I bought a 12 year old Chinese elm. It arrived on time and very well packaged so was undamaged. Would happily buy again from Bonsai Direct.

"Well what can I say … after buying a…"

Well what can I say … after buying a Bonsai Tree for my sons 40th for which he was delighted!! Also the amazing help I received from Sarah I then entered a competition for sending in my review!
Well I on went and won £50 to purchase on their website how thrilled and excited was I, so I have treated myself to a gorgeous tree for myself with some accessories… I only ordered it two days ago and it arrived today!!

My word what an absolutely amazing company… I’d highly recommend them if you’re wishing to purchase a Bonsai Tree, the quality of everything is amazing and my tree is perfect … thank you so much !

Next day delivery by DPD was first class. Packaging was extremely secure & plant arrived in great condition, secure in the box & well watered. I am very pleased with the bonsai & it is now down to me to ensure that it continues to thrive. I will definitely buy from Bonsai Direct in the future.

"Delivery failure"

I ordered a bonsai for a 40th birthday gift. I asked for a specific delivery date and asked if the gift could be left in the unlocked porch. I received the delivery time information, but DPD wouldn't leave the gift in the porch! As it was a Friday birthday I was extremely disappointed to learn that it won't now be delivered until the following Monday.
As this was a very very special birthday I am extremely upset at the failure to deliver.
I can't say what the bonsai will be like now that it hasn't been delivered, but it certainly is very disappointing and totally unsatisfactory especially as there is a 40th balloon and tag in the box and the birthday date has now been missed.
I can't say that I would recommend this service to anyone.

"Received a truly stunning bonsai tree…"

Received a truly stunning bonsai tree at the weekend. First class packaging and very quick delivery. This is not the first tree that I have had from Bonsai Direct and it won't be the last. The service is excellent too. Thank you.

"Not impressed"

I'm in the "not awfully impressed" camp.

I bought a "Premium Indoor Bonsai" for my wife for Christmas.
When the tree arrived, it looked great and was extremely well packaged.
I followed all instructions, ensuring it was watered as directed but almost immediately (we're talking a handful of days) the leaves turned yellow and began dropping. I wasn't too concerned as the instructions said this might happen.
We soldiered on for a few months but the tree got worse and worse, in spite of it being properly cared for, as per the instructions.

In March, I got in contact with Bonsai direct who asked me to send some photos.

"It looks like the tree has dried out at some point as it is the top that looks to be suffering the most. It could have dried out from lack of water (possibly volume rather than frequency of watering) or gotten too hot."

This was odd as we always made sure it was properly cared for.

Subsequently I was asked to cut the bark to see if it was green underneath. Some bits were, some not and I fed this back.

I then got further advice, damp soil, bright location etc, another six weeks until improvement but this didn't improve matters.

Obviously I had hoped for the sad specimen to be replaced, but that offer was clearly not forthcoming.

"It’s ok I suppose"

It’s ok I suppose. Images on site suggest a better looking plant than the one I got. Seen these in supermarkets for half the price.
I think the lesson is. There isn’ta good cheap bonsai.
