"Had a beautiful Spanish Oak dressed…"

Had a beautiful Spanish Oak dressed Solidor front door fitted. But within two weeks the 800mm door handle began to pitt and discolour. Our supplier contacted Solidor to supply a replacement. There our problems started.
Solidor refused to accept the word of our supplier that there is a manufacturing fault. Solidor have totally ignored constant requests and photographs from our supplier to rectify the situation.
Solidor have now said that when a company representative is in the area he will inspect the door handle.
What appalling customer service, I am the customer who has paid for faulty goods who has to wait for the manufacturer to argue the fact with the supplier.
Where are the promises Solidor proudly display on their web site to provide customer satisfaction.Smacks of big company feeling it can totally ignor any complaints because it feels it owns the replacement door market.

"Worth every penny!!"

It is difficult to gauge the quality of doors simply from an online site.
We were luck enough to see Solidor doors at first hand in a friends house where five external doors had been fitted. All in different parts of their house and different functions. We were very impressed and used Timber Composite as our supplier. Their fitters were first class and the final result is excellent.

"Door that won’t lock a lot of the time"

Door that won’t lock a lot of the time. The lock doesn’t engage as the door came warped. The installer himself said it was very poor and showed a 7mm warp in the middle. Solidoor sent a man who refused to speak to me (company policy) who said it was on the edge of tolerance. When it’s wet it won’t lock and when it’s hot it won’t lock. Other times, you have to put your weight against the door to lock or pull on the handle. I stupidly mentioned my arm can be weak at times-oh how they’ve jumped on that and blame me. It’s disgusting. Neither my son or husband can operate it at times either! . Company I bought it from ( timber door store) have finally said they will change it (after multiple visits) but won’t guarantee the operation of it!!!!! Seriously??!!! I cannot accept that. I have in my possession an email stating that the handle I have-long bar with lock-won’t work well with that door and that I should consider changing it for an old fashioned one on an uber contemporary white rendered house!!! Ridiculous! They happily sold it to me-never mentioned that it wouldn’t work and it’s still a very popular option on the solidoor website! How odd! A very angry and disappointed customer of 5 doors in total!!

"Excellent Customer Service"

Very impressed with Customer Service, Needed touch-up paint to match our front door to cover a tarnished aluminium rain drip guard fitted by local fitters....Grace Mullock dealt with request very efficiently and promptly, the paint being delivered within 48 hours with no charge even though I was quite prepared to pay...Many thanks to all.

"Customer service"

I was very impressed with the customer service I received from Grace. When I emailed a request for touch up paint for my door, she replied quickly, followed by a message to say this would be sent to me. It arrived within a couple of days.

"Very Happy"

I've had a chartwell green Solidor flint cottage door for a while and noticed that an end cap on the drip bar was missing. I enquired about a replacement and Grace at Solidor sent out a replacement the very next day, along with a couple of extras. Super service and my door looks as good as new.

Very Happy!

"Cracks in doors and Solidor won't talk to us!!"

We are 7 years into our Solidor experience and are not impressed. Initially we were really pleased with our front door - it looked great and was a solid door. However several cracks appeared within the first year. We contacted our installer (who is great) and he replaced the door. We are now onto our third door in 7 years and that now has 6 cracks. We are in conversations with Solidor via our installer, as Solidor have told us that they don't communicate directly with customers (? interesting business model). They have suggested another replacement, a fourth door, but where is the guarantee that that door wouldn't crack? We are totally fed up and want a refund. We spent a 4 figure sum on a front door that looks tatty and is obviously not of reasonable quality, not fit for purpose and has not lasted a reasonable length of time. Don't buy Solidor

Update - Solidor contacted us in August requesting order numbers. We provided the information they required and have heard nothing since. They have promised updates and nothing. It appears their customer service is as good as their doors . . . .

"Guarantee is worthless. Get an insurance backed one from your fitter or go elsewhere"

Make sure your fitter offers an insurance-backed guarantee.

Solidor have refused to replace a simple door knocker, as they will only honour their “10-year warranty” to the trader who buys the door, not the homeowner who has it installed. If your fitter closes down, retires or whatever, the warranty is considered void.

"Not impressed whatsoever with the finish…"

Not impressed whatsoever with the finish of our brand new door! The door has several areas that have been touched up with paint that does not even match! The area's in question are the frame around the glass cassette and are in excess of over 20 inches. One area about 4 inches does not even have any paint where the frame joins and there is a white line which is possibly adhesive. The door finish is anthracite (dark grey) and all these faults stick out like a sore thumb once the oiley substance (probably WD40) the fitters put on it is wiped off. Solidor say their finish is not paint but through colour not just a simple gel colour or stain on the surface, if that is the case then my brand new door has clearly been damaged prior to installation for it to be painted. I would not expect such poor finish on a £500 door let alone one that cost more than 3 x as much! I do not see why I should be expected to accept something of such poor quality that cost so much money. I'm feeling like I wish I never choose Solidor, next time I will know better! My advice to anyone considering buying a Solidor is dont unless you are prepared to accept a poorly finished product. Solidor state that their doors have unrivaled beauty and they are the UK's best composite doors, this is certainly not the case looking at my door! To say I'm bitterly disappointed is an understatement.

Despite the poor finish the door has been fitted well and it feels extremely solid unlike our old UVPVC door but the lack of a decent finish ruins what is possibly a very good product.

"I’ve had a Solidor on 2 properties and…"

I’ve had a Solidor on 2 properties and they’re just the best! Security is exceptional, all
Locks run off of 1 key. They can’t be kicked in
They do not warp or move
Build quality is very good
Highly recommended
