"Solidor sorted supplier's nonsense"

I had a Solidoor installed for my property by Sedgefield Windows. The door itself is of good quality and I am fairly satisfied.
The problems I have had are with the door numbers. The first set that was installed became quickly tarnished and the screws rusted (marking the door with orange rusty streaks). This was within months of being installed. I contacted Sedgefield Windows. It took them five months to replace them. When they finally replaced them they have done so with numbers that are a different font and slightly different colour. I'm not happy with it and find it pretty embarrassing, but I don't know if I can be bothered to have to argue with them about something so basic, so elementary that they can't seem to get right.
One of the screws has again started to rust after only a few weeks. I wouldn't recommend them.

Edited to add: it turned out the supplier has lied to us and forgotten to order the numbers, they bought cheap replacements that rusted. Sedgefield Windows lied for several months and only admitted it later when Solidor got involved. The door was fantastic but the service from their supplier left a lot to be desired.

"So some honest feedback about Solidor"

So some honest feedback about Solidor, firstly I am a joiner and have a small building firm so yes I do know what I'm talking about for all those doubters on here.

We got our 1st Solidor approximately 5 years ago (exact dates aren't that important as you'll see) we choose them as they came highly recommended by my suppliers who I've worked with for 15 years. We choose a black 6 panel full size slab which looks great on our period house and is really big, to allow for the size I altered the brick opening making it wider and higher.
The door looked great for about a year when the lock side started swell and also warp badly, spoke to the suppliers no worries they say we'll replace. 2nd door fitted See that's great service for you, ah but wait.

About 6 month's later and the summer is apon us (yes we live in the Sahara like east Yorkshire) and suddenly the doors warps by about 20mm and gained a big bubble about 150mm round. The door was now unusable as it would only lock or unlock with extreme pressure against it on the inside (I'm a rugby property forward so I could manage, my though is rather diminutive and couldn't). So the suppliers who continue to offer there fullest support speak to the Solidor rep who said it must be the frame that's fitted wrong, or it's too hot for he door (remember it's Yorkshire).
By now I was rather cheeses off but agreed to the panel being replaced 3rd door fitted.

Again the door lasted for a period of time and again bubbled and warped in the extreme weather we get in Yorkshire !! This time it happened very suddenly and my elderly mum arrived with my kids after to find she couldn't open the door "Panic" 1 boy was demanding sweets the other he was desperate for the loo (yes that's at the other side of the door) so a rather exasperated grandma goes knocking on doors for an emergency loo stop and the calls me who happens to be 20miles away. So this is great !!!

Suppliers who again were just amazing provide a whole new frame and door and we all cross our fingers that the weather will be middling with no hot sun !! 4th door fitted.

So we have some hot weather and yes the door throws up a huge bubble as the outer skin delaminates again !!! Speak to technical again, seems it's a factory problem and they promise to "white glove" a panel through the factory
and then fit it.

I now have a very distressed wife and mother who see no end insight with this door. The door is fitted by there head of technical (very nice guy but don't know his name) who was absolutely certain we would have no further problems. 5th door fitted

Well the door lasted a few months and then swelled on the lock side by about10mm yes I go a bit wild !! the wife threatens divorce and the kids well the find it all very amusing !!

So the suppliers go back to Solidor and demand some kind of good will gesture, great says I !! . Well after several weeks and promises of good news Solidor make a grand gesture, they'll give us a total refund and another door (yes number 6) and then we are waved goodbye. Well it was rather a let down refunds are great but clearly we had a high chance of further problems, and you guessed it we have so 3 months down the line and we've had some pesky sunshine and the door is nicely warped and requires a shoulder charge to latch and lock.

Can only say thanks to Solidor for there quality service, product support and caring attitude all of which are missing !!!

"Worth every penny"

The quality of the locking system and door furniture are really a cut above and the colour selection both contemporary and classic. I chose not to have a handle on the outside/inside of the door and it is wonderful to have the thumbturn Ultion locks tor peace of mind and much easier than locking with a key every time you go out of the door. A great job, great quality and reasonably priced.

"Great Service"

Small scratch on new door (of my making).

The worth of a company is how they react when things go wrong, In this case the response was excellent and a small touch up pen is winging its way to us FOC!!!

"Buyer Beware"

Bought two doors, both leaked around the glass unit straight from the factory, installers then sealed these leaks, but sealed the water in ! to cut a long story short Solidor came out to sort the problem, but now one is letting in water again, I emailed Lucy and was told it was being looked into, but now I am being ignored. These doors would seem to be well over priced, and not fit for purpose, maybe a job for Trading Standards.

"Poor after service!!"

Having had a beautiful looking door fitted in Oct 2017, I’m still awaiting a resolve on the issues! Almost 7 months later! Please be mindful of the after sales service when deciding whether to spend so much with Solidor as the customer service is not anything to shout about.
I’ve had exactly the same issues as the previous review with a leaking threshold on a side panel! The water was leaking into my home! Having had a engineer out last month finally he’s resolved one issue but I’ve found a strip of silicone added to the panel?!!
I also am waiting 5 weeks after this visit on a response from a report that this engineer complied on orange rust marks that have appeared on the cassettes around the beading around the glass! Solidor have not come back to me proactively once! Having called the installers last week they appear to be waiting on a call from the Solidor manager? How long does it take? The issue is a manufacturing issue and I’m so frustrated at the lack of response! Last week I was offered a white paint pen by the installers to touch up the rusty marks! The door isn’t even white! Such a shame... the door looks stunning but please save yourself the money and grief!

"£2000 door which leaks and holds water in the threshold."

Recently I have had fitted a £2000 front door with side panel. The issue I have is that rain water collects in the threshold under the door, so much so that it overflows. The design does incorporate drainage holes to allow any water to drain away but these are not working. I sent the company a technical message on their website to try and rectify the issue, but I have had no reply.
The door had also dropped on the hinges and no longer fitted square, but I was amazed to find the hinges were not even adjustable! Forcing you to remove the screws and make new holes which seems a crazy idea on a very expensive door.
All in all there are some design issues with the door, two of which I have highlighted above.
Not 100% the fault on the company but the strip between the door and the glass side panel was damaged, in that the coloured coating had been removed exposing the white plastic which looks very unsightly. I also asked the company if they sold a touch up paint pen to hide the damage and again no reply. The installation of the door itself was poor which did not help.
There appears to be zero customer service and aftercare from this company which is very disappointing.

"Solidor BAD NEWS"

We have had a Solidor for 5 years in that time it has been changed 7 times, as our house is south facing the door bows. Although when we brought the door we had a ten year manufactures guarantee which stopped after five years I think due to complaints. The double glazing company who supplied the door, stopped trading so now we have no guarantee!!!! SO BUYERS BEWARE DO NOT BUY THIS DOOR IF YOU ARE SOUTH FACING ITS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
