"I had two Solidor doors installed and…"

I had two Solidor doors installed and after about 1 year they started warping badly. The front door is now a struggle to pull closed. These doors look great but they don't appear to be manufactured well. For the price, I'd expect a lot more. Come on Solidor, improve your product and the warranty on them. If you are a serious manufacturer, get in touch with me and replace my doors and don't blame the installer. Will the marketing team ask me to share my experience on social media using hashtag #solidor... probably not. *Update* After a few interactions with Solidor following this review where I passed on my contact details, Solidor did not resolve the problem.

"Non existing customer service"

Non existing customer service. I've designed my doors and been waiting to hear back about quote. I've tried calling them number of times, but no one is answering. The one time someone answered I've been promised a call back, but that did not happen. Probably should go with another provider, as there are others on the market.

"Save yourself a lot of sress and pick another brand."

Another one star review. Don't buy a Solidor door. But if you must pay by credit card.

I have just finished a self managed building project part renovation part new build. I have purchased every item in the house and fitted many of them and my experience has ranged from from superb (staircase and kitchen) to appalling ( 3 solidor doors fitted by Window Options Goole.). The sheer waste of materials, energy and time caused by substandard building products such as these doors is something the government should be involving itself in instead of leaving everything to the market and completely toothless trade bodies.

Two of the doors are fitted in sunny locations and it is these doors that have issues. The first problem was water leaking through the window on my kitchen door. Window Options came into my garden while I was on holiday and gobbed some silicon between the moulding and the glass. That is now peeling away and I am expecting it to start leaking again. The window cassette should have been removed and rebuilt to resolve the leak properly.

The next issue was the garage access door became hard to close. Some months later it had to be slammed shut and about then I noticed the door skin had split and moisture was causing the timber core to swell. The split is now about 10mm and I haven't opened the door for six months because it is stuck fast in the frame. I use the electric garage door for access. I now notice that my kitchen door has developed a split and it can only be a matter of time until it too swells and jams in the frame. Quite simply gluing a thin plastic sheet to wooden core and expecting it to stay stable in our climate is a big ask.

My remedy is of course to contact my installer and ask them to replace the doors. Unfortunately they are ignoring any attempt to contact them including my final letter before court action. I suppose every industry has its bad apples, cowboys call them what you will but the glazing industry still has more than most. While the money merry go round is spinning Solidor or someone else will still supply them. An easier remedy is to make a claim from my credit card and I would urge everyone to use a credit card to pay for any glazing work.

I've been phoning local installers asking for advice. Time and again its the same story. Solidor have a major issue with their doors. It's no secret in the industry. Checkout the reviews on here and remember that if the reviewers don't play ball Solidor can ask for the review to be removed and these aren't the five star reviews!. Thirteen reviews have been removed in the past year. How do Solidor have the sheer brass to continue selling them? It's back to the old money merry go round again. I was going to post a picture of my split door but Solidor have disabled the feature. Says it all

"Been having multiple issues since we’ve…"

Been having multiple issues since we’ve had a solidor installed. Despite speaking to customer service nothing is being done as it was our builder who bought the door. I’ve had an independent glazier out who has confirmed the slab is warped and looking at the reviews I can see a lot of people have had the same issue.

"Great support"

A Solidor technician, Kevin, arrived today to carry out a report on an issue with my front door. He was helpful and efficient, advising me on a barrel lock replacement and when I was unable to order a replacement direct, he found one on his van and fitted it with no charge. Great service. The lady In the office who took my call was also very friendly and helpful. Very satisfied customer.

"update from Andy S"

You will be able to see the response from Solidor following my review in Jan 2021 and I have replied to the marketing email address with photographs of the failure (following replacement), I will continue to keep this response updated, because the last time I responded back in June 2020, Solidor just ignored any correspondence. I will continue to offer a low star rating until I have achieved a suitable outcome.

"Solidor Customer Service"

Had a Solidor front door for a few years. Really pleased with the product. Noticed the other day that the end piece of the weather bar was missing so sent an email to technical support to source a replacement part. Superb service from Grace with the correct part arriving the day after. Really pleased with both the product and the service from Solidor themselves.

"Warped doors x2 - avoid"

I’m afraid that both our our doors which 1 year old are badly warped. Leading to drafts and difficulty in locking as the upper and lower hooks being out of alignment to the frame. Note that Solidor seem to remove adverse posts hence reposting my review.

Jess, please could you post your email address and we will then provide the information needed on the 2 doors you supplied. Many thanks

"Warping door"

Lovely looking door but think twice before investing in one. Despite reading numerous accounts of the door warping I still went ahead and had the door installed in the hope all will be fine. Sadly the the door does warp. As a result I have draught issues as well as water seeping through the gap at the bottom of the door. Do consider carefully before buying!

Many thanks for your reply. I am currently working this issue through with the supplier but with C19 it's understandably taking longer.

Just for info the warp door bends in at about 6-7mm at both top and bottom. Also when closing door does not latch on in one go but rather one has to close and then push/again for the door to fully latch. Will update review when issue is resolved. Thanks.

"Very helpful, thank you ..."

We had failed to secure our Xmas wreath properly and it has scratched some of the paint off our new Solidor door 😩. Lesson learnt but we were gutted.

Although not the fault of the door I contacted Solidor to ask if they could advise on a suitable paint to touch it up.

Their response was immediate and after seeing images have agreed to send out a small pot of colour match paint.

They couldn’t have been more helpful.
Thank you 🙏
