"Great alternative to car ownership"

I've been a member of Co Wheels since we got rid of our car a few years ago. Whilst there are sometimes a few bugs with the app and the costs have risen recently due to energy price rises, it doesn't come close to the hassle of owning and maintaining a car, or the expense.
I've had to call to get the car unlocked the last two times (left umbrella in the back, and daughter left the rear passenger light on) and the staff were really helpful and kind on both occasions.
A few of the cars local to me in Bristol seem to have been upgraded recently, and it's great that most seem to be automatic as I have some loss of mobility in my left leg.
It's also great to have access to estate cars and smaller cars nearby. My own hope would be that longer term hires could be at a reduced cost (even if this meant higher price-per-mile)

"I had really good experiences with Co…"

I had really good experiences with Co wheels since i joined 6 months ago. Cars usually reasonably priced and customer service is outstanding ! wouldn’t imagine now being without them as only need car occasionally and cant thank them enough for offering this service without any hustle of tradition rental

"I love car sharing..but improvements are needed"

I love car sharing... I moved from London and I was very happy to find CoWheels where I live now.. thanks to it I managed not to buy a car. Support staff are usually very efficient and courteous. Pricing is right (not cheap but ok).
On the flip side 1.the app crashes frequently and it offers only minimal info and options (needs refinement... a look of what other car sharing companies have would be beneficial).
2. Another problem is that the company has no way to control that car keys are returned to the glove box... I have been charged over GBP 200 to get a replacement of keys and the only way that "they proved" it was me is that I was the last one to use it (as a new client and lover of the service I let it go) and apparently the original keys reappeared few days later (could have been the client after me that for whatever reason mishandled them... perhaps to get a better car) so now I make photos of me leaving the keys in the glove box; but, seriously other clients might be less cooperative than myself...

Update as of February 2024: i have been reimbursed the amount taken for the keys replacement... As for my original review: support is efficient, courteous and accommodating when they can. fifth star when the app will be developed!

Update as of April 2024: we finally have an updated app, easier to use and with more functionalities . Thank you 5 stars now

"False and misleading information/advert"

I would avoid this company. They advertise no more than six points on your license. I have six points. When I signed up I was rejected because I had six points. I contacted the support number who advised its because I have 6 points for one offence - which makes no sense. There terms and conditions don't state this and nor does there advertisement. False and misleading information - avoid this company. Its clear from there past reviews why they have a terrible rating.

"Unreliable vehicles and months for expenses to be returned"

We went to pick up a taxi to drop my partner off to the airport on the 22nd December. When we arrived, the vehicle would not turn on. We were able to get in contact with their support team quickly who spent some time trying to book another available vehicle - which was an hours walk away. They had offered to pay for a taxi to the vehicle but since this would have taken a considerable amount of time to firstly find a taxi and then for it to get through traffic and take us to the new vehicle, I asked on the phone if they would instead pay for a taxi for our expense to the airport at which they said yes. At this point we were 45 minutes delayed and paid £190 for a taxi to the airport. When I sent this claim to cohweels, they refused to pay for the cost. I have asked their management team to review the call which is recorded to listen into the discussion where their colleague confirmed they would indeed pay for the expense of the taxi to the airport, but I keep being met with the response of 'oh no it was just for a taxi expense to the other car'. I'm waiting for their management team to give me a call back. This is actually the second time where a car has just not worked when I really needed it.
Some (not all) of their customer service team are incredibly friendly and helpful, but you just can't rely on their word of service or a car that works.

The car is always in the same place. Getting in and getting started is easy. Always clean and ready to go. Pricing is great. I never want to go back to personal ownership

"I am generally a fan of car sharing"

I am generally a fan of car sharing, but the price hikes in the past year and a bit were just too much, especially for electric cars. The mileage is just too expensive these days. When I first signed up I used the car for days trips or even weekend trips, but these days the cars can really only be used for a quick city rental to go shopping or transport large/heavy items.

"I love the car"

I love the car, it's fun to drive, comfortable and really convenient. The best thing is the staff who are always available to answer my questions and help me (when I've left something in the car, or booked the wrong day etc...)

"Don’t break down!"

Rented from Bournemouth, what a nightmare. Sustained a puncture. Spare wheel, jack, wrench all there but not the locking wheel nut - missing! Reported to co wheels who contacted breakdown, said it would be 90 minutes. After 3 hours of waiting I was forced to put my partner & my in-laws into a hotel which cost £140 plus expenses whilst I waited with the car. Six hours later finally RAC arrived - broke the locking wheel nut and put the replacement on. Person I spoke to said they don’t guarantee those tools will be there?! After complaining I received measly £20 good will gesture which I had to ask for twice before it was credited - pathetic service as I used them extensively as my in-laws were visiting from overseas. As I write this review I have just received an email asking me where the locking wheel nut is for this car?! The one that was never there when I rented it lol. What a joke. If you need to talk to someone expect to wait 20 minutes to get through. I would avoid this company.
