"Looks Great, poor craftmanship"
The lads who fitted my new front door and frame were excellent. Within 24 hours you start to notice imperfections on the Door Slab, Glass mouldings have white spots on them where the paint has not adhesed , door is bowed inwards top and bottom, it's more draughty than our 1980s door it replaced, its hard to open and close due to Warping , we only bought a Solidor as you are warned that cheaper doors warp. My wife and daughter cant even open the door... Disappointed

"Rubbish !"
Bought a Solidor in May 2020 and by Oct/Nov it had warped causing draughts and making opening & closing bloody difficult. The key pull also doesn’t fit correctly and am still waiting for a refund or new door , either way it’s not very good .
Ps read the reply from Solidor , as of yet I’ve heard NOTHING from them .

"New Front Door"
We wanted a good quality door for DIY fit. It was delivered just under three weeks after we placed the order, exactly as promised.
Friendly driver, well packaged and in good condition.
Fitting couldn’t have been easier as it was already perfectly adjusted.
Really pleased with the operation and looks of our new door.
We have now ordered a new Back door from Solidor.

"Don't believe the clever marketing."
The composite doors from Solidor come at a premium price but that is not reflected in the quality of the product.
Doors not glazed properly in the factory so water gets in and swells the timber core. Lock mechs hammered into the slab because the machined holes for the gearboxes are too tight are the two most common production issues in my experience.
That can and does result in a shortened life span of the multi-point lock mechanism. There is never a good time for the lock mech to fail, door unlocked and you have a security issue. Door locked and it may well all be scrap.
Solidor customer service is atrocious.
They will make it difficult to complain and force you to jump through hoops in the hope that you give up and go away. That is if they will deal with you at all which is quite rare.
The warranty doesn't belong to the door owner, rather the installer (company or individual). The installer gets the warranty from their supplier which may be Solidor but more likely an intermediary company.
You get to find this out later when your slab has split by the mouldings, swollen due to water getting in or has curled and is difficult to lock, draughty or both.
I've worked in the double glazing trade for over 30 years (production, service, installation and survey) so hopefully have some idea of what I am doing by now.
Hands up, I bought into the product being quality but it quite simply isn't.
People keep asking for these doors which are marketed extremely well and it can be awkward trying to dissuade householders from what they think they want.
Hopefully these words may go some way to making people think twice and consider other options, there are plenty out there.
I have good customers (every single one is a recommend from another customer) that I have supplied and installed Solidor doors for over the last 7 years or so. Warranty issues that Solidor won't entertain means that I can no longer provide this product in good faith.
Having to fill cracked door skins with worktop jointing compound (and colour matched silicone in some cases) in an attempt to prevent water ingress because Solidor do a great impression of a slippery eel is not my idea of good customer service.
Not for me or my customers.
Just to clarify I am a sole trader and do not charge enough to entertain absorbing the cost of replacing the door somewhere down the line. People like myself work for wages only, much the same as every employed person.
Things do go wrong, sometimes more than we would like, hiding behind technicalities rather than honouring warranties is not good business practice in the long run.
We all need to make a profit but the end user has a right to expect warranties to be honoured.
From here on I will be strongly advising all of my customers to avoid Solidor composite doors.

"Door Hinges"
Lost the two end butts of Ludlow Level 2 door, got in touch with solidor who asked me to email a photo of the hinge and butt along with my address.
Having done this I had a email back the following day to say two hinges were in the post and I should receive them within 48 hours which they did.

"I researched Solidor and fell in love…"
I researched Solidor and fell in love with the Edinburgh door. With help from a lady called Grace at Solidor I chose colour and side panels which are a close match. The only negative was the lock as I chose the door, side panels and door furniture but was not advised in lock choices. Well worth the wait and Grace Mullock was always there to give me advice and chase up my order.

"We had our Solidor Door fitted last…"
We had our Solidor Door fitted last October and are extremely pleased with every aspect. We recently noticed a slight scratch on the paintwork which showed the white undercoat through. I contacted Solidor direct who were extremely helpful and have promised to send me some touch in paint. Top marks to Solidor for reacting to my query in such a positive and prompt way

"Excellent Customer Service"
I purchased two doors for my house a new build property. Both doors are of good quality construction and the locking system is excellent.
I have experienced a very small amount of paint coming away from an area on the front door which was only about 1cm in diameter but I saw it overtime I opened the door and it annoyed me as the white undercoat paint shined through. I believe that it may have been caused by one of the sub contractors. I contacted Solidor requesting some touch up paint. They answered the online request through their website the very same day! And have arranged for the paint to be sent to me. I'm very impressed with the speed in which they dealt with my enquiry

"This review is based on my experience of Solidor"
This review is based on my experience. It is my opinion following purchasing a solidor front door in 2017. My door was a grey anthracite coloured slab with no lights. Either side it was flanked by opaque full length panels. OK the positives...
Asthetically these are the best doors out there. The colour range is massive and very contempory designs.
The negatives...
1. The slab I had fitted on a South facing aspect in full sun. The door warped to an extent that I had to put my foot against it to lock it. Note. The instructions say that the door must be locked at all times with claws engaged. Not practically possible in my opinion.
2.Solidor have quite possibly the worst customer service I have come across. Firstly Do Not have your door installed by a random door fitter or joiner. Basically the Company more or less washes it's hands of the problem if the installer is not approved
3.They did to be fair deliver a replacement slab but refused to fit it so that cost me extra and I did get an approved installer this time. Of course the colour match is not the same as the frame but at least it shuts.
4.The replacement slab warped but to a lesser extent so I am living with it.
So to summarise....If you must by these doors.. Look at the environment the door is in and the size. ONLY use approved fitters on Solidor list. Don't be impressed with all the testing blurb on the website. The door has to perform its basic function first. I am not convinced they are fit for every purpose. I really don't like leaving poor feedback about UK based companies but they need to have a better understanding of customer expectations. I feel spending 2500 pounds should be enough to give you peace of mind.
