"Lock placement and issues with locking mechanism"

I had my doubts about this door prior to purchase, but was seduced by being able to match the door colour to our new windows. It is a decision I regret.
The new style key turn, means you can open the door inside without a key. We were told this is now a legal requirement. As such, we requested to have the lock two thirds up the door, as we were worried about small hands being able to open the door via the letterbox. We were told by our window company that they did not recommend having the lock anywhere other than in the middle, as the locking mechanism may have issues with the bottom locking section of the door, if placed so far away. As a result we decided to go with the midway lock, but instead chose not to have a letterbox in the door, but paid to have one installed in the wall, to avoid the hands-through-the-letterbox concern.
Since the door was installed, we have had a few issues with the locking mechanism, mainly there is an apparent knack to opening, which after almost a year, I still haven’t mastered. I turn the key or the key turn and the mechanism often only goes half way and gets stuck. I’m a physically abled middle-aged woman, but I often have to use two hands to turn the key/key turn in order to get the door to open. It is usually worse when using the key from outside. We have had the fitters back to try and resolve the issue, but they told us it is a common problem, and the trick to it is to turn the key/key turn quickly and hard, but I guess that is easier said than done.
I would not recommend Solidoor. I regret allowing the salesman to convince us to go ahead with this product, especially given the extra work and money we spent to have a new letterbox fitted.

Absolute rubbish door. Installed by a certified supplier, who came back and tried to rectify problem by taking lock to an engineering company and grinding a new profile, didnt work.
I dread to think what would happen if we had a fire, I could not get out the door tonight to put the bins out, let alone get out in an emergency.
Will contact them - again - but dont hold out much hope.
UPDATE - Following the reviews I placed on here Solidor did eventually get in touch.
Once we spoke over the phone they sprang into action, explaining that the cylinder had been redesigned and was much improved.
They sent a new one by courier and I fitted it in seconds, and the door is transformed - we can now use it and are not locked in!!

Absolutely first class service from start to finish. The team were amazing taking us through our choices of door and extras and manufactured a superb quality door for us. The fitting was equally as superb - perfectly done, extremely clean and efficient. Really hard nowadays to find a company like this but these guys are perfect.

"Replacement cassettes"

We have a white front door with black furniture and the cassettes round the glass panels started yellowing. The installer Value Windows of Harrow wasn't interested and so I called Solidor and spoke to Grace who after a drawn out process with Value Windows sent replacement black cassettes which have now been installed. They look really nice and in keeping with the black door frame.
No one could have been more helpful than Grace and she is a credit to Solidor.

We recently had a Solidor installed by a company who sell Solidors, upon installation there was a scratch on the paint work directly at eye level next to the knocker. After previously contacting the company, I decided to contact Solidor directly for advice asking if there was a touch up colour pot or pen I could purchase in the exact colour as I didn’t want to risk purchasing from an unknown source.

Grace provided great communication and was extremely helpful in assisting with my query. I received the colour pot the following day, FOC - fantastic customer service!!

I have been a door fitter for 30 years in the last 2 years I have spent around 25. 000 ponds on solidor doors they are not worth the money I have costomers not happy at all most are complaining about the long chrome bar handle that has oxidised 1 did this within 3 weeks of installation solidor are blaming the costomer for not cleaning it every week which I find dischusting I will not fit another solidor and would advise costomers to have a composite door cheeper and better after logging this complaint solidor contacted me and sorted my issue out it was the communication between my supplier and solidor that was at fault so I revoke my review

Amazing response from from Stephen in customer service when I called to bring to their attention that the seal around the glass in the door was protruding. He made an appointment for an engineer to come to my home 6 days later.
This morning Paul, the engineer from Solidor, arrived at exactly the time he'd stated, he wore a mask, gloves, introduced himself and explained what he planned to do to rectify the issue.
Paul sanitized everything related to the door and frame, both before and after. He was very polite and friendly. He completed the task in less than an hour, no mess, perfect. Very professional. Many thanks.

*update following previous review* Solidor have been v helpful and responsive and are replacing my door. It appears I was not provided with the full findings of the report that was provided to Solidor’s customer; the approved installer which provided more thorough information. I am happy with their offer of assistance.

Had our door installed 5y ago ish. Cutting a long story short, started to get problems engaging the locks and it turned out the door has bowed. Local approved installer came out and made a report; Solidor then wanted to carry out their own inspection. Basically door has bowed in the middle by 7mm which is solidor’s technical spec ‘tolerance’. I was told they’d provide a replacement so was ‘happy’(?) but only to then have the fitter arrive with just a new locking system and the Solidor inspector had only recommended the lock be replaced. Would have been nice for someone to have told me this! Anyway, give it another warm summer, the door will no doubt bow further, we’ll have to spend nights with a door that won’t lock and then I suppose they may replace it. Let’s see. Just disappointing tbh. My sister has moved to a new home and was going to get one fitted but she’s not now!
