"A greedy and immoral company"

Avoid this company, they have withheld a lot of money from people unable to travel to their holiday lets due to Corona virus regulations. They are unhelpful and threatening to anyone who tries to reclaim their payments. They have also had a sudden flood of 5 star reviews. At least one of them came from an employee, enough said.

"Shame on you all you negative reviewers."

I am absolutely stunned at these negative reviews. Myself and my family have used LHH for years. Without question we have received great service, personal, friendly, informative, the list goes on.

Yes we too were in the situation where we had a holiday booked and we lost our money, but come on that is what holiday insurance is for! Yes it has taken me a long time to get the money back from our insurance company but understandably they are dealing with an unprecedented amount of claims right now.

I appreciate many people are furious, out of pocket and want someone to have a pop at, but this is not LHH's fault. They didn't cause a global pandemic. And look at it this way, they are really just a go between the holiday cottage and me as a customer. I'm pretty sure that all the different cottage owners will have varying responses to the situation, the one we had booked, had stated that they just didn't want to accept guests at all this year, so we couldn't rebook at a later date. This is not LHH's fault and so I'm not shouting at the girls in the office because of this.

I am actually appauled at some of the language and the nastiness I am seeing on these reviews. You all need to take a long hard look at yourselves. From a business point of view (and yes I am a business man) if they gave absolutely everyone their money back, or said to everyone that's ok we'll rebook you into the same dates next year - how is that even possible? There would be no company left, they would have lost a whole summer of revenue and then would lose next summers revenue as well, it's just not logical.

As my wife said to me the other day, if you drove your car without insurance you would be in the wrong wouldn't you. Why is booking an expensive holiday any different? Granted the insurance companies are dragging their heels and finding ways out of paying up, but that's the nature of insurance isn't it?

All you keyboard warriors out there think about the damage you are doing to a relatively small business here and shame on you all!

We will be going back to LHH as soon as we can, family logistics of getting us all together is something we need to deal with before rebooking, but rebooking we will be and hopefully for many years to come as long as LHH doesn't fold due to some people who expect the world to owe them something.

I just hope that people who value LHH and the staff in the office take the time to write reviews as well, sadly it's the ones who have wound themselves up into a ball of anger that tend to be first to go online and rant at people without thinking of the consequences. These are real people you are hurling abuse at here, with families just like you and me, I don't know them personally but I do know a few in the office have young children and I can only imagine lock down home schooling children and reading the awful things online about them will have had a damaging effect.

"A company that doesn't value its customers"

We are third time customers of LHH and would have booked with them for two holidays a year for the foreseeable future but not now. We had a holiday home booked in South Uist (same one as last year) which obviously we couldn't travel to due to Covid restrictions and, like many of the other reviewers here, LHH refused to refund us our deposit of £382. We would have been able to reschedule for 2021 but they wanted us to pay the whole balance now rather than 12 weeks in advance as per their Ts and Cs.
We were lucky because we managed to recoup most of our deposit back through our holiday insurance but we were still outstanding £148 as our excess. Given that LHH had retained some of our monies, I thought that they would refund that as a goodwill gesture but they would only pay us £75. This was despite the fact that they cc-ed their lawyer in some correspondence and he probably charged more than £75 to read the email trail!
It's at times like this that you really find out the true essence and values of a business. LHH's focus on retaining their customers' payments means that they had foregone years of future bookings from what would have been a loyal customer base. We will never use them again and have reported them to the CMA.

"Another person that will NEVER use LHH…"

Another person that will NEVER use LHH ever again. Similar to other stories here, I booked a large home for a family holiday that couldn’t take place due to the COVID 19 pandemic. After many emails from me they just reply with the same line “not our fault so you won’t get a refund, contact your travel insurer”. They have my money and have not delivered the goods, that’s theft, pure and simple. I’ve reported them to the CMA, and will use the small claims court if needed. Don’t give them you money, they are thieves.

"Outstanding Company - Letting Quality Properties"

I have used LHH for a good number of years now and have travelled to many parts of Scotland including the remote islands to stay in their properties. Following my first stay in one of their houses they are my automatic first stop for booking quality, self-catering accommodation in Scotland. Every house I have stayed in has been exemplary, the booking system is excellent and the attention to detail at every juncture has been outstanding. The company always goes the extra mile to ensure that customers are put first - this includes excellent first-hand knowledge of all their properties, where they are located, how best to get there and the facilities in the surrounding area. I can honestly say I have found them second to none. I had an LHH house booked on the Outer Hebrides for this year that owing to coronavirus we had to cancel. LHH was excellent at dealing with the current situation and we have amended our booking to next year without any difficulty whatsoever. On the back of that I have just booked another property with LHH elsewhere for later this year as well. I have fairly high standards of expectation (that includes the property itself, standards within the property, ease of booking and service) and have a disdain for anything that reflects badly on the Scottish tourism industry. I will not hesitate to give bad reviews to companies that in my opinion fall short of my expectations or reflect badly on my country. However, I have no hesitation in recommending LHH - I have been using them for years. The fact that I book with them year after year speaks for itself. Recommended unreservedly.

"Don’t use this company …"

I paid in full in February for a holiday booking late May. We were emailed a policy statement on lockdown day saying that our booking could no longer proceed and that they understood insurance companies were dealing with this issue and that we should contact our insurance company directly . They eventually offered us a week in 2021 but NO refund at all. I am still trying to get the money back . Would not book with these people again . Terrible customer service .

"My first choice is always LHH"

For holiday cottages in Scotland, my first stop would always be LHH. A well run business with pleasant, helpful and professional staff. First class holiday accommodation in beautiful locations (and we have stayed in a few!). Their cottages and larger houses are exactly as described in their stunning brochure and we have never been disappointed.

"DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY"

DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY. LHH are the worst company I have ever come across. I would give them minus stars if I could. We booked a house sleeping 20 last year. Our group consist of 7 different families but due to restrictions no more than 2 families can now stay together overnight. LHH state it’s not their problem and advise we ‘reconfigure’ our group and only two families travel. They refused to engage in April when we first asked to move the holiday to next year. They refuse to engage in a reasonable resolution concerning the return on our £1,200 deposit. They failed to inform us in a timely manner the owner of our intended holiday home is actually a co director of LHH. They repeatedly use their Terms and Conditions as their safety blanket, refusing to acknowledge they are unable to supply the house as we booked it. How many minutes before LHH have this honest review removed too?? CMA aware, trading standards, BBC Watchdog Scotland.....

"Disgusted by Treatment"

Absolutely disgraceful treatment from this company, do not use. Funny how genuine bad reviews have all been removed. Hardly any reviews in the past but they now have several 5 star reviews, this speaks volumes. We along with several other people have reported this company to CMA. Do not give them your custom or money. I am genuinely sorry for the people who let theIr properties through this company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
