This company has completely departed from the Competition and Market Authority's position on refunds during the Covid period. We eventually received a refund but that was down to the property owner cancelling.
In the run up to the cancellation, the webpage guidance on Covid conditions basically told customers that LHH had no responsibility to refund customers. This compares very unfavourably to their competitors who have reacted positively to the CMA ruling.

"Horrendous Company"
Absolutely shocking company. First time I Used LHH and they were quick to take a large deposit back in 2019. I didn’t mind as the holiday was surprise for my father’s 80th. Unfortunately he (and my mother) are both shielding due to Government Regulations over the Holiday dates. We had to cancel and LHH kept £450 deposit which is an over-excessive charge for providing zero service. I asked on their Instagram “What is happening with July bookings? Can people cancel if they have elderly parents who are shielding at present and anxious about travel?” they had their solicitor call to get the comment removed! If they were unhappy with this innocent question, they could have removed it themselves but they came over extremely heavy-handed and threatening which is unforgivable. I wonder how many deposits they have kept. No doubt this comment will also be removed. I will not forget this company. Yes, this comment was removed despite not breaching Trustpilot’s T&Cs. Good to see 5star reviews by LHH Scotland employees getting through.

"Using LHH"
I would use LHH anytime. Booking both for holiday and professional longer stay visits has proved to be excellent trouble free experiences. The staff are friendly, the comms are speedy, and so far as I can tell the prices are reasonable. Their brochure is crystal clear and very well made, portraying their huge range of houses in an unexaggerated fashion. I have never had to ask for a refund, but (a) always insure when you book and (b) approach any changes you have to make in a non-confrontational way. That usually gets results.

"Quality accommodation and quality service."
We have booked through LHH for the past 6 years or so, often staying at more than one property a year. We have been delighted by the quality of both the accommodation and the customer service. We stayed at one property the week before lockdown and had a later booking cancelled and despite the challenges, in both situations, we received the service we have come to expect. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We are repeat bookers with LHH for a reason. Their staff are lovely, quick to reply to any message (even in the current situation), and the property we stayed in was so nice we are coming back. One of the most well organised and straight forward holiday let managers we’ve dealt with. I wish they had a wider remit.

Only gave 1 star because you have to give something, wouldn't have given any if it was possible! Holiday cancelled due to government restrictions and LHH refused to rebook to 2021 despite asking several times and also refused to refund an extortionate £832 deposit. We go on 3 holidays to Scotland each year and this is the first time of booking with them and we will never again, they have potentially missed out on a lot of business, as we would never recommend them either, but if they can afford to do that then so be it.
So, in reply to your reply to my comment, what you fail to say is that you cancelled our holiday, the regulations changed 2 days later and no one from your company made the effort to contact us to let us know, it was only when I emailed a few days later to ask why our holiday had been cancelled if the regulations had changed that you said actually yes you can go but by then we had already made alternative arrangements for our holiday.
I will also be taking advice from the ico regards my personal information which you have posted on this public forum

"Ten years of amazing holidays booked with LHH"
We have used this company for ten years, often multiple times a year, to holiday with family and friends. This loyalty reflects the high standard of both the accommodation in the many different cottages we have booked and also the amazing customer service we have experienced. We really couldn't fault them and have another holiday booked in October.
I would have no hesitation in recommending LHH to anyone looking for a holiday in Scotland. They will continue to be our company of choice. I really do not understand the number of negative comments that have appeared here in recent days. All I can say is that from my experience over the years LHH is an approachable, friendly company who will go out of their way to accommodate requests - and the standard of the accommodation they manage is superb.

Refusing to refund due to covid travel restrictions for a house that was booked for a whole family including shielding elderly relatives.
Now sending thinly veiled threatening ‘legal sounding’ letters to their not so valued customers.
Terrible company and have now been reported to CMA and trading standards.
