"Persistent problems with the lock that doesn't open and Solidor extremely unhelpfull"

We had a new Solidor for 3 years now and have found ourselfes several times locked out of the house because the locking mechanism is too stiff and the door just won't open. The company that installed it has been here 4 times already to try and "adjust" the door, but it keeps being extremely difficult to open, especially at moments of big temperature changes. My husband and me have managed to open the door after a lot of carefull trying, pulling and lifting, but my elderly in-laws have been several times simply locked out.
We now don't trust the fitting company that they can solve this problem (they have tried enought times and treat us like stupid every time we call, but the problem persists), so I have called Solidor directly who don't seem to accept any responsibility unless this has been escalated by the fitting company.
Disappointing. If you are a week, vulnerable or elderly person I do certainly not recommend this door, as you might risk to get locked out of your house with your key in your hand way to many times.

Had a solidor door fitted paid over £1600 cash for it when the fitter was leaving he showed us how to use the locking system but said when opening the door you have to pull on the stainless steel bar to turn the key surely this is never right

Door fine but paid a lot for a lot of money for a long stainless steel handle which is rusting like crazy. Looks a mess and has put me right off Solidor products.

I have been buying Solidor doors from my local supplier for about 5+ years. I believe that Solidor are probably 1 of the best on the market But what I have found on the rare ocassion there is a problem. they basically fob you off and are not interested i have had 4 Ludlows that leak through the cassettes,
marks in unit that i had to prove with a photo and replace myself. I had a warped Milano, that solidor replaced eventually the bare shell after photos and numerous emails, But left me to swap over glass handle and locks etc. (taking 4 hours)Numerous hinges scratching and needing replacing. I really do believe a Solidor service engineer/s should be doing these remedials. In the mean time I will be looking for a new supplier unless after sales improve

The Solidor installed at my partner's parent's house is stunning! They were spoilt for choice (colours and styles) and asked us for our opinion as they couldn't make up their mind (they chose the Cobalt blue in the end).

The process from initial contact to finish was smooth, simple and very professional. The door looks great, external sounds have been minimised and they now feel secure in their own home - something you can't actually put a price on.

Excellent! Responded very well and very quickly to a request for some touch-up paint for very slight damage caused by my wife attaching a decorative wreath to the beading around one of the glass panels over the Xmas period. Needless to say, she won’t be attaching one next Xmas!
