"Stops us buying a car"

For us co-wheels has made the need to own a car redundant. The cars are well maintained and easy to drive. Moreover, if the booked vehicle had issues they have always found me a replacement.

In weekdays I can always find a car at short notice but this is rarely the case on weekends. It would make sense to have different pricing for weekdays to balance this variable demand. To reliably have a car at weekends we need to book a week in advance.

The prices are low enough to make owning a car pointless but it'd be nice to have the option to book cheaper cars at lower prices (we always use BMWs which seems excessive)

"Brilliant service"

Have been a member of Co-Wheels for a number of years and cannot praise the company or service highly enough. So easy to sign up, and very easy to find a car and make and amend bookings. Customer service line is also very quick to answer and always friendly, polite and helpful. Have rarely had an issue and on the odd occasion I have it’s been resolved swiftly with excellent customer service. The service was particularly essential to me during the pandemic as a high risk person with advanced cancer: I was able to attend scans, appointments and treatments safely using their cars without having to risk public transport. It also helped keep me independent and in contact with friends and family when I would otherwise have been unable to do so. The range of cars available nearby to me was always excellent, and I loved being able to choose electric cars particularly for short day trips or city driving. The cost of hire is also very reasonable, particularly given the convenience of being able to find and book a car whenever you need and wherever you are in the UK. Would recommend this company to everyone. Brilliant idea, great experience and wonderful customer service!

"Surprisingly dysfunctional company"

Co-wheels deserves to be out of business - I rented a vehicle to go to an interview - go to the where the vehicle is on the app - it isn’t there - only option in the app is to message them, no phone number, no answer to my message after 20 minutes, so find a number online, call them, wait for a while, explain the issue, they say that the location on the app is only where the vehicle should be not where it actually is, and that my vehicle I rented was actually parked in another part of the city due to the charge station not working where it should have been parked, and that usually they would send an email or a call, but I received neither. Why is this information not within the app, or within the email they send when your booking is about to begin - how can a car-sharing app not actually show you where the car is? How did this service get out to the public with glaring fundamental missing requirements - they do not deserve to be in business, with this system in place how can they even pretend to have functioning management team - one issue I can give them a compliment on is the customer service rep who I spoke to did try to help but unfortunately the issue was beyond his control - also they haven’t confirmed a refund -

"The best car club in Bristol"

I've been a Co-wheels customer/user for the last few years and have found their selection of vehicles in Bristol to be usefully located and provide us with plenty of options. Pricing is reasonable and it's very easy to book their vehicles.

The few times that I've had any issues, such as a car not parked in the designated spot or the car not opening, customer support has been spot on and resolved the issue with speed.

"Awesome customer service"

It’s Saturday evening, getting dark and a few brave stragglers are heading home on the rain soaked Glasgow streets and I have a query about refueling a car using the fuel card. I send a message to Co-Wheels and within a minute I get a full and detailed answer to my question. No need for clarification or “we will get back to you as soon as we can”. From my experience these guys have awesome customer service.

"Excellent value for money"

An excellent way to get around town / one day trips and not having to bother about the rising costs of running and maintaining a car. Cars from Co-wheels are well maintained and they provide an excellent customer service at all times. Would highly recommend them at all times.

"Good customer service experience"

I recently applied to join co-wheels. Initially my application was rejected however once I'd asked for this to be escalated to a manager my application was approved. I have since decided not to use co-wheels due to a lack of vehicles near my home address however based on the excellent customer service I received I would have no hesitation rejoining the scheme in the future if they are able to increase the number of vehicles in their network.

"Cowheels cancelled Christmas"

Cowheels cancelled Christmas.

I had booked a car for Christmas a month before, I received a message to say my booking had been cancelled. I got in touch and was told that my booking had been transferred to a smaller car.

I then received an Email to say that had been cancelled. I had plans for Christmas day. It has now meant that I'd ended up spending Christmas alone.

Prices have gone through the roof, availability has gone down and now co-wheels have proven themselves to be unreliable as an alternative to car ownership.

There's been no compensation or supply of alternative vehicles.

A member of staff thought it was poor service and said he'd escalate this to senior management. He promised a response, of course there wasn't one and it is now Christmas day.

"Great when visiting family by train in other cities - sustainable travel!"

I visit family in other cities and go by train whenever possible, so having availability of a car on arrival particularly in Glasgow and Manchester city centres near the stations is amazing. Only had one issue over the many times/years I have booked a car - once the battery was flat on an electric in Manchester. Got booked onto another car and Co Wheels refunded taxi ride to it. Staff always helpful if needed on the phone.

"Misleading- cars available OUTSIDE weekdays only!"

The whole idea is great… as long as you’re clear with your information. After using co-wheels for the last month I kept noticing I couldn’t book a car during the week. The website stated we could book a car as long as one was free. However I noticed cars available in the parking bays (not being used).This kept happening so I decided to phone and ask was there a technical problem on the app? - there wasn’t. But I did find out the vehicles could not be booked by a normal car-wheels member as the vehicles were for the use of Kent county Council employees during 8am to 6pm! THIS WAS NOT MADE CLEAR AT THE TIME OF JOINING AND CONTINUE NOT TO STATE THIS ON THEIR WEBSITE!

I paid for both my partner and I to join. I can only use the cars in the evenings and weekends only - so buyers beware.

I think it’s outrageous not to be clear about availability so that you attract new members it’s very misleading… the whole idea was the ability of booking a car at any time, at no point did anyone during my discussions on phone or email did any one inform me of fundamental information. Online chat is useless no one responds.

What I will say the ability to contact customer service is very good aswell as sorting things out. Unfortunately this is overshadowed by misleading (lack) of information . There are issues with the app but I won’t get into this.

Not happy I was misled.
