By far and away the worst company I have had the pleasure of dealing with.
Looked into getting new windows and patio doors but had no idea of prices/quotes etc so decided to get quotes from 4 different companies to compare with Penicuik being one of them.
First off the salesman kevin seemed a nice guy and offered us a good price based on a deposit being paid there and then. He assured us that the deposit was refundable if we cancelled within 7 days. I made it clear that we had 2 more companies behind him to give us reviews so would be waiting to see what their prices were. Within 30 minutes I had a surveyor on the phone wanting to come and measure despite me asking kevin not to do anything. The following day I had the finance agreement through the door...again despite me asking kevin not to do anything until I spoke with him again. Upon these guys being very very pushy I decided to cancel, two days after being given the price.
I am now 40 days after cancelling and I still haven’t received my refundable deposit back. I have contacted them numerous times and they keep saying ‘the money has left our account”. It hasn’t been paid into my account and they show no willingness to help me resolve this.
I would avoid this company like the plague.

I am sitting at home with one of your sales people. A lady came to our door and my wife stupidly agreed for someone to call later. My wife was told it would take about 1 hour and would be left a quote . The sales man arrived at 6 oclock it is now 9 oclock and hes still here my wife agreed to windows just to get rid of him. Your company should be ashamed . Door stepping then given the hard sell when this is not we wanted . I will be contacting who ever deals with such matters and reporting you company. Very unhappy

"OUTSTANDINGLY HORRIBLE"
Right, so, as a customer, or any person of the street that wants windows or doors installed, we look for reasonable price and most importantly- good customer service. As we all know it is a certain procedure from the moment you show interest in product till that moment you get them in. Our experience with Penicuik Windows is absolutely below any level. 1st- we get a call from a representative that speaks faster than a race car, mumbles all the details and all u have time to realise is that somehow u are booked for tonight for a visit.wow, fast service amazing, I wasnt given a chance to put in a word... half an hour later another representative phones to go over the address (again) and the name(again), ok... an hour later a 3rd person phones to double check address and name and to make sure my husband knows that they are coming tonight!? Quarter to the set time I get a call that says " our representative's sat-nav has broken down so he wont be able to make it, by that point I am boiling over the roof , I said I will phone back next week to rebook, but no the next day I get a phone call from " manager that is reassuring me that tonight theres a meeting?" I said no- I didnt book anything.in a very pushy manner I was put in a position that I kinda had no choice?! My husband phoned to cancel and we thought we did but then surprise! Theres an agent at our door! No doubt that after some time I was happy to learn about their product BUT! putting people into a position that we MUST give an answer that night if we can afford it or not, that's not acceptable, like many people the fact that we decided to go for an expensive step like windows and doors does not mean we have the cash lying under floor boards, by the time the agent realised we are not going to jump on """"give away"""" prices, she started packing nervously along with saying that "not everyone can afford their windows and that we should try some joiner" by that point I wanted to kick her out, rude, pushy, and bullying.its hard as it is to think about the new house freshly purchased on top of that we were not given a second to think how we can proceed. Never mind the whole load of bull that was told in order to sell their product! If I could rate under 0 I would! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!

"The Pikers of Penicuik 9 weeks on"
Penicuik managed to take almost £1000 out of my account on the same day I signed the contract with them. That was 9 weeks ago tomorrow and despite me being willing to proceed with the contract Penicuik decided they did not wish to unless I paid an additional 40%. I refused additional charges but graciously allowed them to withdraw from the contract. I am still awaiting the return of my deposit. Nobody from Penicuik has contacted me to apologize and the only response has been either here or when I call them. I am now being told the refund is currently being processed I am anxious to end this unfortunate association with this company.

We had a good experience with the windows/door being fitted. There was a mix up regarding our door side panel but their sales team sorted it all prior to instillation. Only been in a week and so far very happy.

"Had 7 windows installed by Penicuik…"
Had 7 windows installed by Penicuik August 2018. Out of the 7, 5 had to be replaced due to scratched glass. 3 of those are now sorted but the remaining 2 windows have been replaced 8 times now, (that's not a typo that is 8 failed installations!) and every time they have large scratches.
Almost a year later and I don't think they are able to supply the remaining two windows but have had no response from Penicuik on the matter.
Avoid like the plague.
Edit - Just wanted to update this to say that despite me sending through the requested details to Penicuk, I have still not had any response and still have two scratched windows!

"I signed up for two new windows on 27th…"
I signed up for two new windows on 27th February and paid a deposit of £349 for a surveyor to come and measure the windows. After thinking amount I emailed customer services on 28th of February cancelling the order and asking for my refund.
At today's date of 16 April I have still not received my money back. I am now on at least the 4th person in customer services who is going to get this sorted for me!!!! I await a call back just like the last person and the person before that was going to call me back and never.
As a result of my ongoing problems I would not recommend Penicuik to anyone and my next step will be the Ombudsman.

"Stuart and Craig did a fantastic job…"
Stuart and Craig did a fantastic job installing our doors and windows. They were polite and cheerful and hardly stopped working all day. Everything was done to perfection and they cleaned up thoroughly before they left. I would not hesitate to recommend Penicuik to family and friends.
