"I've had a really terrible experience…"

I've had a really terrible experience with this trainline, it feels like three kids in a room. I booked the sleeper from Amsterdam to Berlin, excited to go after being at a work event all day. In spite of being able to book from Amsterdam central I received an email saying that departure had moved to another station in Amsterdam. On the day of the journey I received a very confusing email that made out as if it was in fact stopping at Amsterdam central, because of this I unfortunately missed my train which had a knock-on effect of issues and had to get a hotel. I was promised a refund on the ticket as still, nearly two months later haven't received this. Weird emails with costumer service and weird chat. Questionable business practices. Would not recommend. And before you type 'please get in touch with customer service' I have done, many times.

"Very punctual"

Very punctual, and friendly staff. We had a good journey, but the beds are not all that comfortable, and the restaurant car was both inadequate for the number of people on board and a very long way away from the front carriage!! Perhaps snacks and drinks could be made more freely available?

"chouette expérience mais train vétuste "

Tres chouette expérience pour le coté fun et voyage alternatif cependant train vétuste (surtout les sanitaires) et confort relatif donc les tarifs sont un peu excessifs.

"I was downgraded from a cabin to a…"

I was downgraded from a cabin to a couchette without prior notice. Obviously this happens all the time. Staff was superfriendly, but it was not the journey I had anticipated. Still waiting on refund

"Way too expensive for the conditions…"

Way too expensive for the conditions offered. Very old coaches, with old and broken equipment and very small dinning car with very bad and poor food. But I still enjoyed it :) it made me remember my night train trips in Romania over 20 years ago :)) going back in time and ignoring the bad conditions because of the nice vibe of all the passengers and the staff, very few, but very motivated and friendly.

"Not worth the money"

Got downgraded from a 5 person cabin to 6 person. It was noticeable that this cabin didnt have AC. Sleeping was impossible. On our outward trip we got woken up at 4:30 because the other people in our cabin needed to get off. Which made us believe this would also happen for us on our return trip. But this was not the case, making us just miss our stop.

I would not recommend when tickets are 150€ +. Going by plane is cheaper and more comfortable

"Disappointing experience"

Our experience is similar to some other reviewers. About 12 days before we were due to travel from Prague to Amsterdam we received an email to say that the train would be travelling to Utrecht instead due to ‘track maintenance work’. OK - not much the company can do about that. The day before our travel date we received another email explaining that the sleeping compartment we had booked would not be available as the sleeper carriage had ‘technical issues’ and we were being downgraded to a couchette. The occupancy remained the same - my partner and I had a compartment to ourselves - but despite the provision of bedding, the standard of comfort was poor compared to what we were expecting. We were told that as we were travelling by Interrail we would receive a 25% refund on the sleeper supplement. We also found that the power supply to the electric sockets stopped working after about half an hour into the journey. Given that the cost of our train ticket was part of the Interrail pass and the sleeper cost an additional Euro129 per person, a 25% refund seems a very meagre recompense for all the inconvenience and discomfort. Two positives: the staff were very friendly and helpful and the train arrived in Utrecht on time. We like the idea of travelling by train as a way of reducing our carbon footprint and we were really looking forward to the overnight sleeper experience but ended up feeling very disappointed.

"Aanrader!"

We reisden van Amersfoort naar Praag in een couchette. De medewerker was enorm servicegericht en aardig, de bedden prima en de coupé comfortabel. Je merkt wel dat de treinen wat ouder zijn, vooral de toiletten vertonen kuren. Maar totdat de nieuwe treinen beschikbaar zijn, een fijne manier van reizen!

"Had a good time on the European Sleeper, a few minor issues but otherwise every enjoyable."

Had a good time on the European Sleeper. A few minor issues but nothing that couldn't be worked out. I actually enjoyed the sleeper cabin, decent bed and the extra chair was lovely to sit on and watch the night pass by with a beer or two. Breakfast could do with a bit of an upgrade but i found the food in the restaurant car very nice. I knew it was old rolling stock but really like what European Sleeper are trying to do and it was fine. Staff were good and I would definitely use again.

"Promising Concept, Disappointing Execution: Sleeper Train to Prague Needs Major Upgrades or Cut Prices"

We appreciate the idea of a sleeper train as a sustainable travel alternative. However, the experience fell short of our expectations. The train was marketed as a new line to Prague, which created an impression of modernized facilities. Upon boarding, it became immediately evident that the train used old carriages previously operated by other companies. We noticed some carriages from Deutsche Bahn and others reminiscent of older Czech trains.

The cabins, which were designed to hold 5-6 people, felt cramped and stuffy, while the toilets were not clean and had an unpleasant smell. As we boarded, even a young passenger commented, "Ew, it stinks so bad!" Given the price, this service cannot currently compete with flights; the cabins will need significant upgrades to offer a more comfortable and competitive experience.
