"Great idea, terrible customer service and organisation"
I do not like leaving negative reviews, but my experience with Co-wheels has been fairly dire.
I have turned up on three occasions (within the last 6 months) to the vehicle hired not being there, which caused complications as I unfortunately missed appointments and work because of it.
On calling the customer service they were usually completely unaware where the vehicle was or when it would be back, leaving me hanging around in the street waiting for them to call me back (20-30minutes) and sometimes leaving me waiting over an hour for another vehicle to become available or the hire vehicle to return.
On not one occasion where Co-wheels customer service particularly apologetic and I had to fight to get my money back, as they were not eager to return my money despite them being in the wrong - always trying to insist on 'credits' being put on my account.
The vehicles are also starting to look quite tired and mucky on the inside, like they are not regularly cleaned, which simply shouldn't happen during a pandemic.
I am very much pro car sharing schemes and have used other Car Club schemes in both London and Liverpool, but the level of customer service and administrative organisation behind Co-Wheels is abysmally lacking. Great idea, very poor execution.

"Brilliant company"
Brilliant company. Wished I’d ditched the car years ago.
Just one example. Booked the wrong date and with 20 mins to go they refunded. It’s the future, Marlene!

"Cars just too small and impractical"
It’s a great scheme but unfortunately the cars are way too small, my local car is a Renault Zoe and the seat heights are not adjustable so I’m stuck with my head brushing the ceiling and in a dangerous driving position.
On some days the cars are always all booked up so having the car for a longer period at short notice for a family outing is difficult.
Also I have a family of 3 adult children myself and my wife they just won’t physically/comfortbly fit in the car?
If you are a young family with baby car seats/booster seats and prams it’s impossible to use this car, in turn it’s a big fight to book any other larger cars such as the MG EV as they are in such high demand.
If I need to go on an outing locally with another person I can just add them as a pillion on my Electric Bike. If I want to go to IKEA; the cars useless for bulky items
So they ideally need more practical cars for families and large groups to use, that can be useful to move bulks items at times such as the larger saloons, estates and hatchbacks.
On the upside the app is well written and bug free; so too is the website and customer services.

"Excellent customer service …"
I contacted Co Wheels to enquire about the most economical joining fee as we need to occasionally hire a van to deliver items of furniture to people in need. The response was amazingly helpful and as a result I would be happy to use this company anytime.

I had a question and someone named Gareth fixed it immediately on the Live Chat! Big big thanks to Gareth.

"So far So good"
Wow. I’m almost afraid to leave a review incase things start to go wrong. I joined Co-wheels car club about 6 years ago when my local authority offered free membership as part of sustainable transport policy. We only last year started to use them frequently, about 5 or 6 times a week. I take grandchildren to various sports clubs and the cars are always in place and clean. A few occasions have called customer service during the booking and each time been so impressed by speed of answering and helpful, friendly staff. There are about 7 cars I could use and we enjoy trying them out. It’s become part of the fun to see which one we get. We won’t use so much in spring/summer because we can walk/cycle but Co-wheels has been great. So far so good and I hope as Co-wheels grows and expands it can maintain the personal Car Club ethos it currently displays.
