Terrible Experience – Avoid EasyRent Bulgaria!
I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience with EasyRent Bulgaria. We rented a car and paid a £500 deposit, which they never returned. Their reason? A “flat tire” upon return of the vehicle. The tire in question was only deflated in morning before the return of the vehicle. We have stopped on our way to pump it yet they insisted it was “damaged” and claimed it caused damage to the wheel itself.
Without informing us or asking for our input, they decided to keep the entire deposit. After chasing them for answers, we were told—over the phone—that they had to replace two tires because “they can’t replace just one,” and that the wheel was also damaged.
When I asked for proper documentation to back up these claims, they refused to provide any. No evidence, no clear breakdown of the supposed work done—just a vague, useless invoice that said nothing except “damage”.
It honestly feels like they can make up whatever story they want in order to keep the deposit. Extremely unprofessional and unfair. I would strongly advise anyone considering this company to stay away. If you do use them, be prepared to lose your deposit with no explanation or accountability.

All the bad reviews on here are completely true do your self a big favour and rent through a reputable company one of the bigger ones I would recommend whilst in Sofia as easy rent are definitely nothing more than con artists and crooks, my experience after arriving at the booth was to be given a hard sell for extra insurance which I didn’t take as it was expensive and I had already sorted with Economy car rentals by a loud rude guy behind the counter, the deposit that was taken was meant to be 500lev but when I checked later was 5000lev which they are supposed to return within 20 - 30 days which they did not luckily I paid with a credit card and as soon as the 30th day past I contacted Mastercard fraud department which put it in dispute and within 2 days it was back in my account.
I can not believe how a company like this allowed to operate in a airport and be allowed to advertise on booking.com and other platforms, do yourself a favour and avoid it will save you a lot of stress and hassle.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I don't know why Trustpilot is allowing Easy Rent Bulgaria a 3.0 star status when 20% have complained that they were ripped off. We too were totally stitched up by this company to the tune of £1500. Shame on this company, and Sofia Airport for allowing them to operate on their premises, and to tripadvisor, Google and Trustpilot - who are all allowing this company to fake reviews in order to dilute the large number of appalling reviews. In fact, not just appalling reviews, but downright criminal behaviour.

"Deposit returned after 2 months."
Took too much deposit. After rental, just didn't answer, no deposit even after one month.
The car was also in poor condition and nearly broken.
Update: After asking the broker (check24), they (easy rent) called me, told me that i have a speed limit fine. And that they will return 50 euro less. But after a week they returned the deposit!

Avoid at all costs – Dishonest, unfriendly and unprofessional! Worst rental experience ever (Sofia Airport)
In August 2024, I booked a 7-day rental car via Booking.com with Easy Rent a Car at Sofia Airport – the advertised price was around €120. What followed was a series of deceptive practices, poor service and months of frustration. I only received my deposit after more than 6 months – and only with the help of a lawyer.
Here’s the full timeline:
• First red flag at pickup:
Although nothing was mentioned in my Booking.com confirmation, I was suddenly told at the counter that no insurance was included. I was forced to pay an additional €240 on the spot – otherwise, I would not be given the car.
I was ready to leave Sofia, my trip was planned, and I had no realistic alternative – I felt pressured and misled.
It’s extremely disappointing that a global platform like Booking.com supports such business practices by partnering with companies like this. As a customer, you trust Booking.com to screen its partners – in this case, that trust was completely misplaced.
• On top of that: extremely rude service at the counter
The staff were cold, dismissive, and unhelpful. They made no effort to assist or explain anything clearly. When I asked questions, I was met with arrogance and impatience. Absolutely no sense of customer service.
• Then came the double deposit charge
My credit card was charged €766.95 twice. One of the charges I was able to reverse through my bank. But the second one – the actual deposit – was never refunded.
• Months of silence
Despite sending multiple emails, including full documentation, booking references, and screenshots, I received either no response or meaningless auto-replies. No accountability, no resolution.
• I even had a Bulgarian contact send a formal complaint in English and Bulgarian – still no result.
They completely ignored that message too.
• Only after hiring a Bulgarian lawyer did they finally respond
Even then, they continued to delay the refund and avoided clear communication. It took over 6 months for me to finally get my money back – and that was only after legal pressure.
Conclusion:
My experience with Easy Rent a Car was deeply unprofessional and borderline fraudulent.
– Hidden charges added at pickup
– Double-charged deposit
– No communication or accountability
– Refund only processed after legal action
– Rude and disrespectful staff
– Booking.com should reconsider working with such companies
You risk losing your money, your time, and your patience. This is not a trustworthy business.

I rent a car i February 2025. I backed the car but didn’t get deposit money back . No one unswerving to my mails . I read the feedback and understood that i am not alone there, many people didn’t get their deposit money back .

I have been using them for over a year now. At first I had doubts about them due to other reviews saying about taking a long time to give deposits back. I initially had this issue with them. Until I was told I could pay for deposit by cash. I did this a week ago and got my deposit back the day I returned the car. The cars can have a few bumps in them but my last 2 cars were dent free. They are slowly updating their fleet and the new cars they have have lots of power and are clean and tidy inside. As far as I am concerned they are a great service and cheaper than regular hire companies like Hertz/Enterprise etc.

Typical scum,elite Bulgarian scammers .I returned the car on the 24 of feb last month (CB5812TB) and still no deposit yet although they told me we gonna release the deposit,ive send them and email obviously no response,send them a text on FB they blocked me which is funny cause they forgot that im half Bulgarian and ill be back .
