I was reluctant to join a car club, but I'm glad I joined Co-wheels. I've never had a bad experience with this company, the cars are in very good condition, well maintained, and the environmentally-conscious approach makes this company unique. The customer service is of a high standard, I can't fault it.

Co-wheels is amazing! Booking system is easy with my car choice always available. Questions to the staff (Amy in particular) are swiftly replied. Now 2 years into my Co-wheels journey I question why anyone would own a car. If you are considering buying a EV, have a go with their BMW I3 - you will be convinced electric is an amazing enjoyable and fun ride. Just finished overnight rental of the Van- at £15 if you can sort out logistics 8pm to 8am - this is great value. Thank you Co-wheels for your commitment to Oxford!

"Answered phone immediately and rescued me"
The car hadn't been set up to charge properly by the previous user. Co-wheels answered the phone to me immediately, found a replacement car nearby and sent me on my way. Thank you Co-wheels. Can't imagine why anyone would own and run a car in a city with this excellent facility available.

"Co Wheels win hands down"
My experience with Co Wheels can be measured against another car club we have been using and so far CW come out on top hands down. Such an easy process to join and with a car just down the road we are in anti car ownership heaven. The main difference is customer service helping deal with our concerns when joining and once when trying to locate a car while going into melt down. Another bonus for me personally is that the cars are monitored regarding being driven heavily thus damaging the environment. As an ex petrol head who has turned his back on bike and car ownership the box will help me became a more considerate users of carbon polluting cars. So, in all over the moon apart from my possibly getting a speeding ticket doing 23 in a 20 zone but fingers crossed!

"Disgraceful fraudulent company who steal your money with hidden costs"
What a disgraceful company. Avoid at all costs honestly. On our first trip we booked an electric mini for a period of 5 hours. It is an hour before we are due to collect it and we notice that it only has 30% charge which would not be enough to get us to our destination. We contact cowheels who say we will have to take it to a charging station and wait for it to charge. Unbelievably unhelpful and negates the whole point of using a car club. We finally track down the car and try to figure out how charge it. It has "unleaded" written on the fuel cap which makes no sense given it said it was an electric mini and we had been told we would need to charge it. It is also a manual car when it clearly says on cowheels website that all their cars are automatic. We call up customer service and ask what the hell is going on and are told by the most unhelpful, horrifically grumpy customer service personnel "Oh yeah, some of our cars are not actually electric even though it says it on our system" to without even a hint of an apology. We are told that we will have to pay for fuel at which point we kick up a fuss because the whole point of Cowheels is that you don't have to pay for fuel as the electricity is free. We then demand that cowheel pay for the fuel because they have made the error and also inconvenienced us and nowhere does it say that any of their cars were petrol or that we'd have to pay for fuel. We get the ridiculously rude and blunt answer "Well you can return the car then.". How utterly utterly ridiculous and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We protest that that is unbelievable and that it is entirely Cowheels fault and we will leave if they don't rectify it. The customer service person then tries to say it's not her personal fault so she can't do anything to fix it. We point out that that isn't what we are saying and that as the customer service person who works for the company she is responsible for sorting out our problem on behalf of the company actually, otherwise what the hell is her role?! She once again says we can return the car. Unbelievable experience. What were we thinking. AVOID THIS COMPANY. They are at best a shambles and at worst fraudulent making us pay for a different service than the one we paid for in the first place.

I found Co-wheels to be very efficient and they provided a friendly and helpful service. The staff resolved any issues I had with a car quickly, and to my satisfaction.

Not always reliable. They allow you to book on the system but when you arrive cars may have flat batteries.
Some cars are dirty inside- some of these are not cleaned for weeks.
When I arrived to the cars, on many occasions these had flat batteries. So couldn’t make the journey. When I called them, they usually were able to offer a different car but I had to walk to a different location and loose significant time.
Then they cancelled one of my bookings without calling me, just a day before, I received only an email notification, was lucky that I checked my emails, but even though I couldn't get another van in the whole town last minute - so a minus for this.
Used them a number of times and it was good, however since the pandemic started the level of service is poor.
UPDATE: customer service team were quicker to reply and helpful (post pandemic performance?). The system is easier to navigate as it gives more general info when booking. Tipp: maybe leave more time for yourself and arrive earlier (extra 15-30 mins) in case you have an important appt so if you'd have to use another car because of the above you'll have time to reorganise things. Stars upgraded to 4.

Kate and Amy gave myself very good service regarding a lost keypad by Royal Mail without me registering a complaint to them which would have been a very tedious experience.The hybrid vehicle is a new experience and it has met all of my expectations,with hi-tech equipment.
