"Cannot recommend any longer, they completely disappeared."

We have been with Columbus for a few years and felt they were fine and every year we happily renewed. However, this year we have no travel plans so when the renewal warning came through, we wanted to cancel. Immediately tried to call them but they do not take any calls at the moment. Followed instructions to cancel via email, have been trying to cancel and sending emails for a month now and no reaction whatsoever and I cannot reach them. The payment was taken a month ago, way before the renewal was due and it seems we won't be able to get our money back and will incur interest. What's going on with the company?

"Hidden changes to renewal policy?"

I have been with Columbus direct for a few years, annual family travel insurance. This year for the first time they did not bother to send me a renewal reminder with a new quote, they simply renewed my policy without even sending me the paperwork with all info. I would not know if i did not check my bank statement. I am very disappointed and will be cancelling their services, I am just glad i found out before the end of 14 days cancellation period. Do they expect people to miss that period? If so, they are on the right track but they are also on a very good track to lose people's trust. If i cannot trust them at this stage, then i definitely do not want my family to be insured with them.

"Beware of these thieves!"

After receiving an email earlier this month that our annual travel insurance was up for renewal, we immediately tried to contact Columbus direct to cancel. Upon calling the main number we were advised that due to COVID-19 that no calls were being taken and an email should be sent instead. We sent the email requesting cancellation, but Surprisingly the next day the company took a payment for the next 12 months. Not only was this payment unauthorised, but it was actually taken 2 weeks before the existing policy expired!
All subsequent attempts to contact them and get a refund have been completely ignored. We are now going through the disputes process with our credit card provider and can only hope this will get resolved this way. Beware of this company. Judging by the other reviews they have been receiving of late, they are looking like fraudsters and from my point of view thieves too!

"They do not pay valid and straightforward claims"

Used them for many years and at the end of March made a straightforward claim for the first time. Heard nothing from them since then. The do not respond to emails at all. When I call them they promise to make a decision on the claim soon and never do. Terrible company, they give insurance a bad name.

"We have a claim in for a canceled…"

We have a claim in for a canceled holiday-nothing to do with cover back in February, we have been asked ton submit years worth of medical records-done etc and still haven t been paid out. No contact no answer to calls, standard e mail-we are being blanked. This company is a disgrace I should avoid at all costs.

"Tutto bene finchè non inoltri richiesta…"

Tutto bene finchè non inoltri richiesta di sinistro.
Dal 10 marzo abbiamo inoltrato sinistro per malattia e impossibilità di partire con tanto di certificato medico ma ad oggi non siamo ancora arrivati alla fine di una lunga storia. Premetto che sono nel campo assicurativo. Sono Sconcertata dalla situazione visto che le richieste fatte via mail (due settimane per poi rispondere e richiederne altre già inviate precedentemente) sono sempre le medesime (addebiti delle carte di credito dove vi sono stati i pagamenti dei biglietti (certo, chi mi la pagati?), movimento della compagnia di avvenuto rimborso delle tasse aeroportuali che comunque non rientrano nell'indennizzo etc.
Mi sento di sconsigliare questa compagnia assicurativa se poi nel momento del bisogno ha questi trattamenti verso la clientela.

"Took our travel insurance before…"

Took our travel insurance before Covid-19 - holiday cancelled so have rebooked for October. Tried in vain to get in tough via telephone and email (twice) and not had any replies to either. All I want is to rearrange dates of insurance. Just a quick reply email to say they have received my two emails and they are working on it would have been enough.

Had annual travel insurance , find out they don’t cover package holiday 😳
Made a complaint was investigated by AXA ( who’s there under writers anyway ) they came back with they don’t cover package holidays .
So next stop ombudsman and the CMA .

"WARNING!!"

WARNING!!! I purchased my insurance before the pandemic. I checked with Columbus online Q&A in Feb that we would be covered for covid 19. We were due to travel in June but our flight has been cancelled and the airline is refusing to provide refunds. I have just gone on the website and apparently they have taken it on them selfs to rewrite all existing policy to not include claims in relation to covid 19 as of March!! We had a contract they cant just decided now that it doesnt suit them!! Surely this is illegal
