused education with a strong career emphasis.
